STAY
Freda's Pov
Damien had had several meetings concerning my parting. He had been busy making arrangements and had not even had time to discuss with me how this was going to work. He just agreed with me the instant I said it.
It was true I wanted to finish college, but if this was going to shake the relationship I had with Damien then I didn't want it.
I didn't know if I was crazy or if my indecision was just getting a bigger side of me.
"Damien." I burst into the throne room where he sat. "We need to talk."
He looked up from what he was writing and then immediately covered it when saw me. My curiosity heightened. "What is that?"
"What do you wish to speak to me about?"
"What were you writing, King Damien." I walked toward him and he stretched out his hand to stop me.
"Move away…few steps back to your original position. It's an order from the King." He said with a tough voice, but the smirk at the corner of his lips didn't make me take him seriously.
"You haven't been crowned yet, Damien. There's no king to order me around." I walked toward where he sat and he took the piece of paper he was writing on and stood from his seat, placing the paper behind him so I do not have access. "Is that a letter, Damien?"
"No…" he moved away from me.
"Why do you pull away from me? Is that perhaps for one of your mistresses?"
"One of…" he laughed. "Please, Freda. Just stay back and say what you need to say."
"I do not think it is more important anymore" I turned to leave, but he suddenly appeared at my front startling me. "Please Damien, don't use your powers on me!" I screamed.
"Get used to it, Freda" he smiled and then slowly brought out the paper he had been hiding. "It was meant to be a surprise." He said.
I took the paper from his hands, reading the heading I saw it was a love letter, handwritten by Damien for my departure, and covered it immediately. "I don't want to read it now" I blushed. "I'm sorry, I forced you to hand ut over to me."
He rolled his eyes, taking the paperback. "I'm all ears, Freda."
"Damien, about my college…I want you to go with me." Putting my hand with his, I moved closer to him. "Damien, I do not want to leave you. I…" I noticed he didn't meet my eyes. "You've been avoiding this conversation since it was mentioned, what is wrong?"
"Freda. College would make you happy and I am in full support of it."
"Look into my eyes and say that."
He chuckled, but I wasn't joking.
"I'll miss you very much, is that what you wish to hear?"
"No, Damien. I think you could go with me or something."
"You're ridiculous, Freda," he walked away from me. "You're a hybrid, you deserve a place there, not me. The human world isn't a place for me. Do you even think I would leave my duties..my kingdom, for that?"
"For that?" My voice broke.
"Don't go that, Freda." He scolded. "Weighing the priorities, you know my kingdom is more important. There is nothing to do in the human world with you when I have a lot of responsibilities here."
My head hung low. He was right, why would I even suggest that? "I need a human tutor then." I frowned. "I do not wish to go anywhere anymore. Get me capable human tutors who can…."
"That is impossible and even if it were, no human would come into this place except being mated. It would cause an invasion. We do not need the attention of humans for now. They know we exist, but far where they cannot reach or cross the borders"
"Something needs to be done about the distance Damien" My eyes became teary. The more I got intimate with Damien, the more our mate bond became deeper. I felt emotional going far from him and my chest just hurt at the thought. I should never have spoken about college.
"I'll visit you from time to time, Freda," he said softly and motioned that I come over to him with a move of his hand.
I walked to him and he made me sit on his lap, cuddling me softly and kissing my forehead. "I have to stay away from you too. But Freda, even if you didn't suggest this, it was part of my plans to take you to the human world to have the feeling of fulfillment and freedom you've always wanted."
"I cannot relate to the hurt you feel being a half-human, half-werewolf, and then mated to a vampire and not being accepted in any. It is a lot to handle and I just want you to realize that your happiness comes first for me "
I nuzzled myself in his arms wishing to stay like that forever.
"If you need an assurance that you're completely mine, then please prepare for your coronation. Lady Elara said she cannot find you in your room because you're either talking with Christie or exploring the castle."
"Coronation?" I shifted my position to face him.
"Yeah, the one you ran away from" he chuckled. "It's back in your face now." He said.
I smiled. Of course, I wanted to be Queen now and that was a seal between Damien and me before I moved to the human world.
"I am excited for this"
"It should happen tomorrow or the next before you leave." He said grazing my neck with his mouth. "Urgh, Freda, I can't wait to mark you." I folded my neck in the pleasure of his lips.
"How would that happen?" I asked, genuinely curious.
"Just a small bite… or a big one depending on how starved I am, how much I missed you" his tongue traced my neck. "I want to taste you, Freda," he said in the most seductive voice.
I wanted him to. I wanted to know what it felt like to be bitten by a vampire.
"But do not worry, I would not do it in the coronation, but after," he said.
"Why?" I asked.
"Because there will be some changes in you and I do not think you would handle it in the human world."
