HE DEFENDED ME

FREDA

“Dad?” I said with surprise as I stared at the tall frame of my father covering the door but my hateful old man wasn’t even paying attention to me. His full focus was on Licita who took a pause from the devious things she was about to do to me and began to stare at my father with a look of fear.

“What were you about to do to my daughter?” A guttural growl escaped my father’s throat as he began to approach Licita menacingly which confused me because my father wasn’t the ‘defend Freda’ kinda person. We had a mutual hate for each other so seeing him approaching my life long enemy threateningly because she hurt me was very confusing. I momentarily forgot about the pain in my arm as I continued to watch what was unfolding with interest.

“Alp…Alph…” Licita stuttered and stammered as she began to walk backwards until her back hit the wall.
“What were you about to do to my daughter you wretch?” My father asked again and in a blink of an eye, he reached Licita and grabbed her by the neck.

“Ple..pl…please. I’m sorry.” Licita managed to choke out an apology but my father ignored her as he tightened his hold on her neck making her face redden like an overripe apple.

Joy washed over me as I watched Licita suffering. I didn’t want her dead though, far from it. I just wanted her to get hurt and bleed too so she would leave me alone.
Licita started to claw my father’s hands in desperation but he just stared at her with cold eyes, as If he didn’t feel her claw scratches. After a while he slammed her to the floor so hard, I felt a slight tremor.

Licita coughed out blood as tears began to roll from her eyes.

“Next time you dare to lay your dirty hands on my child, I will make sure you’re six feet under and I won’t care whether your father is an Alpha or not. Now get out of my sight.” My father commanded with a cruel tone.

Licita was barely able to stand up and she began to quickly make her way outside. She paused for a minute and turned to with an angry look on her face.

“I’m going to tell my father about everything. You’re not going to get away with thi…” Her threats were cut short by a wave of powerful aura that oozed out of my father’s body. The hair on my body stood on end as I turned back to stare at my father.

I knew he was an Alpha werewolf and I knew he was very powerful but I had never seen him when his wolf was stirring at the surface. I had always been curious but because of his attitude towards me in recent years, that curiosity had died down but when I saw the way his blue eyes completely changed into blood red, I was glad I didn’t press to satisfy my curiosity.
He looked so scary. And the aura that was oozing out of his body was leaving me breathless.

I glanced at Licita and I swear I thought I could see the front of her dress getting wetter and wetter

“Did she just pee on herself?” I thought as I saw her leg turn to jelly as she flopped to the floor.

“Get out.” My father’s cold voice seemed to give some life to her legs as she immediately stood up and began to run while crying like a child whose candy was stolen.

I gulped and turned back to face my father but I saw none of the ferocity that was on his face a while ago, his eyes had returned back to its original icy blue and he stood there as if he wasn’t the one that was just about to shift into his wolf.

A strange thought passed through my mind. If my father was this powerful and the remaining alpha’s were also this powerful then how powerful was the Vampire king to be able to subdue them all? I shivered and brushed the thought off my mind quickly. The important question though was why had he defended me? What was up with that? My train of thought was however cut short by a sharp pain on my arm.

“Ouch!” I yelped in pain as the wound Licita gave me began to sting terribly. My father regarded me with his signature cold look before he made his way towards me with slow steps. He knelt before me and I was feeling very uncomfortable but I was very sure he couldn’t care less about how I felt as he continued to examine my wound.
“Open your mouth.” He instructed.

I widened my eyes in surprise and I cocked my head to the side wondering why on earth would make such a weird request.

“Wh..why?” I retorted, trying my best to act brave.
He didn’t respond. He raised a finger up and I could see that finger changing into a claw. My curiosity turned into fear as I thought that he was about to hurt me.

I began to crawl backwards but my old man only stared at me with an amused expression before he used that claw and punctured his arm with just enough force to draw blood. He approached me again and he raised his hand towards my mouth.
“Drink my blood.” He ordered and I stared at him like he had just gone mad.

I shook my head and pushed his hand away from my mouth.

“You are wounded badly. I don’t have a first aid box and the whiff of your blood could bring hordes of deranged vampires to your doorstep so I suggest you drink my blood so your wound can heal.” My father’s voice was surprisingly patient as he stretched his hand out once more.

I hesitated briefly, drinking my father’s blood had never crossed my mind in my young teenage life but considering the circumstances, I didn’t want to turn into Vampire food so I gulped hard and closed my eyes shut. Grabbing his arm, I placed my lips on the blood and began to suck on it.

The metallic taste of his blood made me almost want to puke but I continued to suck on it until I felt an itching sensation on my arm. I stopped drinking his blood and stared at my arm as it miraculously began to stitch itself back together. Before long, my arm was healed and good as new.

I turned to look at my father but he had his back towards me as he walked towards the door and bent to pick up something. He turned around and I could see a long black dress in his arms.
