CHAPTER 81: NIGHTMARE
Knowing that the only way to help Pearl and Robert was to expose the truth or in this case tell Ian the truth, they could only grit their teeth and decided on it.
So, Ian who had suspected numerous times and failed to receive the answers that he sought finally got to know what he had been dying to know and the truth greatly shocked him.
He didn’t know what to think of this son-in-law after hearing this but at the same time, he understood what love can make someone do.
Hope wasn’t innocent in the end and everything that Robert did was for Pearl. To give Pearl a good environment to live in, make her happy and smile, Robert did the only thing that he could and that was to get rid of Hope.
Of course, the truth finally came out in the end and this was unexpected. If it was Ian, he would have concealed it too. After all, letting someone with bad intentions towards him lose was just deadly like a virus without any antidote.
“Father, can you please plead on our behalf. I will do anything if she just let Pearl go. I can’t watch her suffer like this,” Robert’s body shook as he humbly begged Ian.
Ian had known Robert for a very long time now and he wasn’t the kind of man that will lower himself like this. His pride was as high as a mountain and Ian was very satisfied with him.
This was the first time that Robert asked him for something, even when he asked for Pearl’s hand in marriage, he wasn’t like this but Ian knows that his feelings for Pearl were real.
So, Ian couldn’t push himself to hate Robert for the move that he did. The people involved were already dead and Ian didn’t have anyone to blame or seek answers from anymore.
He only hopes that the young lady who caused this will be satisfied and leave his family alone. They have already suffered enough and he didn’t want any scandals to happen because of this.
“I will go in the morning and ask her. I am afraid that if we go right now, we may only manage to invoke more anger!” Ian sighed helplessly while shaking his head.
“But……” Robert didn’t even want to wait but Ian’s glare stopped him from talking further.
“Leave everything to me! Just take care of Pearl and make sure that nothing happens to her!” Ian felt as if he had aged several years.
He didn’t want to stay longer, hearing his daughter whimpering because of pain, really made his heartache. Every time he looks at the two he will be reminded that if it wasn’t for them………..Ayas, it was just for the best if he leaves and calms his mind done.
Robert knew that he was in trouble but he hoped that everything will go well and even if it doesn’t, then he was going to use every single asset he owns to get the desired results.
Ian left and Robert was left to hug his teary wife. Pearl wasn’t crying because of the pain of being hurt by that unknown woman, it was because she had just heard some shocking truth she wouldn’t have known if they weren’t forced into this situation.
To think that it had been like this all these years, Pearl didn’t know how to look at herself. She felt as if she had been living a huge lie and all that hate and anger, she had felt for decades felt like a waste, was it really like this?
Even without Pearl saying a word, Robert knew that Pearl was blaming herself deeply, feeling guilty and dreaded him. He had hidden this for years and she just found out about this, she was going to hate him for a while.
But even if it is like that, there was no way that he was going to let her go. He would rather have her hate him than let her go.
“Baby, it’s going to be okay!” Robert whispered in a comforting tone as he hugged Pearl closer to his body.
Pearl shrugged and tried her best to move out of Robert’s embrace but he didn’t let her slip away from him.
“Baby, we are going to make it through this. I am willing to give up anything as long as you are okay, so don’t shrug me away, okay!” Robert whined as he pulled her closer to him once more.
Pearl’s body began to tremble and the whimpering turned into crying now. Robert could only remain still and let Pearl cry her heart out.
The couple remained like this for over twenty minutes before Pearl finally calmed down.
At this moment in her head, Pearl was also questioning herself. Robert wasn’t the only person to blame here. Pearl knew with all her heart and soul that Robert loved her and he had done a lot of things for her.
If it wasn’t for her, Robert wouldn’t have committed such atrocities. She was the one to blame for all of this. And what she needed to do right now wasn’t to push her husband away but to stand strong together and find a way to solve this problem once and for all.
After coming to that conclusion Pearl didn’t reject Robert’s touch and tried to turn around but the pain was just excruciating. She couldn’t help but hiss, a frown appearing on her face and beads of sweat appearing on her forehead.
Robert felt sad and bad seeing this, he couldn’t help but help Pearl turn around smoothly and avoiding to make her feel as much pain as possible. Pearl was very grateful to Robert, even when she acts like a snob, he was always there for her and didn’t leave her for anyone.
He always stood by her every day and she prided herself to be one of the lucky ones in marriages. Not all marriages were good, even her own parents made her want to vow off marriage but it all changed when Robert came into her life and showed her the light.
He was the knight in shining armor, that prince charming who came to save her when she was stuck in that dark dungeon. When she was in that dark place and left without any hope of getting out, he handed her his hand and she was taken into the light.
How can she let him carry the burden by himself when he did everything for her?
