Her Broken Mate 35

*Three months later*

"Alpha, what do we do with these recalcitrant rogues? It's like they're trying to trick us into attacking them," Ryan said as he entered Seth's office.

Seth put down his paperwork and glasses and contemplated his beta for a few moments. Sighing, he rubbed his temples and closed his eyes. These rogues, or rather Martha's army, had been provoking them into attacks for the past few months. But Seth was testing the waters.

Seth has been waiting for Sarah to come out of her coma, but they could only hold her off for so long. Sooner or later they'll have to attack and destroy Martha once and for all. On the other hand, the warriors won't have enough confidence knowing that Luna of the pack may or may not wake up.

They needed the support of Sarah, since
Luna's were basically the mother of the pack. The warriors wouldn't be able to do anything without their alpha and Luna by their side.

While pondering his decision, Seth finally made up his mind. "Ryan, hold them off as long as possible. We need to buy time," he instructed, and his words sounded gentle.

It had been quite a while since Seth had seen Alfred. But therapy with him had done Seth a lot of good. In time, Seth was able to speak normally again. He could touch people more easily again and let them touch him within certain limits.

Since the group therapy, he's never seen Stella again.

Ryan tilted his head and turned to leave Seth's office before saying, "Go downstairs to pack dinner. You've been cooped up in this office too long, an Alpha has to eat with his pack. With or without our Luna, we need to show the others that the pack is still strong."

Seth nodded at his suggestion, got up from his seat and followed him outside. As he trotted down the stairs with Ryan, he began to smell an excitement. No, several arousals. When they both got downstairs, almost all of the unmated females were staring hungrily at them. Some lay panting heavily on the floor while the unmated males stared longingly at them.

Puzzled, he tilted his head toward Ryan, "What's going on?"

Ryan seemed as confused as he was, surprised by the situation.

Ryan clears his throat, sounding awkward,
"With all due respect Alpha, I forgot about the heat for the females today. If I knew that, I wouldn't have called you to dinner," he continued, "All the females are in heat because it's the half of the year, you can't know that because you've never been with a female besides Luna Sarah. But they look at us that way because we produce a lot of testosterone, because our partners might be in heat. And because we rank high, they know we're going to produce strong pups."

A pang of embarrassment flooded through Seth.

'If all these unmated females are in heat, that means they are horny for a dick,' added his wolf, Jupiter.

'That's not what I meant! Use a cleaner word,' he shot back.

'Whatever you say, human. You need to check on Mate to see if she's in heat,' he growled before cutting the connection.

The thought that his mate might be in heat and not by his side worried him. Before running to the hospital, he ordered all pack members in a low voice, "Dinner is off! Those who're unmated or in heat, save yourselves for your mate. When you meet your mate, you'll deeply regret not saving yourselves for him!"

The pack members froze at his command, still shocked that he was speaking. It's been six months since he stopped being mute, how have they not gotten used to it yet?

Finally, their wolves obeyed his wish when they restrained their humans. They took control of themselves and returned to their rooms to lock themselves and be safe for a week.

The unmated males also went back to their rooms and kept away from the wolves in heat.

One female, however, stayed behind. She stared hungrily at Seth, not caring that he'd a mate. She strutted toward him, her eyes a mixture of black and green.

This female was named Olivia, if he remembered.

She seemed to be having an uphill battle with her wolf, for her wolf wanted to obey his command, while her human didn't.

Olivia ran a finger along Seth's chest and purred. She looked deep into his eyes and grinned slightly. A small movement in the corner of his eye made her jump when she saw Ryan trying to stop her.

Seth held a hand in the air and told Ryan he'd take care of it. Ryan obeyed, but stayed in the lunge position as a precaution.

When he returned his gaze to the horny woman, she gasped, "Alpha, it hurts. Please satisfy me. Take me any way you want. It's too much. We'll make strong puppies, I promise."

Seth growled, his eyes turning pitch black.
Not with arousal, but with anger, especially with another woman touching him. Only Sarah could touch him like that, no one else.

Flaring up, he roughly grabbed the woman's finger before she could descend to his manhood. She stared at Seth in shock as he tightened his grip on her hand.

With a hiss, he roared, "Don't touch me without permission. I ordered you to go to your room and wait for your heat to pass. I understand you're in pain, but you'd regret this afterwards. Your Luna wouldn't be happy with you if you continue. Go. Now."

She relented, finally showing her neck submissively before skipping up the stairs and into her room.

Seth sighed and thanked the moon goddess that Olivia finally listened to him. Ryan grinned at him before heading back to his room where he assumed his mate, Emily, was waiting for him.

Suddenly, a pain spread throughout Seth's body. His head felt like it was being crushed, and his insides twisted as something inside him broke. He tried to reach out to Sarah, but it was a dead end, as if the bond had never existed.

Virus howled in pain, 'Mate. Go to the hospital.'

He obeyed and ran to the pack's hospital.

Before he could reach her room, the surgeon he'd seen yesterday stopped him.
With stuttering words, he grabbed him by the shoulders, "Alpha, don't go in there. She's...!"

Seth didn't care, he just shrugged. He reached for the door handle and yanked it open with a bang. What he saw would scar him forever, the remains of his world crumbling beneath his feet.

The heartbeat monitor connected to Sarah no longer had a pulse. The doctors hurriedly tried to revive her with their machines, but to no avail.

'My mate is dead, and I never got to tell her how much I loved her.'
