Chapter 143

Back at the safehouse, the tension had lifted slightly, but the air was still heavy with the aftermath of the night’s events. Lily sat in the living room, her mind replaying everything that had happened. The team members were scattered around, some tending to minor injuries, others discussing their next steps in hushed tones.

Caleb entered the room, his face tired but relieved. He walked over to Lily and placed a hand on her shoulder. “You did well tonight,” he said softly.

She nodded, but her mind was still racing. “I just can’t shake the feeling that we’re not done, Caleb. Ariana… she’s too dangerous. Even in custody, she could still find a way to hurt us.”

He nodded, understanding her concern. “We’ll tighten security around the estate and make sure she’s under constant surveillance. She won’t get another chance.”

Lily sighed, leaning back in her chair. “It’s just hard to believe it’s finally over. After everything she’s done, it feels surreal.”

Just then, Alexander walked in, his eyes searching for Lily. When he saw her, he crossed the room and sat down beside her, his presence reassuring.

“How are you holding up?” he asked, his voice gentle.

“I’m okay,” she replied, offering him a small smile. “Just trying to process everything.”

He reached out and took her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. “You were incredible tonight, Lily. You kept your head, and you made sure no one else got hurt.”

She looked at him, her eyes serious. “But what if it’s not over, Alexander? What if she has more tricks up her sleeve?”

“We’ll handle it, whatever comes,” he said firmly. “We’re in this together, remember?”

Lily nodded, her heart swelling with gratitude. She knew she wasn’t alone in this fight, and that gave her strength.

Suddenly, Caleb’s phone buzzed, and he glanced at the screen, his expression darkening. He answered the call, listening intently. After a moment, he nodded and hung up.

“What’s wrong?” Alexander asked, noticing the change in Caleb’s demeanor.

“That was one of our sources,” Caleb said, his voice tense. “There’s been a breach. Ariana’s escaped.”

Lily’s heart dropped. “What? How?”

Caleb shook his head, frustration etched on his face. “It seems she had help from the inside. Some corrupt officials, maybe. We don’t have all the details yet, but she’s gone.”

The room fell silent as the reality of the situation sank in. Ariana was free, and that meant she could strike again at any moment.

“We need to find her,” Lily said, her voice filled with determination. “Before she disappears completely.”

“We will,” Caleb assured her. “I’ve already put our best people on it. She won’t get far.”

But Lily knew better than to underestimate Ariana. She had a way of slipping through the cracks, of turning even the tightest situations to her advantage. They had to be ready for anything.

Alexander stood up, his jaw set with resolve. “I’ll coordinate with the teams. We need eyes on every possible exit route, every connection she might have.”

Lily followed him, her mind racing. “We need to think like her. Where would she go? What’s her next move?”

“Maybe she’s trying to regroup, gather her resources,” Michael suggested, joining them. “She must have a safe house somewhere, a place she can lay low.”

“She’s probably already made contact with her people,” Jacob added. “We need to track her communications, trace any calls or messages.”

Caleb nodded, his mind already working on a plan. “I’ll get our tech team on it. We need to move fast.”

As the team sprang into action, Lily felt a familiar surge of determination. This wasn’t over, not by a long shot. But they had come too far to let Ariana win now.

“We need to make sure she has nowhere to run,” she said, her voice steady. “No safe place, no allies. We cut off every escape route, every resource. We leave her with nothing.”

“And then we take her down,” Alexander finished, his eyes locking with hers.

Lily nodded. They were in this together, and they wouldn’t stop until Ariana was truly defeated. No more close calls, no more near misses. This time, they would end it for good.

Meanwhile, Ariana was on the move. She had managed to slip out of custody with the help of a few well-placed bribes and loyal followers. She was bruised and battered, but her spirit was unbroken. If anything, she was more determined than ever to make them all pay.

She moved through the city, staying in the shadows, changing cars and clothes to avoid detection. She knew she had to be careful, but she also knew she couldn’t just disappear. Not yet.

No, she had unfinished business. And she wasn’t about to let Lily and Alexander get away with what they’d done. They thought they had won, that they had cornered her. But they were wrong. She was just getting started.

Ariana finally reached her temporary hideout, a rundown apartment building on the outskirts of town. She slipped inside, her mind already working on her next move. She had lost this battle, but the war was far from over.

As she sat down and pulled out her phone, she began making calls, rallying her remaining allies. She would rebuild her network, regroup her forces. And then she would strike back, harder and more viciously than ever.

Lily and Alexander had made a grave mistake by underestimating her. They thought they had broken her, but all they had done was light a fire inside her. And now, she was going to burn them all.

Ariana smiled to herself as she made her plans. They were going to regret the day they ever crossed her. She would make sure of that.

And this time, there would be no mercy.

Back at the safehouse, Lily and the team were working around the clock, following every lead, every piece of information they could find. They were exhausted, but no one was willing to rest until Ariana was back in custody.

“Any news?” Lily asked as she entered the control room, where Caleb, Michael, and Jacob were poring over a map of the city.

“Not yet,” Caleb said, rubbing his eyes. “We’re tracking all known associates, but she’s good at covering her tracks.”

“She’s got to be somewhere,” Alexander said, leaning over the map. “She can’t just disappear.”

“She won’t,” Lily said, her voice firm. “She’s too angry to just run. She’ll want revenge. She’ll come for us.”

“Then we’ll be ready,” Caleb said, his eyes hard. “We’ll find her before she finds us.”

Lily nodded, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that time was running out. Ariana was out there, plotting her next move, and they had to find her before it was too late.

But no matter what, they wouldn’t give up. Not until Ariana was stopped for good.

Lily took a deep breath, steeling herself for what lay ahead. The fight wasn’t over, but they were ready. And this time, they wouldn’t let her slip away.
