Chapter 50
Lilly watched in horror as the vehicle sped towards the ice cream stand. "Sandra!! No!!" she screamed, her heart breaking as the car struck Sandra, sending her crashing to the ground. Lilly rushed to Sandra, who lay motionless.
"Sandra!!" she cried, clutching Sandra's body close. "Please stay with me, Sandra, I beg you," she pleaded, holding her tightly.
Some of the bodyguards pursued the fleeing vehicle, while Pedro and Samuel quickly called for an ambulance. Lilly gazed at the blood on the ground, her hands and clothes stained with Sandra's blood.
"Please, Sandra, don't close your eyes. Stay with me, I beg you," Lilly sobbed, the scene bringing back memories of when her sisters were shot and lay lifeless. She would have been a victim too if not for the surrounding crowd that prevented the assassin from taking another shot.
"Please stay with me," she cried, tears streaming down her face and her forehead drenched in sweat. Alexander wiped her forehead, but she continued to sweat, haunted by the events of two days ago. The tragic incident had caused Lilly to faint, and she had yet to wake up, plagued by nightmares.
"Sandra," she murmured in her sleep. Alexander sat by her hospital bed, watching her speak in her sleep. The sight of her in this state pained him deeply, and his sister's condition weighed heavily on him.
Sandra was fighting for her life in the intensive care unit. Alexander couldn't bear to think about what might have happened to Lilly and their baby. He held her cold hand and kissed it. The doctor's report revealed that she had experienced a similar trauma before, which was why she hadn't woken up. Alexander knew that the incident had triggered memories of the tragic event a year ago when her sisters were killed.
"Please wake up," he whispered, staring at her pale face. "I will ensure those who harmed you will pay dearly."
After investigating, it was discovered that Lilly was the real target, but they had attacked his sister instead. The driver and other gang members involved were currently being interrogated by his associates. The incident had caused Lilly significant emotional trauma, preventing her from waking up.
James entered the VIP room, observing Alexander tending to Lilly, who had been unconscious for two days. Alexander hadn't left her side, showing how much he cared for her.
James was with Alexander when they received the call about the accident. Alexander had rushed out of his office, and upon arriving at the hospital, they saw Lilly standing in front of the ICU, her hands stained with blood, crying for Sandra. James vividly remembered Alexander's expression upon seeing her like that.
It was the first time James had seen Alexander so distressed, seeing Lilly and his sister in such conditions. Lilly had fainted in front of them, and James had rushed to catch her. Alexander refused to let her go until they reminded him that the doctor needed to check on her.
The only time Alexander left the hospital was when they captured the driver who hit Sandra. Alexander tortured the driver until he revealed the name of his employer. The search for the mastermind behind the attempted murder continued.
Alexander looked up towards the door. "What are you doing here?" he asked coldly.
"You weren't answering your calls, so I decided to come here," James replied.
"Did you find the gang leader?" Alexander inquired.
"Not yet," James responded.
"Then why are you here!" Alexander yelled, his anger evident.
"Calm down. I'm here regarding the other matter you asked us to handle," James said.
"Did you locate the assassin?" Alexander asked.
"Yes, our men are currently transporting him to the base," James confirmed.
"Inform me when he arrives," Alexander instructed.
"How can I do that when you're not answering your phone?" James retorted.
"Leave if you have nothing else to say," Alexander ordered.
"You do realize I have my own responsibilities, right?" James said.
"Then let Alexander handle it if you're too busy," Alexander suggested.
"That's not what I meant," James clarified.
"Then what do you mean?" Alexander pressed.
"I mean you should be considerate," James explained.
Alexander frowned and gave him a stern look. "Don't do it if you can't, and if you want to, make sure not to come back here without the name of the person responsible."
James sighed. "I'll do it."
"I thought as much," Alexander said.
"Her stepmother and stepsister were responsible for her sisters' deaths, so I'm certain they did this. I want you to confirm it. By the time I'm done with them, they'll regret hurting those I care about," Alexander said, his expression darkening.
"I'll do as you asked," James promised, glancing at Lilly. "You love her, don't you?"
Alexander remained silent, his gaze fixed on Lilly.
"Your silence speaks volumes. Even if you deny it, it's obvious. You haven't left her side for a moment. You must be afraid of history repeating itself, but Lilly is different. One piece of advice: tell her how you feel when she wakes up. You already know how she feels about you," James advised before leaving the room.
After James left, Alexander doubled Lilly's blanket to keep her warm. He stared at her pale face. "We've found the assassin who killed your sisters, so you need to wake up to seek justice for their deaths. Haven't you slept enough?" Alexander asked the unconscious Lilly.
