ALWAYS WITH YOU
Damien's Pov
"How dare you touch her?" With the collar of his clothes, I lifted the man, his legs swinging from the ground. My eyes darkened as I stared into his eyes and his eyes shot up in shock.
Following up with Freda had been exhausting. I had stayed under the shadows of trees, but there were not many trees in the human world. I had snatched an umbrella from a human and I had walked behind Freda and Christie all this while.
I had thought they were going to settle at home and have a rest, but instead, they were very quick to leave the apartment for a stroll. Christie, however, wasn't hurt by the sun as she was a dhampir, but me?
Freda turned to look at me in shock. She hadn't expected to see me. I had specifically told her that I would visit less frequently and it would only be at night as my breed causes me to.
She couldn't close her mouth seeing me in, a scorching sun protecting her. "Damien…" she asked as her eyes flashed to my arms.
My skin burned or rather was melting or shrinking as I still held onto the man's neck. It hurt, but I didn't want to let him go.
"Please, let him go," Freda begged. She was concerned about my safety too. I turned back to the man, who could not find words at the sight of my skin burning.
He would surely have a story to tell his people, but I needed to teach him a lesson first, not to mess with any woman he saw at first sight.
I threw him across the street with strong strength and he landed on a car parked in the street, his body shattering the glass.
"That was too much, you will cause a scene" Freda scolded with a frown.
"Why are you out here?" My voice hung low.
"Are you stalking me?" She asked, upset.
I swallowed. It might have appeared like a stalk, but I wasn't doing that. I wanted to make sure she got there safe and sound, but my curiosity itched me when she stepped out of the house with Christie and I had no choice but to follow.
"You were supposed to be resting," I said.
"And you are supposed to be on your throne? Why would you come here knowing it would hurt you?" She reached out to take my arm, but I didn't let her.
She frowned as she moved toward the road and stopped a cab. "Get in, Damien," She ordered. With no argument, I entered the back seat, with her joining me, Christie sitting in the front.
With her little scarf, she covered my hurting skin, so the driver wouldn't catch a glance. She stayed in the car silent without saying a word. My hands reached for her lap. "Are you upset with me?"
She pushed my hand easily. "Don't touch me."
"Freda…"
"I prefer you remain silent till we get back to the apartment."
"I prefer you speak to me before we get to the apartment."
"You were sneaking, Damien."
"I wasn't, I was looking out for you."
"You made me believe you can never come here in daylight. I understood that, but now you're putting your safety at risk and…"
"I love you, Freda." I cut in, with a whisper in her ear. "I love it when you scold me also" I whispered. She rolled her eyes like she wasn't expecting what I said, but a smile escaped from her lips. I kissed her neck and she pushed me away.
"This is not the time, nor the place" she frowned.
"Allow me," I grazed her lap with my fingers and she shifted in her seat.
"You don't hurt, right? Because if you did, you would not be this playful."
It was a lie. I did hurt a lot, not as much as I would hurt if Elara hadn't given me a magic spell to keep me from completely melting but seeing Freda had distracted my pain. I wanted us together, just like last night.
On getting to the apartment, Freda took me into her room, searching thoroughly in the wardrobe for something. "I saw the first aid thing today. That's what they use here when there's an emergency." She muttered.
I walked over to the wardrobe, holding her from behind. "I don't need that, Freda. Seeing you is enough and that's all I'm here for."
She turned to me and I wrapped my arm around her waist. "I'll heal in a few days. You don't have to worry about that" I said.
She looked at me with the seductive eyes I was used to and I locked my lips with hers kissing her passionately.
"I have to go now," I said when I broke the kiss.
"It's still very sunny outside…" her voice was low, and she touched my chest. "Please stay till evening, so you don't hurt again."
"I am almost past the time Elara gave me. She did a spell to keep me insulated a little from the sun, it would only last for a few hours, so I have to go or the pain would be unbearable."
"What was that in the car then? Why would you turn me on knowing you would not be staying very long" She frowned.
"Did I turn you on, Freda?" I teased, caressing her butt. "I thought you were upset with me."
"Yes, upset with King Damien, not Damien," she said. She locked her lips with me again, kissing me harder. I was rock-hard, but I needed to go.
When I pulled her away, she frowned. "I need you Damien…" she whined like a toddler, starting to pull my shirt. I stopped her, laughing.
"Easy, Freda, easy." I chuckled. Her hands settled on her nipples as she grazed them with her thumb, plopping them out of her clothes.
"You're going to leave me like this?" She asked.
With the speed of light, I flashed out of her apartment, before she tempted me.
