Her Alpha Mate 37

Freya:

My father didn't look happy. I don't think he even noticed Zack standing right next to me. He was staring at me, and all I could do was stare at him like a deer in headlights.

I was screwed, and it was no one's fault but my own. My parents had promised me that I'd keep in touch with them and keep them updated on everything, but I hadn't really done that.

Plus, he'd said my middle name, which told me how much trouble I was in.

He motioned toward us, his eyes on me, "Young lady, you must've given me fifty gray hairs in the last week! Your mother almost fainted when she found out you were the Luna. You didn't even think to tell us! What did you..."

He finally noticed Zack, and his eyes widened as they traveled over Zack's arms wrapped around me.

Then his eyes traveled up to our necks, and they almost spilled out of their sockets at the sight of our fresh tracks.

"Now then," he panted, "you've a lot of explaining to do, Freya. Your mother, your brother, and Evelyn are waiting for you at Kennedy and Georgina's house."

A hesitant smile stretched across my face, "They're here too?"

"Yes, and if you think I'm scaring you, wait until you see Evelyn. She's absolutely furious."

I swallowed, "Okay, I'll be right there."

I turned to Zack and gave him an exasperated look. The man just chuckled and kissed me quickly on the lips, "I'll see you later."

How dare he leave me to the wolves?

My she-wolf covered her face with her tail. 'I'm not here. I've nothing to do with it.' Then Aurora blocked our communication.

I groaned softly and followed my father, who seemed quite surprised by Zack's show of affection. The last time he'd seen us, we'd avoided each other.

He said nothing as we walked, but I could feel his wolf getting angry and running back and forth in his head. He opened the front door for me, and the moment I stepped inside, five pairs of eyes locked on me-three of them staring.

Damn.

Three hours and one long lecture later, Evelyn and my mom decided it was finally time to help me get ready for the ceremony.
"Well, sweetie, do you've a dress yet?" my mom asked, rummaging through some of the bags they'd brought.

"Not quite. Zack's sister offered me a dress to borrow, but I haven't looked at it yet."

My mother said nothing, turning to me and holding out a large garment bag.

"I've been thinking. Would you like to wear the dress I wore to my Luna ceremony?"

My mouth dropped open as my eyes bounced back and forth between her and the garment bag, "Are you serious?"

"Of course I mean it, sweetie. You only have one Luna ceremony in your life." I stood up and took the garment bag from her hand, "You're very welcome, Mom. Thank you."

Her eyes clouded over as she studied my face, "I can't believe you're so big already.
I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. Your father had fainted after seeing all the blood..."

"Mom!"

She snapped out of her daze, "Right, too much information. Let's go upstairs. Evelyn, are you coming, dear?"

"I'll be right up, Mrs. Davis."

I followed them up the stairs, and no sooner had I entered the room than they pushed me into a chair and demanded that I close my eyes while they did everything. I resisted, but when Evelyn threatened to pluck out my eyeballs with tweezers, I decided it was in my best interest to comply with the hormonal pregnant woman's demands.

With the help of Pearl and Juilet, who'd rushed into the room when they heard what was going on, they set about giving me the most painful makeover I'd ever experienced in my life.

It got to the point where I asked Juilet if she actually used tweezers and not her griffin claws on my face.

"Well, I've to say, you're a real beauty," Evelyn said, clapping her hands together as if dusting them off.

I snorted, "I haven't exactly had the time to indulge myself, Evelyn."

"But you've had time to make your mark in the kitchen."

"That's different. It happened in the moment."

"Obviously. You didn't even have time to rush into a bedroom."

"Ladies," Pearl interrupted, "we can argue later about who got tagged in the worst place. It's almost time for the ceremony, and we still have to get you dressed. Open your eyes, Freya."

"No, wait! Let's get her dress on first." Juilet said and opened the garment bag.

The dress was much tighter than I'd imagined. Obviously, my mom was much thinner than I was when she became Luna.
"I can barely breathe," I gasped as the four of them struggled to get the dress to fit properly.

"Let me just fix the seams here ...And fix them here."

My mom loved to sew and knit in her spare time, so this was a breeze for her. In a few minutes, she'd loosened the waist so I could breathe better. After a few more adjustments, the four of them pulled back and looked at me.

Evelyn smiled and wiped tears from her eyes, "Look in the mirror, babe. You look like a queen."

I turned around excitedly and smiled at my reflection. For spending a little over an hour on it, the four of them had definitely worked their magic.

My hair was beautifully curled and pinned into a loose chignon with a few curls hanging out. My eyes were highlighted by a light layer of silver eyeshadow, eyeliner, and of course, mascara. Juilet had also contoured my face and applied a little blush and bronzer to my cheeks.

The dress was a beautiful piece of lace that fit my figure almost perfectly. It almost reminded me of a wedding dress, except it was much easier to move around in.

"I do not mean to interrupt your staring, but we are going to be late for the ceremony if we do not hurry," Pearl said, putting one of the pearl earrings in my ear that they had spent almost ten minutes with.

I turned to find them dressed and ready to go, "You guys look good."

"Nothing a little makeup and mascara could not do. It's not like we have anything to do at the ceremony. We are watching you and Zack. Zack practically having sex with his eyes," Evelyn said with a shrug.

"Evelyn!"

"What, it's true. In almost every ceremony I have been to, the Alpha and Luna practically have an orgy in front of everyone."

Thank the moon goddess my mother was already gone. She would have washed Evelyn's mouth if she had heard what came out of her mouth.

I rolled my eyes, "Let us go before you decide I should go in my underwear instead."

"That would be easier. I mean, you'll have to change in the end."

I sighed. "Why do I even bother?"

By the time we got to the ballroom, my feet hurt thanks to my heels, but the look on Zack's face when he saw me was totally worth the walk.

His mouth was open, and his eyes were widened to the point where they looked black instead of the usual grey.

Alpha Peter whistled and grinned a little when he noticed Zack's face. "I be the one to say you look stunning?"

I gave him an amused smile, "Thank you,
Alpha Peter."

"Stop with this alpha nonsense. You are going to be a Luna. That makes us equals."

That must have snapped Zack out of his daze, because he finally stepped forward and wrapped his arms around my waist.
He kissed me softly on the cheek and gave me the biggest smile I had ever seen on his face, "You look gorgeous, babe."

I kissed him on the corner of the mouth, "Thank you."

"Alright, enough of this squishy shit. The ceremony should have started ten minutes ago," Reece snarked and opened the door.

Juilet tapped him on the back of the head and he gave her a look, "What?"

She gave him a pointed look, to which he rolled his eyes and pulled her closer, "You look adorable, dear. Now come on. We need to take our seats."

After everyone went inside, Zack handed me his arm, "Are you ready?"

I smiled and took his arm, "I feel like I am getting married."

"You know what they say..."

"The Luna ceremony is half a wedding for an Alpha?"

"Mhmm."

He opened the door and we started walking down the aisle to the stage. I was surprised at how many decorations there were, but given the fact.

But considering Georgina had planned everything and several pack members were responsible for the decorations. Incredibly, it was not.

The aisle was lined with flowers and fairy lights, and surprisingly, the dome of the ballroom was open, allowing the moonlight to fall on the stage. The stage was also decorated with candles and fairy lights. Zack helped up the stairs, where one of the older wolves stood with a very old book in his hand. In front of him was a small table, on which there was also a knife and a bowl.

"Welcome, dear wolves of the Wind Winder pack. Today we celebrate a new covenant and pray that this covenant will help us reach greater heights in the future. Alpha, would you like to say something?"

Zack cleared his throat. "Today is a very important day for all of us. We will have a new leader who will stand by my side and make decisions in the best interest of the pack. She is my other half. The better one."

My heart warmed as he winked at me.
Then he turned to his group of advisors,
"As always, I need your approval. Are any of you opposed to my request that Freya Davis be my Luna?"

There was a threatening undertone in his voice as he challenged them to oppose him.

They shook their heads almost immediately and he nodded in agreement,
"Good."

He turned to the wolf on the stage and said,
"Mr. Kane, you may proceed."

Mr. Kane nodded and looked down at his book again: "To begin, the two leaders must cut their palms and divide their blood. The mixed blood will drop into this bowl for the sacrifice."

Zack and I exchanged a look.

"Is there any other way to do this?" I asked hesitantly.

He frowned, "What do you mean?"

"If my blood comes in contact with Zack's wound, it will heal immediately. There's not enough time for the blood to drip into the bowl."

"Oh."

He cleared his throat. "Well, I think what we can do is you two just put a few drops of blood in the bowl and mix it together."

Zack took the knife, cut his palm, and let his blood drip into the bowl for a few moments before handing it to me. I did the same and watched as Mr. Kane mixed the blood together. Then he took the bowl and placed it in front of an altar dedicated to the goddess of the moon.

He turned and handed each of us a candle, "You will now light the candles on the altar together. If you light the candle on the left side, it shows that you will work together to burn away any difficulties and struggles that the pack may face in the future. The candle on the right has a fragrance. When you light it, it means that your love for each other will last beyond life, because the fragrance will remain even when the candle is no longer burning."

He paused for a moment to let it sink in.
"The candle in the centre is for the moon
Moon Goddess. If she accepts the covenant, the candle will keep burning as soon as you light it. If not, it means she is not satisfied with the bond."

I swallowed nervously. There were times when the candle went out, and that was considered a bad omen. It meant that the Moon Goddess regretted her mating and wanted to restore it if possible. In all cases when this happened, the Alpha rejected his mate and chose a new Luna.

Zack took my hand and squeezed it. We stepped forward and slowly lit the candles on the left and right. When we got to the middle candle, everyone held their breath.

My hand shook as I tipped my candle into the large gold-coloured glass.

Zack squeezed my hand again and we watched as the candle flickered a little before growing stronger.

The pack erupted in cheers as the flame grew larger.

I let out a sigh of relief, and Zack immediately pulled me close for a passionate kiss.

I was the Luna of the Wind Winder Pack.
