Chapter 106
“You had the audacity to purchase a property in my estate and then show up here to see my husband, all while claiming you suffer from amnesia?”
"Your estate?" Ariana asked, genuinely surprised.
"Yes, my estate," Lily responded sharply. "Apparently, you missed the part in the contract where it clearly states that this estate belongs to me, Lily Kane."
Ariana was stunned. She had never imagined that Alexander would list Lily as the owner of the entire estate. The realization hit her hard, stirring emotions she struggled to keep under control.
Attempting to regain her composure, Carolina interjected, "I apologize for intruding, Mr. and Mrs. Kane. My daughter and I will leave now. We’ve done what we came here to do—offer our apologies for the mistakes she made in the past. She’s just trying to start anew, and part of that is seeking forgiveness from those she wronged. It's late; we should be going, Ariana." She took Ariana by the arm, and they walked back to their car. Samson turned the vehicle around and drove them away from the estate.
Lily remained standing until the car was out of sight, her mind racing.
Alexander, filled with anger, quickly dialed James’s number. "How in the world did Ariana manage to buy a house in the Hills estate?"
"What?" James's eyes widened in shock.
"Find out how she was able to secure that property from the real estate agency and report back to me immediately," Alexander ordered before abruptly hanging up.
"Don’t worry; I’ll make sure she leaves this estate," he said resolutely.
Lily sighed, attempting to calm the situation. "She’s already bought the house. Let’s just let it go."
"No," Alexander replied firmly, leaving no room for argument.
"Alexander, I’ll handle this..."
"No," Alexander interrupted. "I don’t want you involved with her at all."
Lily sighed. "Well, I already have a project to manage with her, so I’ll be seeing her at work starting next week. Besides, this isn’t our main residence—we can just stop coming here on weekends and visit our other properties. We have more than one estate. I’m suggesting this because of what happened online last time. She’s obviously very dramatic, and if we try to cancel her ownership and refund her payment, she might go public with it, causing us more trouble than we need."
Alexander considered her words and eventually nodded. "You’re right, my love. But after your business dealings with her are over, I don’t want you having anything more to do with her. I don’t care if she really lost her memory or not. As far as I’m concerned, she’s dead to me."
When Samson pulled into their driveway, Ariana stormed out of the car and headed straight into the mansion without waiting for her mother. It wasn’t long before Carolina and Samson heard the sound of objects being smashed inside. Rushing in, they found Ariana destroying the newly purchased, expensive items in the living room and dining area.
"Ariana, stop!" Carolina screamed, but Ariana continued to break everything in sight—vases, paintings, anything within reach.
"Enough, Ariana, you’re losing your mind!" Carolina shouted again, while Samson stood frozen, shocked by the destruction she was causing. He had seen his boss overreact before, but never to this extent.
Once there was nothing left to destroy, Ariana turned to her mother, tears streaming down her face. "He bought her this entire estate, Mother. He did that for her." Her voice was filled with anguish. "Do you know why I’m losing it? Because he promised to buy me an estate and put it in my name. Me!" She pointed at herself, overwhelmed with emotion. "But instead, he did it for her! I wish I had never betrayed him. That way, I would have been the one by his side, the one he loves, the one with his child!" Her tears fell uncontrollably.
"Oh, my child," Carolina said softly, walking over to embrace her. "I’m here for you, okay? You don’t have to cry anymore. Stop crying, my girl; you’ll be fine."
Ariana sniffled, resting her head on her mother’s shoulder. "Thank you, Mother, for being here. I don’t know what I’d do without you," she said, her voice trembling with sorrow.
Does this mean she’s going to fall apart when she discovers all that Alexander has done for Lily?
The Following Week...
Ariana began her work week by visiting her family’s company branch in Aurora City before heading to the Blake Group headquarters. She had read countless business magazines and interviews detailing all of Lily’s accomplishments since she took over as CEO of Blake Corporation. Everything about Lily seemed flawless—her success, her perfect husband—and it infuriated Ariana. But she reassured herself that, slowly but surely, she would take everything away from Lily.
Steeling herself, Ariana entered the massive building. She took the elevator to the 49th floor, where Lily’s office was located.
Inside, Lily was with Sarah when Katrina informed her that Ariana had arrived with her assistant, Emily.
Lily and Sarah exchanged knowing glances.
"You’re really going to do business with her? Seriously? You’re going to work with your husband’s ex, the one who betrayed him?" Sarah asked, clearly upset.
Lily sighed. "You’re in law enforcement, Sarah, so you know that a contract like this can’t just be terminated. The last thing I want is to give her any share of this company, even if it’s just 1%."
"Damn it," Sarah muttered. "I’m sure she planned this from the start. She probably approved the deal just to get close to Alexander. You need to be careful with her, Lily. I’m almost certain she hasn’t lost her memory like she claims."
Lily listened to her friend’s concerns and nodded, seemingly unbothered. "After my contract with her is finished, I’ll have no further dealings with her."
"Ma’am, she’s here," Katrina announced.
Sarah sighed, giving Lily a tight hug. "Please be careful, Lily. I’m going to miss you."
"I’ll miss you too, and my godchild," Lily replied with a smile.
Sarah was heading back to Country C with Anthony, where they had made their home.
"Goodbye."
After saying their farewells, Sarah left the office. On her way out, she encountered Ariana walking toward the office.
Ariana shot her an indifferent look, about to walk past, but Sarah stepped in front of her, blocking her path.
"Excuse me, do you need something?" Ariana asked, irritated that she was being stopped.
"Yes, I do. I want you to stay away from Lily, Alexander, and their child. Any business you have with her should remain strictly professional and nothing more."
"And who are you to tell me this?" Ariana replied, pretending not to know who Sarah was.
"I’m her best friend, Sarah Mascots, wife of Anthony Mascots. I’m sure you know who he is."
Ariana already knew that Anthony, a billionaire, had married Lily’s friend. But she maintained her facade. "That doesn’t put you in a position to make decisions for them," she retorted.
Sarah stepped closer, causing Ariana to take a slight step back. Sarah smirked. "I know you didn’t lose your memory as you claim and that you’ve planned this all along. You’d better not try anything shady, or you’ll regret it," she warned.
Ariana smiled, unfazed. "Can I go now?"
"Not quite. One last thing."
"What is it?"
"Your first name starts with an A, right? Well, the last woman who tried to go against Lily also had a name starting with the letter A. Care to guess where she is now?"
Ariana gave her a dismissive look. "I have no idea what you’re implying."
"Since you won’t guess, I’ll tell you," Sarah said, leaning in closer until she could whisper in Ariana’s ear. "She’s six feet under as we speak. That’s what happens to anyone who crosses Lily. So, whatever battle you think you’re about to start, you’d better reconsider because Lily will make you wish you never woke up from that coma." Sarah then stepped back to observe Ariana’s reaction, catching a glimpse of anger before it quickly disappeared.
Sarah smiled again. "I must admit, you’re good at hiding your emotions. But don’t worry; soon enough, you won’t be able to hide them anymore."
