PARTY TONIGHT
Freda's Pov
Saying I was a lesbian might have been too big of a word to get me to attend the party, but I knew I couldn't go on any other date except with my man, Damien.
Parties like this were things I had always wanted Licita to invite me to. Kara mostly got invites but would not go because she didn't want me to feel bad and sometimes when she went, she had a lot of stories to tell about what our friends did at the party, who they brought, and how they behaved.
I wanted to experience one also, and wanted to see what the popular girls and guys always did at their parties. If this was going to be the only party, at least I had ticked it from my bucket list.
I was excited to get home and inform Christie about this. If there was anything I brought from school today, it was this piece of information. Dashing into her room to see her dance to a song playing on her TV, I laughed. "You dance?" Rearranging herself with composure, she smiled.
"Welcome, my queen"
"I have a lot to tell you." I dropped my bag on her bed. "We have a party."
"Oh, when?"
"Tonight."
"Tonight?"
"Yes, it's a school party I got invited to and I have to bring someone along. So im taking you." Her eyes widened.
"No, I can't go with you to a party. I was instructed to serve you at home, Freda. I can't go beyond that order."
"You were instructed to do as I say Christie and you're going to this party with me."
She grumbled for a little bit. "I do not have those human dresses I see on TV. Our dressed are more archaic, I guess. "
"We would solve that. After a shower, we'll head to the shopping ball and get ourselves dressed." As I explained how our okabrs were going to go, I thought to explain what being my date at the party would mean but I changed my mind. If Christie knew we should be perceived as intimate, she wouldn't agree to it. Kara was the perfect girl for things like this. As my best friend, she would pretend to be anything to make it work.
With a quick shower and some dillydallying, we left the house to the nearest shopping mall. Since my house is inside an estate, we had most of these public centers closer.
We walked into the sections to see racks of vibrant dresses that seemed to stretch on forever as we dove into our shopping spree. Malls here were more advanced than those of the kingdom. There were a lot of things we would have to work on when I got back home.
Giggles and gasps filled the air as we started to change through sequined gowns and flowing chiffon. I held up a daring red dress, while Christie modeled a sparkling silver jumpsuit, as we striked pose after pose in front of the mirror.
As we spent time buying a lot of things we liked, we eventually ended our spree and walked toward the counter to pay for them. However, a man approached us. His gaze fixed on Christie.
"Hello," he had said to her, stretching his hand forward for a handshake. Christie retreated, not knowing whether to greet this stranger.
"How can we help you?" I asked rather defensively and he smiled.
"I just wanted to meet you, pretty girls. I've been watching you for a while and all of those dresses look good on you. Christie chuckled and I smiled.
"That is such a nice word to say, sir. Thank you."
"Do you mind if I pay for your dresses? Pretty girls like you should be stressed about such little matters"
"We didn't spend little, sir. We spent a lot." I responded.
"It still sums up to - ladies shouldn't pay for their dresses"
I was surprised at the stranger's offer and so was Christie, but before we could argue further, he had already paid the cashier.
"Have a nice day" he walked out.
Christie's eyes widened. "He's gone?" She asked
"He truly is," I said with the same shock.
"At the blood club, a lot of bodywork would pay in return for that huge sum. "
"For someone who is not our parent or fiancee. That was daring" We walked out of the mall.
Christie went on and on about why she liked the human world. She said, people can just like you for being pretty and have no other shady intentions toward you.
She said she was lucky to have been with me for this experience and she was excited to tell a lot of stories when she got back home. She mentioned feeling confident about herself and hearing compliments like that.
When we got home, we had started to prepare for the party. Even after choosing a lot of clothes, we still found it hard to decide which to wear. We spent a lot of time dressing up before I received a message from Ella- however, she got my number, that the party was starting soon and then we started to hurry.
After we were done, we left the house to the address. I checked the time, it was still quite early and I hoped we arrived on time. Damien would be here late in the night and I wanted us to be back by then.
I didn't want any complaints from him about going late at night to a location I didn't know, with people I hardly knew. I knew in my gut feeling that I was going to be safe, but explaining that to Damien would be a lot of work, so it was better I was hone before I told him about the party.
As the cab approached the party, my heart skipped. Now I was doing the popular girl thing I had always wanted to do. Were these the few little things that made me happy? Was this the freedom I always craved for?
