Chapter 94

A day later, Peter arrived at one of the most secure prisons in Aurora City where Bella was held. Each step felt like a burden as he approached the formidable gates. After undergoing multiple security checks, he was finally allowed inside to visit Bella.

It had been three long years since Bella, his former wife, was incarcerated for the heinous crime of murdering his first wife and Lilly's sisters, as well as plotting against Lilly herself. Peter had sworn never to visit her, burdened by his grief and anger.

But recent events had shaken him deeply. Kate had crossed a line that could not be ignored—she had kidnapped Viola, his granddaughter, thrusting both families into a nightmare of fear and despair. Peter had made the difficult decision to visit Bella after Lilly recounted everything that had happened in Kate's underground lair. Learning about what Lilly endured enraged him. If Alexander's friend hadn’t arrived in time with his team, Lilly might have perished in that fire.

As Peter walked through the cold, sterile corridors of the prison, memories of the years he spent with Bella flooded his mind. Who could have imagined things would turn out this way?

Finally, he reached the visiting area, where Bella sat behind a thick glass barrier, dressed in an orange jumpsuit. She looked older than the last time he had seen her.

When Bella raised her head and saw Peter, her eyes widened in shock. She wasn’t expecting him, nor was she anticipating anyone to visit her. She had heard that Alexander had ordered no one to visit her, so when she was informed of a visitor, she was genuinely surprised and curious to see who it was. Their eyes met, and Peter stared at her for a moment before taking his seat.

He picked up the phone, taking a deep breath before speaking, his voice filled with a mix of anger and disappointment. "I vowed never to come here and see your face again, not after everything you did to my family. I was good to you, Bella. I cheated on my wife with you, letting down my entire family. From the moment I allowed you into the Blake residence, my once happy family was ruined. I was a fool and the worst father to my children. You murdered my wife, my two daughters, and even attempted to kill Lilly."

He clenched his fist as he spoke. "You poisoned Kate's mind, turning her against her own sister. In case you’re unaware, Kate escaped from prison with outside help. And do you know what she did?"

Bella, who had been looking down, snapped her head up, eyes wide with shock upon hearing that Kate had escaped. Did it make her happy that her daughter had managed to flee? Yes, it did. She was resigned to dying in prison herself, but the thought of Kate spending her life there troubled her deeply. She felt a twisted pride that her daughter had escaped and hoped she would go far and live her life freely.

"Kate kidnapped Lilly's child and tried to kill Lilly again, as well as harm Alexander, all in the name of revenge."

Bella was stunned. She hadn’t expected Kate to do that; she had hoped Kate would be smart enough to flee as far as possible. Kate should have known that going against Alexander would only lead to her death.

"Thankfully, she didn’t succeed. Right now, Kate and her accomplices are locked up in one of Alexander's bases. This time, he plans to end her life for good. If she tries to escape, she will meet the same fate."

Bella’s eyes widened in shock. "No," she muttered, shaking her head and attempting to stand, but the female prison guard held her down.

Bella, who hadn’t spoken until now, quickly picked up the phone to speak to Peter. "Peter, please, I'm begging you—don't let them do it. I'm sorry for everything I've done. Please don't let Kate be killed."

Peter sighed. "There’s nothing I can do. Lilly and Alexander have already made up their minds," he said solemnly.

"She’s your daughter!" Bella cried out through the phone, forcing Peter to pull it away from his ear slightly.

Tears began to stream down her face, and Peter watched as she wept.

"Yes, she is my daughter. Do you think what Kate has done doesn’t affect me? Of course it does. It breaks my heart to see her living this way. But do you really think there’s anything I can do?"

"Yes, you can plead on her behalf! Are you really going to stand by and watch Lilly kill her own sister?" Bella implored.

Peter was taken aback. He couldn't bear the thought—they were sisters, after all, despite everything. But Kate was unrepentant, and if she were allowed to live, she would undoubtedly come back to harm Lilly and her family.

"Please, Peter, do something. You’re a father—how can you just stand by and watch her die?" Bella sobbed.

Peter dropped the phone and stood up. He was filled with regret and remorse for everything that had happened in his family. If things were the way they were now, it was all his fault. If he hadn’t cheated on his first wife with Bella, none of this would have happened. His two daughters would still be alive, and his first wife would still be with him.

Peter was about to leave but felt there was one last thing he needed to say. He picked up the phone again.

"I'm sorry, Bella. I'm sorry for ever meeting you all those years ago. If we had never met, things wouldn’t have turned out this way. My family would still be whole, and you would have found someone else and had your own happy family. I will carry this regret with me until the day I die."

Bella listened to his words, tears streaming down her face.

As Peter walked away from the prison, he wondered if his words had made any difference. Bella might be locked up, but the wounds she had inflicted on their lives were still painfully fresh.

After leaving the prison, he headed straight to Alexander's base, where Lilly was. Even though Lilly wanted to end Kate's life, Peter was determined not to let her kill her own sister with her own hands.

At the base, Lilly stood a short distance from Kate, holding a shotgun aimed at Kate's head.
