THE DINNER
FREDA
I stood facing the large mirror in my room and staring at my reflection. It was nighttime and the moment I had dreaded had come. I continued to stare right back at my reflection and I liked what I saw.
I wore the stunning dress my father had brought and it felt very comfortable to wear. The thing was, I wasn't too comfortable because it's been long since I dressed up in anything feminine and the way the fees hugged my curves and the slit at the helm made me feel very feminine.
I packed my hair and styled it into a simple pony tail trying to make my appearance as simple as possible. I did not want to be an object of desire for anyone as the plan was to be Invisible and skidadle when the dinner was up.
I heard a soft knock on my door and I rushed to go see who was at the door. I opened it and I saw my father's blue eyes staring right back at me. He was simply dressed with a shirt and cloak but the aura around him was anything but simple. It was the aura of an Alpha.
He observed me with those icy blue eyes of his and I thought I saw a nod of approval but I decided to just brush the thought off.
“It's time for the dinner with the King.” He said with a curt nod and then offered his arm. I hesitated for a while before sliding my arm into his. I closed the door behind me and we began to walk towards the dining hall.
As we walked, My father looked straight ahead as he continued to walk briskly and I was grateful he didn't start any conversation with me. I did not think I would be able to flow well with him in a conversation so the silence was comfortable, for me at least.
He continued to lead me through the long and winding corridors until we finally arrived at the meeting hall. The place was alive as the alpha's and their daughters mingled with each other. I caught sight of Licita who stared right back at me with a vengeful glare, I rolled my eyes and ignored her as I continued to stare around the meeting hall.
Vampire stewards continued to walk around in a haste as they brought dishes after dishes to the large table at the centre of the room. The chair were arranged in a way that would allow an alpha and his daughter to sit side by side.
My father tugged me and we made our way towards our seat. My father ignored his fellow alpha's and sat down while I followed his lead and sat beside him.
I pressed myself to my chair as I observed my surroundings when all of a sudden, I saw Licita making her way towards us with man I assumed to be her father. I had a very bad feeling about this and I knew the evening was about to take a very bad turn.
“Daddy, he's the one that hurt me.” Licita pointed at my father who was nonchalantly sipping the tea a vampire steward brought for him. She had this innocent look on her face which disgusted me. I braced for the eventual confrontation that was too come.
“Alpha Winston. I demand an explanation.” Her father glared at mine but my father just ignored him and continued to sip his tea with a serene expression. I nudged him on his ribs but he didn't even pay attention to me. This wasn't the time to act cool and all.
“Alpha Winston. I'm talking to you.” Licita’s dad began to fume and I could see his eyes slowly changing to crimson. Shit was about to get real.
“Explanation for what alpha lyrus?” My dad finally dropped his tea cup and faced alpha lyrus
“Explanation on why you would lay your hands on my daughter.” Alpha lyrus thundered. Everyone in the hall paused their actions as they turned to watch the unfolding drama with interest.
“Ah you mean the little incident earlier? I'm surprised you would get so worked up over a mere……well it's not like I hurt her in anyway.” My father raised an eyebrow as he let out a soft chuckle. The man was really taking all this as a game.
“You didn't hurt her? You choked her and then you slammed her to the floor and then you say you didn't hurt her?” alpha lyrus took a step closer and I could see his fangs peeking out of his lips.
“Perhaps she should have thought about that before she tried to attack my daughter.” Ny father shrugged nonchalantly.
“Are you saying my daughter deserve it?” alpha lyrus was red with rage.
“Dad, she hurt me too. She punched me in the face, I want vengeance.” Licita stood behind him and fake tears were streaming down her face as she pointed an accusing finger at me.
“Perhaps I should return the favor Winston.” alpha lyrus declared as he stretched out his hand towards my direction. I closed my eyes in fear as I waited for the hand but it never came.
I opened my eyes slowly and I saw that my father had caught his arm. His eyes had turned crimson too and I saw his claws digging into the flesh of alpha lyrus making him wince in pain.
“You won't dare lay a finger on my daughter.” my father growled menacingly. He tightened his hold on alpha lyrics arm and they were locked in a stalemate as they glared furiously at each other.
Just as it seemed like they were about to clash, a commanding voice echoed through the hall.
“Enough!” The voice boomed and I turned my attention towards the sound of the voice. The vampire king strode into the room with a calm expression on his pale face. His crimson eyes glanced at my father and alpha lyrus before he shook his head.
“We will not resolve our differences through violence. Not under my roof, so I would advice that you both calm down.” The vampire king commanded.
My father released his grip on alpha lyrus hand while staring staring calmly at him. alpha lyrus gritted his teeth and swore under his breathe as he made his way towards his seat reluctantly. Licita followed and with that out of the way, the vampire king approached the head of the table and sat down.
