Chapter 130
Ariana stormed out of the room, slamming the door hard behind her to express her fury. As she left the hospital, her mind was consumed with thoughts of what Lily had said, and the anger inside her only grew. Lily's words echoed in her memory, fueling her rage. Ariana started to wonder what Lily might be planning against her, but she was determined to strike first. There was no way Lily would be able to make a move without Alexander knowing about it.
Without hesitation, Ariana pulled out her phone and made a call.
"Ma'am," the voice on the other end answered.
"Get it done immediately. I’m out of patience," Ariana ordered, her tone icy.
"Understood, ma'am," the person replied before hanging up.
Samson, who was driving, glanced at her through the rearview mirror and shook his head slightly. He wished she could just let all of this go, but Ariana never listened. He silently hoped her obsession with Alexander wouldn’t lead to her downfall. From what he had heard, Lily was the calm but vengeful type—maybe not as ruthless as Alexander, but if you hurt the people she loved, she’d come after you with a vengeance.
Since his boss had chosen this dangerous path, Samson felt obligated to support her to the end because he genuinely cared for her.
In one of Alexander’s secret locations, the screams of men being tortured echoed from one of the rooms. Alexander had captured more individuals linked to the gang that had attacked Lily and his daughter. He was determined to extract information about the gang leader’s whereabouts, no matter how long it took.
As Alexander stood there, watching the torture unfold, he still wasn’t satisfied. He wished they would suffer even more. The torment continued for over an hour before Roland, one of his men, entered and whispered something in his ear. This caused Alexander to raise his hand, signaling the torturers to stop.
Alexander left the torture room with Roland and walked into a spacious office with a desk, couches, and an executive chair.
"What was it you just told me?" Alexander asked.
"You instructed us to monitor any visitors to Mrs. Kane who weren’t family or close friends. I received word from the men watching her that Ariana visited her today. Interestingly, Mrs. Kane requested that her security not be present when Ariana arrived. They spoke for about 20 minutes before Ariana left in a rage, accompanied by her bodyguard," Roland explained.
Alexander listened intently. "Did you find out where she was when the accident happened?"
"Yes, sir. She traveled out of the country the day before the accident, supposedly for business with her assistant, who was hired by her mother."
"Track her calls during that time, and find out where they were made from," Alexander ordered.
"You think she’s behind it?"
"Why else would she visit Lily?" Alexander replied coldly.
"I suppose only Lily knows why Ariana was there. Maybe you should ask your wife—and take the chance to spend some time with her. You’ve missed her, even if you don’t want to admit it," Roland suggested.
"Focus on finding out what Ariana did overseas, including who she communicated with. After what happened with her previous assistant, who’s now in prison, I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s involved in this too," Alexander said, ignoring Roland’s suggestion about spending time with Lily.
"And if we find nothing?"
"Then bring her here," Alexander replied.
Roland nodded and left to carry out his orders. He had left his own company’s affairs to assist Alexander and preferred this work to sitting behind a desk, dealing with dull paperwork.
As he got into his car, his phone buzzed with a news alert. The headline caught his attention: *ARIANA SPEAKS OUT ABOUT THE KANE ACCIDENT.*
Roland clicked on the link to watch the live news broadcast.
"MRS. MARTINS, CAN YOU TELL US WHY YOU VISITED MRS. KANE IN THE HOSPITAL, CONSIDERING YOU TWO AREN’T EXACTLY CLOSE?"
"Well, we were close before certain issues arose between us. I’ve always admired Mrs. Kane and even thought we might become like sisters one day. So, as soon as I heard about the accident, I went straight from the airport to the hospital to check on her," Ariana said, her voice filled with false warmth.
Ariana continued her speech, clearly aware that her visit to Lily would make Alexander suspicious. She’d called the reporters herself, giving this public statement to manipulate the narrative. She knew Lily wouldn’t tell Alexander about her visit because whatever Lily was planning, she wanted to handle it without involving her husband.
Smiling to herself, Ariana thought about how this would drive a wedge between Alexander and Lily. He despised liars and betrayers, and once he found out, he’d cast Lily out of his life—just as he had done to his mother. But Ariana didn’t plan to wait that long. She intended to eliminate Lily and take her place as Alexander’s wife.
After watching the interview, Roland instructed his driver to turn around and head back to the base. When he returned, he found Alexander at his desk, reviewing documents related to their underground operations.
"Did you see the news?" Roland asked.
"Yes."
"So, what’s the next move?"
"Do what I told you to do," Alexander said firmly.
"The media will be watching closely after her interview. They’ll be waiting to see how we respond," Roland warned.
Alexander’s cold gaze silenced him. "Understood. I’ll continue the investigation. If I find anything, I’ll drag her back here," Roland replied.
Meanwhile, Carolina, Ariana’s mother, had seen the interview and was waiting for her daughter to return. As soon as Ariana walked through the door, Carolina confronted her.
"What did you just do?"
"Mother, I’ve just returned from a stressful trip. Can’t you greet me before launching into questions?" Ariana responded irritably.
"Why would you visit her? And why do I get the feeling you’re involved in this, despite your assistant telling me you were busy with work?"
"You can accuse me all you want, Mother. It’s nothing new," Ariana said dismissively, heading upstairs.
Carolina sighed. "I just hope you’re not doing something that’ll be your undoing," she said softly.
Ariana paused on the staircase and looked back. "Don’t worry, I won’t fail," she replied confidently before heading to her room and shutting the door.
Back at the hospital, Lily had also seen the interview and couldn’t help but laugh. So, Ariana was afraid of Alexander’s suspicion? But even after this public stunt, Alexander would still keep an eye on her. Soon, Lily would be discharged from the hospital, and she would deal with Ariana herself.
Ariana would pay for the death of Pedro, her loyal bodyguard, for the condition she had left Angela in, and for targeting her and her family. Ariana’s end was near.
