Chapter 62

Sandra had spent a year and six months in a coma and underwent therapy to make a full recovery. Now, after an additional year and a few months, her life had returned to normal. She was no longer the reckless girl who loved to overspend and was irresponsible. The accident and long coma had completely transformed her, and she now held a position in the family company and had been entrusted with her inheritance by Alexander, who recognized how much she had changed.

Sandra walked into the house and was greeted by Camila.

"Welcome, Miss Sandra," Camila said with a respectful bow.

"Thank you, Camila. Do we have guests?" she asked, noticing the noise coming from the dining area.

"Yes, your sister-in-law and niece are visiting."

"Is my sister-in-law back?"

Camila nodded.

Sandra smiled and headed to the dining area. She found three people at the table, enjoying a late lunch. Little Viola was busy devouring chicken.

Sandra smiled at her niece's cuteness, knowing how much she loved chicken.

"Look who’s back," Sandra said, hugging Lilly from behind. "I missed you, sister-in-law."

Lilly smiled warmly. "I missed you too. Come, sit," she said, patting the seat next to her.

Sandra greeted her grandmother, then went over to kiss Viola on the cheek. "Hey, cutie, how was school?"

Viola shook her head, indicating her mouth was full of chicken, a sign she couldn’t talk. Her mother had taught her not to speak while eating, and she was trying to be obedient.

Sandra laughed and kissed her forehead before sitting next to Lilly.

"How was your trip, sister-in-law?"

"It went well. By the way, how many times have I told you to call me Lilly?" Lilly felt slightly offended that Sandra always referred to her as sister-in-law despite their close relationship.

Sandra shook her head. "I can’t call you by your name. Alexander insists on the utmost respect for you, and not calling you by your name is part of that."

Lilly laughed. "He won't mind; I'll talk to him."

"He’s made it clear that if I call you by your name, he’ll tell Viola to stop calling me aunty," Sandra said, making Lilly sigh. Alexander could be quite petty sometimes. "I’ll talk to him about that."

"Okay, if you say so."

Grandma Helen, who had been listening, smiled. "Have you had lunch?" she asked, knowing Sandra often skipped meals.

"I had a snack, Grandma."

"A snack is not a proper meal."

"I’ll just eat dinner later."

"No, have something to eat now," Grandma Helen insisted, starting to fill a plate for her.

"No, Grandma, if I eat now, I’ll have to skip dinner since it’s already 5 p.m."

"Fine, but I know you plan to skip dinner even if you don't eat now. So, eat up," Grandma Helen instructed.

Sandra sighed and nodded. "Okay, Grandma."

Lilly smiled, then glanced at her daughter, whose face was oily from the chicken. Viola had pushed away all the vegetables on her plate and focused solely on the chicken, which Lilly had deboned to make it easier for her to eat.

Seeing this, Lilly sighed tiredly. No wonder her father had reduced the number of chickens Viola ate to encourage her to eat more vegetables. Now, she regretted buying the chicken.

"Sweetheart," Lilly called.

Viola looked up and smiled at her mother.

"You’re not eating the vegetables," Lilly pointed out.

Viola glanced at her plate and realized she had indeed ignored the vegetables. She blinked and looked up at her mother.

"Eat the vegetables, or no more chicken for a whole month."

Viola’s eyes filled with tears. "Noooo."

"I’m serious, Viola."

She pouted and looked sadly at the chicken in her hand before putting it down and starting to eat the vegetables.

Grandma Helen patted her head and smiled at her obedience. "Good girl," she praised her great-granddaughter.

"When is your grandfather’s birthday again?"

"Next Saturday, Grandma."

"And you haven’t started preparations?"

"Preparations have already started. Grandfather has people handling it. It’s his 80th birthday, and he wants it to be grand. He says I’m too busy with the company to handle the preparations myself. I insisted, but he refused."

"But you’re still going to get him a gift, right?"

"I already did. I got something for him when I traveled. He’s going to love it."

"Good, good," Grandma Helen said.

After spending another couple of hours with Grandma Helen and Sandra, Lilly and Viola headed home before it got too late.

When they arrived, Alexander received a text from his men confirming their safe arrival. He put down his phone and dialed a number. The person on the other end answered on the first ring.

"Do whatever it takes to ensure she stays in prison," Alexander said before hanging up after getting a response.

"Really? Again?" Richard sighed.

Alexander shot him a cold look.

"Don’t you think she’s suffered enough? She’s already paid for her crimes."

"Richard is right. It’s enough. Stop extending her sentence. The court sentenced her to 15 years, and she’s served that. She should have been released three years ago, but you extended it by three years, and now you want to add more?" Ethan said.

Alexander ignored them, continuing with his paperwork.

"Are you seriously working now? We’re supposed to be having drinks and catching up," Ethan said, but Alexander paid no attention.

"She’s your mother," Richard said, which was enough to make Alexander leave what he was doing and charge towards Richard.

In a flash, Alexander grabbed Richard by the collar and punched him, sending him to the ground. Ethan and Richard were taken aback by the speed and force of the attack.

Richard touched his lip, which was bleeding. The look on Alexander’s face was so dark that Richard, usually unafraid, felt a pang of fear. He had made the mistake of referring to her as Alexander's mother, knowing fully well how much he despised that.

"Say it again, and see what happens," Alexander warned, staring into his eyes.

Richard got up and rolled up his sleeve. "We might as well settle this. Whether you like it or not, you need to hear the truth."

Sensing what was about to happen and who would likely get hurt, Ethan stepped in front of Alexander, whose fist was already clenched.

"Please, Alexander, let it go," Ethan pleaded. They had come to hang out, not fight.

"Not until he knows not to repeat himself," Alexander's cold voice rang out.
