Chapter 58

Upon seeing their visitors, they were both taken aback. Kate glanced at Alexander, whose expression remained unreadable. Despite her current predicament, her heart still ached for this man.

Lilly observed their appearance, noting how drastically different they looked from before—almost unrecognizable.

A glass barrier separated the two groups. Lilly stood, walked to a chair near the glass, and sat down, picking up the telephone. Alexander, seated behind her, watched the proceedings silently.

Kate and Bella also picked up their telephones.

"How does it feel to be in here?" Lilly asked, receiving no response. "It must be awful, right? You'll both be here for the rest of your lives for all the harm you've caused my family."

"Bella," Lilly addressed her directly, who looked back at her. "You will regret ever interfering in my family's life and causing its destruction. I'll ensure you stay here."

Lilly expected to see a reaction from Bella, having seen her smirk during their sentencing, but Bella remained impassive. Lilly suspected Bella was plotting something, as she couldn't imagine Bella being content in prison without a plan to escape.

"If you think you can escape, understand this: you'll never leave this place," Lilly asserted before shifting her gaze to Kate, who was fixated on Alexander.

Despite everything, Kate still harbored feelings for Alexander.

Lilly wasn't worried, confident that Alexander would never notice Kate, not in this life or the next.

"Kate," Lilly called.

Kate's gaze shifted to Lilly's, her expression cold. Finally, Lilly saw a reaction. "You should start getting used to being here, or you'll go mad. You will never leave this place, ever," Lilly stated firmly.

Kate's face hardened, and her hand holding the telephone trembled with anger.

Having said her piece, Lilly left the prison with Alexander. On their way back to the city, she became lost in thought.

"The prison is secure; they won't be able to escape. If they try, they'll be caught or killed," Alexander assured confidently.

Lilly knew Alexander had inside contacts at the prison, making an escape impossible, yet she still worried.

After a few hours, they arrived at the graveyard. Lilly took flowers from the bodyguards and walked to the family graves near the Blake estate.

As they approached, they saw someone kneeling by the graves, crying softly. Lilly stopped, recognizing the figure.

Alexander stood beside her, looking at Peter, who was kneeling by his daughters' graves. Peter had been there for an hour, bringing flowers and incense to ask for forgiveness from his deceased daughters. His assistant, who had never seen him cry, was shocked.

A lot had happened to bring him to tears. Earlier, he had been stripped of his title as president of the Blake empire. When he confronted his father about it, his father declared that he was no longer his son and would be cut off from his inheritance and shares until further notice.

Peter had accepted his fate, begging his father for forgiveness and agreeing to wait until he was accepted back into the family. He left the family home, visited his daughters' graves, and now intended to leave the country.

"I will be leaving, but I promise to return soon. I will reconcile with Lilly and restore our family," Peter vowed.

"You're leaving?" Lilly's familiar voice surprised him. He stood and turned to see her and Alexander approaching.

"You're leaving?" Lilly repeated, taken aback by his announcement.

Peter nodded. "I'm leaving in three hours."

"Where are you going?"

"To Europe," he replied.

Lilly stared at him in silence. "Is this how you plan to fix our family? By leaving? Is this how you seek my forgiveness?"

Peter shook his head. "It's not my intention to run away..."

"Then what is your intention?" she demanded.

Peter sighed, trying to hold her hand, but she pulled away. "I'm sorry for hurting you and your sisters. I promise to come back soon, please," he pleaded sincerely.

Despite his sincerity, Lilly was not ready to forgive. "Then leave this instant," she said coldly.

"Lilly, I—"

"Leave!" she repeated.

Peter nodded and slowly walked away, his assistant following but glancing back at Lilly with a sigh. Why couldn't she forgive him?

Lilly turned away, tears streaming down her face. Alexander, who had been silent, embraced her from behind before turning her around for a proper hug. "Shh, it's okay," he soothed.

"He's leaving just like that," she lamented.

"I'm here for you. You don't need anyone else," he assured her.

After she stopped crying, Lilly paid her respects to her sisters, placing white and red flowers—colors they loved—on their graves and lighting incense. She prayed, "May you rest in peace," before standing.

Alexander intertwined their fingers. "How do you feel now?" he asked.

Lilly closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and exhaled. "I feel relieved and at peace, like a heavy burden has been lifted."

Alexander smiled. "That's good because now you can focus on our baby and me. I want you in our child's life and mine until death do us part."

Lilly smiled back. "Until death do us part," she repeated.

"I love you, Lilly Blake Kane," he said, gazing into her eyes.

Lilly decided it was the right moment to ask a question that had been on her mind. "When did you start having feelings for me?"

"From the very first day I saw you," Alexander answered without hesitation.

Lilly's eyes widened in surprise. "From the very first day?"

"Yes," he confirmed.

"How...?" she began.

"I didn't realize it then because I didn't want to accept it. I hated that you had an ex. But I knew I loved you when your grandfather took you away, and I almost went crazy," Alexander explained, maintaining eye contact.

Lilly smiled, surprised that his feelings had been there from the start. "I love you too, Alexander, and I always will."

Alexander leaned in and kissed her. The bodyguards, standing at a respectful distance, turned away, giving the couple their privacy.
