ESCAPE ROUTE
Freda’s POV.
I rushed to the back of the castle after leaving Damien’s room with a strong determination never to look back or go back to the castle again. I made sure my movements were as stealthy as possible.
I ran as much as I could as soon as I checked and saw that the coast was clear to the dark cave where the passage led to. Above my head, I could see and feel the blazing sun and the heat it brought. I couldn’t completely tell if the sun was against my motive or if it was just trying to punish me for being vulnerable to Damien’s seduction earlier. I liked the way things were going and I was trying to run faster than I was built for at this point.
“Huff... huff... huff...”
I gasped.
“ This is not going to be easy at all.” I frowned.
I recalled what Christie my maid had told me about the passage that led to a cave where in the midst was a burning flame.
I could take a lot of time to figure out the journey ahead, the rest of the passage in the tunnel-like cave. The thought was easy to flash through my mind's eyes, the only question however was who was going to walk halfway through that dark tunnel-like cave before the prospect of seeing a fire that could be handled and taken through the tunnel to the point of reaching the route that Christie claimed would take me out of the castle.
It was very difficult to get out of Castle through this passage but I was killing to make it. I need to see my family, that's if they care about me. I'm sure my best friend would love to see me and so will I. I needed to know everyone was doing okay.
Entering deep inside the tunnel cave I heard the sounds of two guards at the far end of the tunnel. As though they were guarding over an important treasure and needed to ensure no trespassing.
“What am I gonna do now?” I say to myself. I decided on a plan to lure the guards out and trick them into believing I was a commoner who was lost. it may also be easier to even seduce palace guards to get past the tunnel and leave here, Kara once seduced some guards at the pack so we could leave but the only problem here is they're vampires and I'm a freaking half-werewolf, half-human.
I wanted to pick a small piece of rock and toss it down to the far end of the place where the guards were stationed but I realized that while I was busy mucking these plans, I was making some slight noise and they could easily tell someone was lurking around in the shadows. For some weird reason the cave linked to the kitchen so if ever I got caught I had something to lie about. While contemplating I lowered my body as though I was squatting while my back was still glued to the edge of the rock wall while I contemplated my chances. Bending, I picked in a rock and bit my lip hard very sure of my next move. “Shit,” I said as the rock I had just picked dropped from my hands to the floor and a small sound could be heard. It was as though my fears had finally come face to face with me. I couldn’t hide anymore because I've not only raised suspicion but I’ve also made it clear that there was someone at the dark end of this tunnel-like cave. They walked towards me and I tried to think of my next line of action a frantic thought to immediately run away was brushed up by the voice from one of the guards.
“Who’s there!” A hoarse voice said. But I kept my cool intentionally trying my best not to give any further clue to them that there was someone out there. I stayed calm preparing my grand plan and how to evade these two guards. From their voices, I could tell they wanted two. I couldn’t exactly make out the faces since it was dark but I knew they were now very cautious.
“Who’s there!” the second guard called out.
“Reveal yourselves by the order of the kingdom.” He cried.
“Wheeet-wheoo... wheet-wheet...” I whistled trying to reduce the pressure and indirectly alarming them that it’s a female out there.
“Whiii... wheeet...” I whistled again to make sure they got the first one.
