BABY SMELL
Damien's pov
She smells different, I told myself sniffing the nook of her neck, she must have been exhausted after what happened a few weeks ago because Freda didn't stop sleeping at every opportunity she got. After breakfast it was nap time, same with lunch and dinner, I asked her about it and she claimed she was catching up on all the rest she missed out on.
It was another new week and she was still in bed. I had just taken a walk in the garden, trying to pick up some flowers for her. I had thought she was going to be awake by the time I got back, but I thought wrongly because she was very much still asleep.
"Freda" I called out her name earning a moan from her. I wasn't even touching her, lately, she's been extra sensitive, and horny, she wanted me all the time, not like I was complaining but it was beginning to freak me out how sexual she had gotten after the mating ritual.
"You have to get up, you need to eat," I said trying to turn her on her side, she groaned a little bit but moved, her eyes fluttered open and I smiled at her.
"Hey" she smiled and yawned a little bit, it looked like all the sleep didn't do any good.
"Get up and take a bath, Christie will bring you something to eat if you want to sleep more," I said and she nodded. I kissed her on both cheeks and left the room as I made my way down to find Christie.
"Your Highness, is she awake?" Christie asked rushing to my side,
"Yes, and she won't be coming down to have breakfast, just pick something and take it up to her, and just in case you catch her sleeping still bring the food back down," I said to her and she nodded her head in understanding before walking away towards the kitchen.
There was nothing to do, the kingdom had been peaceful, the nobles took care of their houses and no crime had been reported, some of the people who still had an issue with Freda becoming queen had finally accepted it once the news of our mating went beyond the walls of the castle. It was without any doubt that we would still have a few haters but they seem to have not spoken any word of hate towards either Freda or me.
Lost in my thoughts, I tried to understand why Freda had the smell that was around her, she had never smelled like that and I didn't want it to be a bother to me but I couldn't help it. Maybe I should talk to Elara about it, I thought to myself as I made my way to her house.
Without having to raise my fist to knock on the door of the house it went wide open as if waiting for me. I strolled in and as usual, it was filled with the smell of something brewing, she always made potions that I had never seen her use or give out,
"Damien" I heard her voice before I saw her face. I was already used to the way she answered the door so I didn't startle when she appeared behind me.
"What brings you here, I know Freda is fine so it's nothing serious, are you here for tea?" She asked, mocking me and I grinned. She had gone back to being the complete asshole of a witch I always knew her to be.
"You know I will never agree to tea," I said and she chuckled.
"Then what's wrong, you're good at hiding it but I know something troubles you.
"It's Freda, I could perceive a different scent coming from her, I do not want to assume and come to conclusions on my own that is why I came here, I need you to follow me back to the castle and have a whiff of her, I need to be sure," I said and she scratched her temples taking in what I had just said.
"How has she been fairing?" She asked and I shrugged my shoulders.
"She's been okay, except she still feels tired and sleeps most of the day away," I said slowly because it was beginning to sound like what I had thought was going on with her was what was going on with her.
"Hmm, I see, and where is she now?"
"She's in the castle, probably still in bed" I replied.
"Let's go see her," she said and I paused.
"We can't let her know why you're there, just in case it is not what we are thinking"
"And what are you thinking?" Elara asked with curiosity in her eyes.
"I think she's pregnant," I said and she gasped feigning innocence.
"Oh please, it's the same thing that crossed your mind, we guessed something like this could happen," I said leaving the house before her. I heard her door close so I knew she was right behind me, she tried to argue and drag words with me but I ignored her.
"Where did you go?" I heard Freda's voice the moment I opened the door. She looked like she had just finished eating with the way she was rubbing her stomach. My eyes immediately followed her hand. I had completely forgotten about Elara until Freda greeted her.
"My queen," she said, smiling broadly, and then I knew I was right.
"You're right, it is as you thought," Elara said out loud and Freda frowned looking confused.
"What is as you thought?" she said, looking at me, waiting for answers. I held her hand and walked her to a chair so she could sit, my smile was broad and I could tell it freaked her out.
"Uhh Damien?" She said, calling my attention, I kissed her knuckles and told her.
"You're pregnant Freda," I said and her eyes widened, it wasn't in shock but excitement.
"h-how, I-i mean really?"
"Yes, we can scent it," Elara said, her eyes gathering unshed tears.
