Chapter 60

Lilly gazed out of the airplane window as it descended, a smile spreading across her face. She was thrilled to be returning home after three long weeks away due to work. The separation from her family had been difficult, especially leaving behind her little girl and her irritated husband, who had been upset about her lengthy business trip. She was sure that now that she was back, he wouldn’t let her take such a distant trip again for work purposes.

Thinking back to their video call the previous day, Lilly almost laughed. She had teased him, saying she wouldn't be able to come back today, and he had gotten so angry that she had to quickly clarify. He had shown her their daughter sleeping in their bed, explaining that she refused to sleep in her room because she didn't want the house to feel empty, indirectly expressing his own loneliness.

The memory made her giggle.

Lilly didn't want to be away from them. Since taking over as the president of Blake Group, her schedule had been packed, filled with late nights and frequent travel. Now that she was back, she intended to work regular hours and devote the rest of her time to her husband and daughter.

Exiting the airport, Lilly was accompanied by her assistant and personal guard. She scanned the crowd, hoping to spot Alexander.

"Mommy!" her daughter’s voice called out, and she turned to see her little girl running toward her on tiny legs.

Lilly dropped her hand luggage and ran to meet her daughter.

"My baby, I missed you so much!" Lilly picked her up, showering her with kisses and spinning her around.

Her daughter’s face lit up with joy. She touched her mother's long blonde hair and kissed her cheek. "I missed you too, Mommy," she said in her tiny voice.

"And I missed you, my darling," Lilly replied, swinging her around and making her laugh. She hadn't expected her daughter to come to the airport to greet her.

"But Daddy missed you more," her daughter said.

Lilly looked around but didn’t see Alexander. She only saw a large group of bodyguards and nannies accompanying her daughter.

"Where's Daddy?"

"In the car," her daughter replied.

Lilly frowned inwardly. He hadn't come to welcome her and was waiting in the car instead? She smiled at her daughter and held her close. "Let’s go."

Her assistant had already collected her bags. Onlookers couldn't help but snap photos of the beautiful woman and her adorable child.

Outside the airport, several luxury cars were lined up, their presence drawing attention from passersby who admired and photographed the expensive, limited-edition vehicles, all in sleek black.

In the back seat of the first car, Alexander frequently checked his watch and glanced out the window, waiting. He had let their daughter go inside to greet her mother while he waited in the car, as much as he wanted to be the one to welcome her.

He looked out the window and saw a beautiful woman approaching the car, holding a cute toddler who was bouncing with excitement.

Alexander smiled at the sight but quickly composed himself as the car door opened.

Lilly entered the car, holding an excited and happy little girl. She glanced at Alexander, who was looking at her with a calm expression. Was this his idea of welcoming her home? She frowned at him.

Noticing her expression, their daughter tapped on the car window nearest her father, signaling one of the bodyguards.

"Yes, little miss?" the bodyguard asked.

"I want to ride with Uncle James in the other car," she said in her tiny voice.

Sometimes, they wondered if she was really three years old, given how she spoke and acted so maturely at times.

"Okay, miss," the guard replied, opening the door and lifting her out to take her to the next car.

Alexander closed the door, leaving just him, Lilly, and the driver inside.

"Drive," he commanded, and the chauffeur started the engine, leading the convoy out of the airport.

Lilly snuggled closer to Alexander, resting her head on his chest. "I missed you. Didn’t you miss me?" She looked up at him, waiting for his response, knowing full well that he had missed her but wanting to hear him say it while looking into her eyes.

Alexander wrapped his arm around her. "I missed you so much," he said, then kissed her.

Lilly smiled and kissed him back.

They continued kissing, oblivious to the presence of the chauffeur. The kiss grew more passionate, and Alexander pulled back only when it became too heated, fearing he might lose control.

Lilly pouted. "Why did you stay in the car instead of coming to welcome me?"

Alexander ran his hand through her long hair. "If I had done that, we would have been front-page news tomorrow for public displays of affection," he explained. He wouldn’t have been able to resist kissing her and spinning her around in joy.

Lilly blushed at his words. She had gained many female rivals in the city after marrying Alexander. They were envious that he had chosen her over everyone else. The last time they displayed affection publicly, they became the talk of the internet, and she received many hateful comments. Alexander had been furious and had those who insulted her thrown into prison.

"Not that I mind," he added.

Lilly wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. "We can just do it indoors," she suggested.

Alexander smiled and nodded. "Agreed."

By the time they arrived home, their daughter had fallen asleep. Lilly took her to her room, changed her into her nightclothes, and tucked her into bed. She smiled at her daughter's adorable sleeping face before kissing her cheek and leaving the room.

Returning to the master bedroom, Lilly found it empty, indicating that Alexander was in his study.

Seizing the opportunity, she decided to take a warm bath. She sank into the bathtub, closed her eyes, and relaxed, not realizing when she drifted off to sleep.

Later that night, she woke up in bed, dressed in her nightclothes, wrapped in Alexander’s arms.

She rubbed her eyes and looked at him sleeping peacefully. She had dared to fall asleep after being away for three weeks; he wouldn’t let her off easily once he woke up.

And the next morning, that's exactly what happened. Alexander didn’t let her off. It was 10 a.m. when he finally had his fill. Lilly’s energy was almost on par with his, as she had missed him so much.

She stared at her reflection in the mirror, eyes widening at the sight of her neck. "Just look at this," she said to Alexander, who stood behind her.

Alexander wrapped his arms around her and smiled at his handiwork. "Isn’t it beautiful?"

Lilly opened her mouth to speak but closed it, speechless.

"Now I have to find a dress that will cover my neck," she sighed.

"Where are you going? You don’t have work today, so you should stay home and be a good wife."

Lilly turned around, helping him adjust his tie. "I don’t have work, but I plan to pick Viola up from school later and take her to see Grandma."

Alexander watched her as she straightened his tie. "Fine, but make sure you're both home by 7 p.m."

Lilly noticed the seriousness in his tone and wondered if there was another reason he wanted them back early.

She searched his face for answers but found none. "We’ll be home early," she assured him.

Alexander moved her hair aside and kissed her forehead before leaving.

It might just be that he wanted them to be safe and nothing more, she thought to herself.
