Her Broken Mate 46

"Seth... what'll we do? I don't even know if I want to go to war over this. She's out for revenge because she lost her puppy. Jupiter screwed up." said Sarah, completely stressed.

Her mate was silent, his face showing that he was lost in his own thoughts.

"Babe, are you listening to me?" she asked, frowning and waving her hand in front of his handsome face.

He blinked and realized she was using a new nickname for him. She could see a slight blush on his cheeks before he cleared his throat. "Ah ... Sorry. I was just ... my father? Why would he do something like that? I can't explain it."

She took pity on him, put her hand on his shoulder and squeezed it tightly. "Honestly, I don't know why. We've been listening to the story. I've a hard time believing it, too. Since he seemed so supportive of us, and he seems to think very highly of you, too," she murmured.

A sigh left her mate, "Well, that's how it always starts. It always seems to be that way. But there's more to it that meets the eye," he paused. "I want to talk to him."

She raised an eyebrow and crossed her arms. "Are you sure you want to talk to him? He seemed angry after Martha left."

"I don't care how he feels right now. If what she said is true, then he's not my father anymore. He's just as bad as my mother." Seth spat out, his eyes blackening before he inhaled.

He soothed his wolf.

Surprised, he could only nod. Lately, Seth had been coming out of his shell and speaking up more. However, he also had his moments when he closed himself off and was afraid of certain things.

Certain things or topics still triggered in him as he was still in the healing phase.

After seeing her nod, Seth turned toward the door and strode toward his father's bedroom. She quickly followed him and made sure everything went smoothly.

At least, that's what she hoped.

A loud knock echoed through the hallway and she realized it was from her boyfriend. Seth was knocking hard on his father's door, and she could tell from his body language that he wasn't in the mood to play around.

'I like this new side of him...' Thunder said and grinned.

'Shut up, this is neither the time nor the place.' Sarah replied and cut the connection.

Barely a moment later Seth opened the door. Jupiter made a slightly annoyed expression before smiling. "Seth. My boy. Do you need something?"

Seth pressed his hand on the door and forced it open. He stepped inside while Sarah followed after him. She closed the door quickly while Jupiter took a few steps back, confused at the sudden intrusion.

"What's going on here? You both seem upset?" asked Jupiter, tilting his head to the side in wonder. Then he started laughing, "Oh, wait, don't tell me. Seth, you tried to ask Sarah for sex and she turned you down? I told you, you've to do foreplay..."

"We saw your meeting with Martha."

Seth said bluntly, crossing his arms as he confronted his father.

He'd cut him off to let him know he wasn't here to fool around.

Jupiter quickly lost his smile, but also quickly returned it. "What meeting? You guys are being silly. Is this a joke because I was in a hurry somewhere? I'd a date with that widowed pack female," he said, laughing.

It was almost too convincing, but they didn't know it. It was all an act.

Everything.

"Cut the crap, Jupiter. You can't lie. Seth and I have been through it all. From beginning to end," she said, stepping in.

He fell silent before his expression changed to a stare. "All right. You got me."

"But why? Why would you do such a thing?" asked Seth, his eyes turning black.

Jupiter shook his head and scratched the back of his head. "Oh, dear. I didn't expect it to come to this. Look, it was all in the past. The past doesn't matter to anyone. It shouldn't matter anymore, and you shouldn't see me any differently."

"And yet you talked to her like it was nothing. You're not sorry for anything. You killed an innocent puppy."

"I didn't want the puppy," he said with an expressionless face.

Sarah didn't understand how anyone could be so heartless.

"So Martha had no say in the matter?" she countered.

"She would have said no if she had. And if Stella had found out, she would have rejected me. If it wasn't for me, Seth wouldn't be here. You should be grateful, because you found your mate. That's, my son."

She bit the inside of her cheek in frustration. "Of course I'm grateful. Seth is everything to me, but that doesn't excuse what you did."

"Then mind your own business, Sarah. You're overstepping your bounds right now." said Jupiter, frowning.

"Damn those boundaries! Does Stella even know that? Does the pack know what you did?" she asked, shaking her head.

"Fuck no. If they'd known what I did, they'd have sided with that crazy bitch. If you've heard it all, you can see that Martha was trying to tell her sob story. Many women tend to play the victim when they put themselves in a situation like this.
It doesn't matter if it's toxic or not. You're too much of a wimp to leave." said Jupiter, continuing to shrug his shoulders. "So it's not my fault. So what if it's. She'd a sob story about being bullied. She'd toxic friends before and was afraid to leave them. How is that my problem? She said she was afraid to leave. But she didn't have anything holding her down. I don't know what she was thinking. I'm serious. It's never going to get better in the relationship. She should have known what she was worth."

"Like you know your worth? It's at the bottom of the fucking food chain. You son of a bitch." hissed Sarah, losing all respect for this man. She continued, feeling bad for Martha. "Love makes you blind. If anything, it's the toxic person's fault. Have you forgotten that you're toxic too? She says you bombarded her with love and manipulated her. You're just as bad as the rest of them," she said, staring at the man she once knew.

"Pfff, are you serious?" asked Jupiter mockingly. "I'm done with this theatre. I'm tired of trying to be nice..." he paused and massaged his temples. "She was just being naive. That's what she gets for believing me so easily. In the end, I got what I wanted. And you know what? I don't care what you or Seth have to say. Just get out of my room. I need space and I honestly can't believe you two would side with a woman who killed three members of our pack. Have you lost your minds?"

Jupiter made a point.

Martha had killed three of her pack members and caused many families to grieve. Damn, Seth and Sarah felt the bonds within them breaking. It hurt... And it didn't excuse what she'd done.

Obviously, it didn't.

She was just giving vent to her anger and grief unjustly.

Still... now everything made sense.

"Enough, Jupiter. We've heard enough of your bullshit for today. You're coming with us for further interrogation." said Sarah, taking a step towards the old man.

Jupiter laughed and took a step away from her. "You're really worried about that stupid puppy? He wasn't even born yet. It was a bunch of cells. If he'd been born, he'd've been considered a bastard. Why should a puppy be born in a world where no one loves it? Nobody wanted it. I wanted to give him a chance not to suffer. Martha wasn't even my mate. The puppy would have been tortured to death because it was born to someone who wasn't my mate."

"That's not the point, Jupiter. You didn't ask Martha for her consent. She's suffering in silence and needs help. It's your fault, not hers," she said, flashing her fangs.

"See, the fact that you talk like a bitch is probably one of the reasons both your parents died. Good riddance, they didn't need a loudmouthed daughter like you." said Jupiter, and the tone in his voice showed that he meant it.

Anger coursed through her veins.

How dare he say that directly to her face, as if it were all her fault?

Before she could say anything, a shadow passed her by. And just like that, a huge thud and a groan echoed through the room.

Jupiter was on the floor, and Seth was standing over him. He'd his hand wrapped around his neck and was choking him.

"You may be my father, but that doesn't mean you can't respect my Luna," Seth said, gritting his teeth before adding, "You'll not disrespect my mate, certainly not in my presence. Are we clear?"

"Crystal." said Jupiter, gasping. His hands tried to pry Seth's hands away from him, but to no avail.

His strength wasn't up to the Alpha's.

With these words, Seth let go of the old man.

He quickly stood up and shakily straightened himself. "I saved your life, Seth. And because of you, I fell into a coma. Don't you remember how much I did for you? Is this really how you want to repay me?" he coughed.

Seth stopped, wide-eyed. "My fault? You think it's my fault?" he muttered, staring at his father in shock. His skin turned pale, and he clenched his fists.

Jupiter smirked, knowing this was getting under Seth's skin.

"Why do you think I tried to play a good father to you, Seth? Because then ... I could secure my position as the Alpha's father. People would still respect me. I get so many benefits from you treating me well. I never really loved you because I only saw you as a tool for my own needs."

Before anything else could happen, Sarah slammed the old man against the wall with all her might, knocking him unconscious.

'Rest in peace, bitch.' growled Thunder, flashing her canines.

Slowly she turned to Seth and saw her mate still standing there in disbelief.

To comfort him, she quickly reached over to touch him.

Only to have her hand slapped away.

"Seth?" she cried, her feelings hurt.

"Please... don't look at me. You're exactly the same... aren't you? I'm a monster," he said and a tear rolled down his cheek.

How could he let one sentence get to him? Didn't she prove all along that she was on his side?

Pain filled her as her emotions soared.

"You're not..."

A broken sob left her mate as he turned away from her. His heart clenched in pain.

"Just... just leave me alone," he said, interrupting her.

And just like that, Seth walked away.

And took her heart with him, too.
