CHAPTER 28: HER OBSESSION 4

“………………………Hope was sentenced to life in prison and her life in prison wasn’t that easy at all. she was bullied by inmates daily and no matter how much she tried to report, it just never worked.

She persevered because of her daughter and hoped that one day, she will see her living a good life but that was shattered when the news of her daughter being not her ex-husband’s daughter was exposed.

Hope had no idea how this hidden truth was exposed. No one knew about this at all, and even her ex-husband wouldn’t find that secret. So, who was the person scheming against her?

To make matters worse, Hope tried to find her daughter but she wasn’t reachable on her phone. This got her worried as she was afraid that something awful must have happened to her child.

She had spoiled her child to the core and she won’t be able to survive by herself out there. In order to find her child, she gritted her teeth and called her ex-husband but the man told her words that made her cough blood and faint.

Hope was admitted to the hospital for days but she never fully recovered as the worry of not knowing where her child was eating daily.

She lost so much weight that she became a stick and still, there wasn’t any news on her. days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months.

Six months after Hope was sentenced and was serving her sentence, an unexpected visitor showed up. Looking at the face of the girl whom she had hated with all her heart before, she didn’t know why she was here to see her.

‘You must be wondering why I am here? I will not make you guess for long though. I just wanted to come and see the face of the s*** who killed my mother and stole everything from me.

I wanted to look deep into your eyes and ask you whether it was worth it! This is the reward for everything that you have done in your life. I know that these words won't even touch you a bit which is why I am here to tell you about the news of your beloved wild daughter,’ the young girl said in a scorning tone.

Hope who had not been really listening to all this mocking finally woke up when she heard something about her daughter, ‘what did you do to my child?’

‘Ha ha ha, even at a time like this, you still care about that useless child! Since you are curious, I will tell you the good news. Your child has been doing a lot of interesting things lately, she ……………………………………………………………..’

Hope’s head was buzzing the second she heard the things her beloved daughter had been caught up in, she looked at the child who was once her step-daughter with so much hatred that she wanted to strangle her and end her.

‘Even if you look at me like this, you will not be able to do anything to me. This is just the beginning, since you took something from me, I am going to make your daughter’s life so miserable and there won’t be anything that you can do to me.’

The stepdaughter provoked Hope so much to the point that Hope fainted again and got admitted to the hospital. Hope went crazy as all she called for daily was her daughter and there was no news.

She blamed herself that if she had not been greedy and hung up on Jim, her daughter and herself would be living a luxurious life right now and not be in this kind of situation.

She truly regretted everything and she only hoped that before she meets her maker, she will see her daughter and beg for forgiveness but that chance was something she never got to see.

One day when she was in her cell, she received a message that she has a visitor, one month had already passed after meeting her hateful former step-daughter. When she saw the man who didn’t bother to come and face her properly when he divorced her, she wanted to scratch his face.

Hope wasn’t able to hold herself back and cussed Jim’s past and future generations but the man didn’t even care. He was looking at her with eyes filled with disgust and that love that used to be there was long gone.

‘I am going to ask you one question and you better answer it seriously or I will not tell you the news about your daughter!’

The man’s commanding tone was very clear and Hope who wanted to cause a ruckus shut up her mouth and asked, ‘what do you want?’

For her daughter, she was willing to do anything. The man saw that Hope had calmed down so he asked the question that had been bothering him for a long time since it didn’t make sense.

‘Did you kill her?’

Hope laughed like a maniac when she heard this question, ‘does it even matter now whether I did it or not? I did it and that is all you need to know, now tell me about my daughter!’

Jim looked at those eyes that looked very firm but Jim had known this person for long so he had his own suspicions, he had been mourning for months and what he wanted was just some answers and it seemed like he won’t be getting them fully at the moment.

So, he decided to show mercy and give the poor woman the news about her daughter. Who cares whether the news was good or bad?

So, when Jim left the prison with a downcast expression, he had no idea that it was the last time he was going to see Hope.

When the news reached Jim the next morning, he felt sad and a piece of him left him. Even when he buried the two urns of ashes next to each other, he felt as if he was in a dream.

Just like that Hope’s beloved daughter died in an accident on the spot and Hope who had heard the news of her daughter’s death, hang herself the same night she heard the news.
