Chapter 48
Over the last month, many things have changed between them. Even though Alexander never verbally expressed love or affection, his actions spoke volumes about how much she meant to him. The past two months had brought her everything she wished for. Firstly, Alexander was developing feelings for her. Secondly, she had become the vice president of the Blake empire. Thirdly, she was expecting a child. Fourthly, she enjoyed a good relationship with his grandmother and his sister. However, her happiness would be incomplete until she sought justice for her sisters’ deaths.
“I discovered where the person who shot them that day is hiding.”
“Where is he?”
“In a small village in the west.”
“I don’t want you involved in this anymore. Leave it to me. I’ll handle everything, and soon, you’ll see justice for your sisters’ deaths. You just need to take care of yourself and our baby.”
“I want to be there when you get the truth out of him.”
“Do you want me to deal with them completely?” Alexander’s meaning was clear.
Lilly shook her head. “I want the world to know they’re responsible. I want them to be imprisoned and to face consequences, not to have an easy way out.”
“Who said anything about an easy way out? I plan to make sure they face the full consequences,” Alexander inadvertently voiced his thoughts.
Lilly’s eyes widened at his statement. “No, you will only get the truth from the person responsible, and I want to be there when you do it.”
“Are you sure you want to be there?”
“Yes.”
“I don’t want you there,” he said firmly.
Seeing the seriousness in his eyes, she realized he wouldn’t let her witness the interrogation, but she still wanted to be present. “I also need to vent my anger. He killed my sisters.”
“No,” he replied sternly. The last thing he wanted was for her to be exposed to the underworld and its methods.
“Please,” she pleaded.
Alexander’s expression hardened. “When I say no, it means no.” He stood up from the couch and began walking out. Lilly immediately followed him into the elevator and into his room.
“You won’t change my mind.”
“I’m not trying to change your mind.” She placed his suit jacket on the bed and began helping him remove his shirt.
Alexander watched her as she undressed him, placing her hands on his bare chest. Her touch was enough to ignite his desire. He leaned down and kissed her passionately, and she reciprocated with equal fervor. He lifted her onto the bed and hovered over her, kissing her until they were both breathless.
“I don’t want you to go back to your room anymore. Clara will move your things to my room.”
Her heart swelled with happiness. She had been waiting for him to say that. She leaned in and kissed him. “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you to say that?”
“How long?”
“Since the day you evicted me from the room,” she replied, watching as he smirked.
She rarely saw him smile, and when he did, she couldn’t help but stare. He was incredibly handsome, and she never got enough of him. Alexander didn’t waste time, pulling off her nightgown and taking her. After a couple of rounds, she begged him to stop. He did, not because he wanted to, but because he was considering their baby, not wanting to cause harm.
Alexander wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close to his chest as she quickly fell asleep from exhaustion. He smiled down at her and kissed her forehead.
The following morning, he picked up where they had left off. She had barely opened her eyes when he began again. His every thrust sent her to heaven, each time showing her his prowess in bed. He explored every part of her body, kissing every inch.
When she looked at herself in the mirror in the closet, she gasped at the hickeys covering her body. She touched the marks on her neck, chest, and even her thighs, amazed at how she hadn’t noticed him leaving them.
Lilly sighed, placing her hand on her belly and smiling. Her pregnancy was only four months along and not yet visible. She had documents to sign at the office and a lunch date with Sandra, so she needed to wear something that covered the hickeys. Alexander had marked her and then left for work.
She chose black pants, a white silky long-sleeve shirt, and a long cream coat to cover the marks. Thankfully, the weather was getting colder, so the coat wouldn’t raise questions.
At the Blake empire headquarters, she was greeted warmly by employees. It had been a month since she took the vice president role, and she had built good relationships with the staff. In that month, the company’s stock had risen, and her name was making headlines as the youngest successful vice president and heir to her family empire.
When she stepped off the elevator on her office floor, she was surprised to see Kate standing outside her office.
“What are you doing here?”
Kate turned at her voice. “Dearest sister,” she smiled.
Kate had been pretending to be a good sister since Lilly became vice president. As she approached, Kate noticed the hickey on Lilly’s neck and frowned inwardly. She had learned the reason behind Lilly and Alexander’s marriage but was infuriated that Lilly was succeeding in gaining Alexander’s affection.
Kate’s gaze shifted to Lilly’s belly. Recently, she and her mother discovered Lilly was carrying Alexander’s child. Lilly’s heart raced in fear, knowing her stepsister’s dangerous nature. Despite her fear, she remained calm.
“You still haven’t told me why you’re here.”
Kate smiled. “My dear sister looks so happy, but how long will that last?”
“Forever,” Lilly replied.
Kate laughed maniacally. “You’ve taken everything from me, everything I ever wanted. But it’s okay; what are sisters for?”
“Leave,” Lilly ordered.
Kate raised her hands in mock defeat. “Okay, okay, I’m leaving.” She walked towards the elevator, the door opened, and she stepped inside. As the door closed, Kate’s smile vanished. “Today is your last day on earth, Lilly.”
She had come to say her final goodbyes.
