HAPPY AND SAD
Damien's Point of View
I stopped dead in my tracks as I heard my name being called. I turned around, wondering who was calling me.
I saw a young lady running towards us. How does she know me? I asked myself.
"King Damien!" she called out again, this time louder. I could see the relief in her eyes as she reached us.
Alpha Winston, who was standing next to me, frowned. "What are you doing here in the pack land?" he asked her immediately after she arrived.
The lady bowed her head, apologetic. "I'm so sorry to intrude, Alpha Winston. I just really needed to talk to Damien, I heard that a vampire was in the pack borders and I figured it was him."
I raised an eyebrow, curious. "What's going on?" I asked her.
She took a deep breath before speaking. "My name is Kara, and I'm Freda's best friend. We've been friends since childhood, and I know something's wrong. She has not been picking her calls, which is really strange , and I just got a bad feeling."
I arched my brow, surprised by the boldness. "When was the last time you spoke to her?" I asked, my voice calm, I was hoping that I actually have a clue.
Kara fidgeted with her fingers nervously. "It was the night she arrived in New York. She called me that evening and told me she had arrived safely and we spoke for a long time but after that…" She hesitated, her eyes welling up with unshed tears. "The next day, she didn’t pick up. And Freda… she never just ignores my calls. Something’s wrong. I know it."
Her panic was infectious, worming its way into my chest. Freda had always been responsible. For her to go radio silent? That wasn’t like her at all.
Lily handed me a small slip of paper with Freda’s phone number scrawled across it.
I clenched it tightly in my fist, I can't lose the one thing I have that could be of help. "I’ll find her," I promised, locking eyes with her. "Whatever it takes, I’ll bring her back."
"Thank you. Please, Damien. She’s like a sister to me." Kara said, I could see her shoulders relaxing. I wasn't the only who wanted Freda back and to be safe, she wants that too, she wants her friend back.
I nodded, already forming a plan in my mind. If Freda was in trouble, there was nothing that could stop me from finding her. Nothing.
I would get my mate back.
Freda’s Point of View
I stirred awake at the sound of the door creaking open. It was that same sound the door made each time someone opened it
I was getting used to the annoying noise.
The maid from the vampire kingdom, carrying yet another tray of food, walked into the room.
The maid moved quietly, setting the tray down in front of my mother and me, her eyes looking down. She didn’t speak, but she never did. Every day it was the same, food brought in silence, a few glances exchanged, and then she would leave, as if none of this were out of the ordinary.
But I could sense the fear in her. Something about her was off, like she didn’t really want to be here. Finally I got an idea a glimmer of hope inside me. Maybe I could use that to our advantage.
As she knelt down to give us the food, I leaned forward slightly, lowering my voice. "Why are you doing this?" I asked quietly, my eyes fixed on her. "Aren’t you supposed to be serving in the vampire castle?"
Her movements paused for just a second before she glanced at me, her eyes haunted. "Some people are forced to make choices to please others," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
That confirmed it. She didn’t want to be here. I swallowed hard, heart pounding as a new plan started to form in my mind. If she didn’t want to be here, maybe she could help us.
After we ate, I gathered my courage and whispered to her again. "If you can get a message to Damien… Tell him where we are. Please. I promise you, no one will hurt you if you succeed. You’ll be saf……..."
But before I could finish, the door slammed open again. Williams.
My blood ran cold as he entered the room, his eyes dark. "What’s going on here?" he demanded.
Williams haven't been here since the day I woke up and saw myself here. It made me happy and unhappy at the same time.
The happy part was that I won't be tortured and the sad part was that he was planning something dangerous.
The maid straightened up immediately, her body stiff with fear. "Nothing," she said quickly, her voice trembling as she avoided his gaze.
Williams wasn’t convinced. His eyes narrowed, and in a swift motion, he grabbed her by the hair, yanking her towards the door. "If I find out you’ve been talking to them…" he growled, dragging her out of the room without another word.
I bit down on my lip, terror surging through me. That had been my chance. And now, I had no idea what would happen to the poor girl. The last thing I saw was the door slamming shut, leaving us in silence once again,
i really wanted to start crying, will i ever be out of this place or William will continue to maltreat us. My mom and I were not the only one Williams held captive. He took Damiens workers too. I have seen some of the warriors here when they were meant to be at the Vampire kingdom. i just hope Damien is not in danger.
