Her Broken Mate 11

*a few weeks later*

"Shh... it's okay." whispered Sarah, playing with his hair.

Seth groaned in his sleep, his heavy breathing echoing through the room. The pent-up sweat beaded off his body and the sheets soaked up any moisture. Every now and then he would tear his eyes open, showing her the signs of a nightmare and fever.

She had been told that he had nightmares every night, but that had subsided massively since he found her to be his mate.

It hurt her to see her mate like this.

She had to undress him several times because he was sweating so much, and of course her wolf horniness continued to howl in her head. She sent her dirty pictures of what she wanted to do with him.

'You are mean, calm down,' Sarah said darkly, crossing her arms in her mind.

'Shut up, human. My buddy is hot, any woman would be horny for him,' she shot back at Sarah.

'Go bang a fucking pillow.'

'You'll take your words back when you go into heat,' Thunder said in a smug tone.

Sarah dropped the towel she was using to wipe Seth's sweat.

'What are you going to say now?'

Thunder did not answer, she just smiled triumphantly.

'Bitch.'

'I am a she-wolf, so I am already a slut. I am also you, so we are both BITCHES. Go ahead!'

Sarah gave her a nasty look, but she just shrugged before cutting the connection.

Welcome to my daily life with Sarah's wolf, isn't she blessed?

A pained groan snapped her out of her thoughts. Seth's eyes were open now, except they were in a daze.

He tried to sit up, but failed miserably. She hastily rose from her seat and sat him down again.

"Stop moving around so much. I do not want your fever to come back," she said gloomily.

Seth gave her only a small smile. He's lucky he's cute. If he was not, she would have beaten him up for more trouble.

Then she remembered the conversation with Ryan and knew she had to confront him.

That was going to be difficult, because she was just opening up old wounds, wasn't she?

She sighed, "Seth, we need to talk about your mother and father." Seth's smile turned into a small frown and he immediately shook his head. "Why not?" she asked, pressing the issue.

He looked left and right before making a motion to write. Sarah grabbed a notepad and pen that was on the nightstand and handed it to him. Seth took it gratefully and quickly scribbled on it.

He quickly turned the notepad over, 'I am not ready yet.'

She became restless and got up from her seat.

"You can not keep hiding, Seth! I know she hurt you, but unless you want to stay mute forever, I suggest you stop using that excuse and face your fears! You will not get better if you do not try!"

She was shaking all over, but stopped when she looked at Seth's face. It showed hopelessness and shame.

Her hands clenched into fists. She was disappointed in herself for yelling at someone who had been abused for years, who was mute and afraid of further pain.

But as a companion, she should be more understanding.

She did not go through what he went through, what kind of companion is she?

I should have been more patient. I can not believe I just freaked out like that. That was so stupid. - Sarah thought.

She swallowed and let out a sigh, "I just wanted to tell you that it was not your fault that your father was in a coma. It's those villains, Seth, you were only fourteen at the time. A wolf who has not turned yet, so please stop blaming yourself. Your mother and these pack members were wrong to do these things to you."

His lips twitched, then he nodded in understanding. He turned his back on her and went back to sleep. His soft snoring was all she heard before she quietly left the room.

She understood that someone turning his back on her while he slept meant he trusted her. But she wanted him to understand what she was getting at. She was annoyed by the situation, by everything. It's annoying when you can not control something and wish you could.

A wave of emotion flooded her, an urge to transform.

She ran down the stairs and straight out the door. She leapt into the air and transformed. Without caring about her tattered clothes.

She sprinted towards the forest, enjoying the smell of nature. Her paws thundered across the land, her wolf right behind her.

The wind blew through her soft fur, and she enjoyed every bit of it. Her ears twitched now and then to hear bird calls.

Her wolf's fur was green with little white spots. Her eyes were a soft green, while Sarah's eyes were actually brown. Strange, isn't it?

By the time she finished walking, she was exhausted. She lay down and closed her eyes.

It seemed almost impossible to break through Seth's walls, he would not let her in. The more days passed, the more useless she felt, but she was more determined than ever to fix him.

When companions meet, they immediately fall in love. The fact that her mate did not have this ability worried her.

She turned to Thunder because she wanted more answers. 'Thunder, why can't I make a mind connection with Seth?'

'Cause you have not drawn each other yet. Spiritual connections between partners are a sacred thing. The first requirement is that you are in the same pack, and you are. You can make a mind connection with anyone but your partner. Which is silly, frankly, but that's the way it is. The next step is the mark, the big D,' she said in a matter-of-fact tone.

'That explains a lot of things.'

And did she just say 'the big D'?

'Yes. Sooner or later we will get it,' Thunder reminded suggestively.

Sarah rolled her eyes and continued with her questions;

'One more thing. I was not going to say anything, but I felt like something was missing. Don't you think it's strange that a pack of rogues would attack the pack house for no reason? There must be a valid reason," Sarah asked, trying to piece together the puzzle.

Thunder nodded in agreement, 'Now that you mention it, you are right. Ryan's wolf said they were targeting Seth to get revenge on Jupiter. But why?'

Sarah has a feeling there's a deeper meaning behind the attack.

'That's what you want to find out, isn't it?' Thunder chortled in amusement.

'You know me well, my friend.'

'Well, sure I do. You get that from me, I am the smart one here,' Thunder said in a cheeky tone.

Sarah chuckled before cutting the connection.

The run had cleared her mind somewhat and her emotions were not as out of place as before.

She was about to turn to leave when she heard a rustling sound. It alerted her. There was no smell, but someone was undoubtedly there.

She let out a growl to warn them.

Rogues.
