Her Alpha Mate 18

"Freya! Freya!"

Freya moaned and snuggled closer to her pillow, "Five more minutes, Papa."

"I'm not your father, Freya. Wake up! We've a date with a witch."

Her eyes snapped open and she blinked a few times as her eyes adjusted to the darkness. Then she felt something move beneath her, and it took her a few seconds to realize she was practically on Zack.

She also became aware of his hands resting on her butt.

"Can you move your hands?" she whispered, looking at the others in the group. They were all slowly waking up.

"That depends. Will you move?"

She opened her mouth to answer when something hard bumped against her thigh.
Realization hit her, and Zack must've noticed her panicked look, because he just grinned, as if this was normal for him.

"Why is your dick saying hello to me? I - I - we didn't do anything."

He raised an eyebrow, "Does that make you uncomfortable, Freya?"

She scrambled to get off him, which pretty much answered his question. He snorted, sat up, and tore the bearskin blanket off his body.

The tent in his jeans was huge, but he didn't seem to care. He was busy sniffing the air.

"There's a herd of deer nearby," he muttered, taking off his shirt, "When the rest of the group is awake, tell them I went out to hunt the meat. I'm not sure we'll have the chance to hunt today. Do you want a deer or something?"

She blinked, "Uh, no. I'll eat the leftover cooked meat from last night, but thanks anyway."

He nodded and disappeared into the woods with his pants on. She decided to take advantage of the time and rinse her mouth with a mouthwash, since she didn't have her toothbrush with her. She quickly grabbed the small bottle of Listerine and her water bottle and followed a few of the pack warriors to the creek.

When she returned, the pack warriors had finished cleaning up and were staring at each other in confusion.

"Is something wrong, boys?" she asked, stuffing her things into her backpack.

"Luna, where's Alpha Zack?" asked Hunter.

"Oh, he went to beat up his meat."

She was busy stowing her backpack, so she didn't even notice what she'd muttered in reply. When no one answered, she looked up to see the others staring at her, startled.

She frowned slightly. Why were they staring at me like that? Was it bad to hunt in the morning or something? she thought.

"You can go to him," she said slowly.

Their horrified faces turned into ones of shock.

"I don't think we're comfortable with that, Luna."

Her eyes narrowed, "You're uncomfortable with hunting? Weren't y'all just on the hunt last night?"

"He is hunting?" asked Hunter, looking very relieved.

She gave him a confused look. "Yeah?"

He nodded and ran off in the same direction as Zack, with the rest of the pack warriors behind him. She snorted and shook her head. 'Zack has some strange pack members.'

While she was folding her blanket, Chance and Reece came out of the woods, talking in hushed voices and pointing at the map. When they noticed her, Chance smiled and Reece nodded at her.

"Good morning, Freya. Where's everyone?"

"Morning Chance, they went hunting." They nodded in understanding and she chuckled softly, "Your pack members need to get out more often."

"What makes you think that?" asked Reece curiously.

"I told them that Zack went out to beat up his meat and they looked at me funny."

Suddenly Chance burst out laughing and Reece just stared at her strangely, "You told our pack warriors that Zack was beating up his meat."

Why is he staring at me like that? What is wrong with everyone, she thought.

She nodded slowly and Reece rubbed his hand over his face, "Maybe you should get out more. You basically told them Zack was jerking off."

Her eyes widened and she gasped, "How did... what? I didn't mean it like that. I thought they'd understand what I meant. Who calls a dick meat anyway?"

"A lot of people," Reece said slowly.

She screwed up her face and felt herself blush with embarrassment.

Great, his pack members must think I'm an idiot or something, she thought.

"Freya, you're so cute." Chance choked on his laughter.

Reece shook his head, "Innocent is more like it."

She covered her red face, trying not to kick a tree or anything. 'How could I've been so naive?

"What's so funny, Chance?"

'Oh moon goddess, please save me from this humiliation.'

Chance started laughing even harder when he saw Zack, and Reece's lips twitched as well. Zack gave Chance a deadly look, which calmed him down a bit.

"Now somebody tell me what's so funny," Zack demanded, looking between his Beta and Gamma.

Reece shook his head, "You don't want to know."

Zack looked at her and raised an eyebrow, "From the look on your face, I'm guessing you did something stupid. What did you do?"

"Nothing!" she said quickly, clearing her throat, "Nothing at all. Now let's eat. I'm starving."

Zack squinted his eyes, nodded slowly, and laid the bloody flesh on the floor.

She had a feeling that he would interrogate her later.

Three hours later, after eating and cleaning up their mess, they were getting closer to the witch's house. According to Chance, they would be able to see her cabin in a few miles.

Freya walked next to Zack, who was still holding her hand after they had to climb over some rocks earlier. She had tried to pull away, but he had only gripped her hand tighter and avoided her gaze.

How strange.

"Here we are," Zack murmured. She looked up and caught sight of a small cottage with flowers planted in front of it. It reminded her of her grandmother's house.

"Is she old?" she asked quietly, so no one would notice.

Zack shook his head, "She's... kind of young? I'd say late thirties."

Freya pursed her lips and nodded, "Interesting."

Zack stopped and turned to the pack warriors, "You will all wait here. Beta Reece and Gamma Chance will be the only ones to accompany us into the house. If there is an emergency, notify one of us immediately."

A chorus of "Yes, Alpha" rang out, and Zack gently pulled her by the hand toward the stairs.

"You can let go of my hand now, Zack. We are here," she said, trying to shake her hand out of his grip.

He shook his head, "Trust me, you do not want to. This woman is insane. You'll see."

She stopped fidgeting and looked at him curiously, "What?"

He gestured for her to stop talking and knocked loudly on the door. Soft footsteps sounded, and a petite woman who looked about forty opened the door. She saw Zack's face and smiled broadly, "Well, isn't that Alpha Zack? What brings you here?"

Zack froze, "We have a few questions, Mag."

Her face turned serious, "I see. Well, I hope I have the answers for you."

Margaret let them enter and gently closed the door behind them. When she turned back around, her eyes immediately fell on Freya and a wide smile formed on her face. Freya was not sure whether to feel welcome or creeped out.

Margaret looked back and forth between Zack and Freya a few times before closing her eyes as if she had had some sort of vision. When she opened them again, her gaze landed on Freya's stomach.

"You two are going to have very strong puppies. Really really strong puppies."

Freya froze and looked at Zack out of the corner of her eye. He had a somewhat surprised look on his face at her random statement, but the surprise disappeared a second later.

"Mag, we did not come back here to talk about our puppies. We came here to ask about the griffins."

She raised an eyebrow and gestured to the couch, "Well, sit down."

The four sat down carefully and she rummaged in one of the boxes in the corner, "I can smell the golden heart in one of you. Which one of you has it?"

"That would be me," Freya said cautiously. Zack's grip on her hand tightened, and she saw his jaw ticking out of the corner of her eye.

Margaret slowly looked up from the box and eyed it, "Interesting. Very interesting."

Turning back around, Freya exchanged a glance with the three of them. They were all thinking the same thing.

Something was fishy here.
