Her Alpha Mate 62
Zack:
"What's going on here?" I asked suspiciously, watching Reece's hand loosen around Michael's throat. Chance growled and shoved Michael to the ground and crossed his arms behind his back.
Reece glared at Michael but turned to me and said, "Guess who tried to sabotage your relationship with Freya?"
"Michael, what the hell is he talking about?" snarled I, feeling my frustration rise again.
Michael didn't answer and decided to stomp on the ground with a grunt.
As I stared down at him, my head was buzzing with so many thoughts that drove my temper to heights I didn't even know were possible. I could feel myself shaking as realization dawned on me.
Flashback:
"Would you take this to Freya and tell her it needs to be ready in three days?"
"Is that enough time?"
"It should be enough. I believe in her."
End of flashback:
I'd never thought about it before, but Michael never really liked Freya. He ignored her, and when she said something to him, he didn't take her seriously or gave a half-hearted answer.
This asshole probably gave her the papers yesterday and acted like I wanted her to do them in one day. And of course, it worked out perfectly for him because I gave her hell, even though it wasn't even her fault - she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, which again worked in his favor.
"Shit, Zack. Zack! Zack, not here." Reece's voice didn't even register in my brain as I shook with rage.
My lungs burned as my breath escaped in short bursts and growls. My heart was beating at a speed that would put people in the hospital. My claws were already extended, digging into my palms to suck blood as the rage boiled inside me.
I wanted blood. My wolf wanted blood.
And we wanted Michael's blood.
Chance:
Michael. Was. Fucked. And he knew it too.
Fear was clearly written on his face as he watched Zack's reaction.
I didn't know why he was trying to hurt their relationship, but whatever the reason, it wasn't good enough.
There was never a good reason to hurt a couple like Zack and Freya.
She was the yin to his yang. She was the water that put out his fire. She was his gravity when he soared too high.
The Moon Goddess had hit it out of the park when she brought them together, for there was no she-wolf in the world who could ever match Zack and keep him at bay.
That wasn't even an opinion. It was a fact -
one that everyone knew except Michael.
He'd caused trouble, and now he was going to pay for it. And he was going to pay dearly.
Zack trembled like a volcano about to erupt, and when he did, no one was to stand in his way. That would be a death wish. His jaw was ticking like a time bomb, and I knew it was only a matter of seconds before he exploded.
I nodded to Reece, and we slowly moved away from Michael, preparing to pull Zack off of him after he threw a few punches.
The moment we moved out of the way, Zack let out the loudest roar I'd ever heard in my life.
It was a roar that shook the ground we were standing on and made the windows of the surrounding houses crack from the intensity. It was like a mini-earthquake. Members of the pack rushed out of their homes and rushed to the scene to see what was making their alpha so angry.
They arrived just in time to see Zack lunge at Michael.
"Oh shit," I muttered as I watched his fists fly.
Barely seconds had passed and Michael already had a bloody nose.
"We've to stop him. He can't do this in front of the pack," Reece said quietly, looking at Zack with concern.
We turned in a circle and grabbed Zack by the shoulders, trying to pull him back, but it was impossible. He wouldn't budge and didn't even seem to notice that we were trying to pull him back.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed my shoulder and I turned around, wondering who was trying to disturb us at this critical moment.
"What the..." I paused as I realized it was Freya.
She was staring at Zack's back and winced as he let out another growl and continued to punch Michael's face. I backed away and she quickly came forward and wrapped her arms around his back.
"Come on, Zack. Stop it," she snarled loudly over all his grunts and Michael's moans.
Zack slowed down as Freya's touch calmed him down a bit. He was still shaking and growling, but not as much as before.
"Zack, let him go. You're scaring everybody. You're scaring me," she said softly, letting her hands move to his shoulders.
Immediately he straightened up and almost lifted Freya off the ground with him. The thought of his mate being afraid of him didn't sit well with him, and the anger in his face faded as he turned and looked down at her.
Then he wrapped her in his arms and buried his face in her hair, while still trembling a little in his half-changed form.
I knew Freya was still upset about what had happened, but she didn't hesitate to comfort him, knowing it wasn't just for his sake, but for the sake of the pack that was still watching in fear.
She buried her hands in his hair and massaged his scalp before giving us a little nod.
Reece made a mind link to the pack members and instructed them to silently return to their usual routine so as not to set Zack off again. As the crowd dispersed, Queen ran toward us, staring at her nearly unconscious twin.
"Michael, you idiot," she said, crouching down beside him, "Why did you do that?"
He didn't answer, of course, and she turned to us, "Do you think you could carry him to the hospital?"
Reece and I walked over and carefully picked him up, being careful not to touch the cuts and swollen areas.

"He did this for me."
I froze in my seat as I realised Queen's words in my head.
"What do you mean?" asked Reece straightening up from his spot against the wall.
Queen sighed and held her brother's hand,
"I was in love with Zack, and he knew it."
"You're in love with Zack?" I asked incredulously.
She'd never shown any sign of being in love with him. She acted like he was an older brother, not a crush.
"Was," she corrected, "I gave it up a while ago.
"That doesn't explain why Michael would intentionally cause problems in their relationship," Reece stated, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.
"I didn't find out about Freya until I got here. Michael knew about it, but he kept it from me because he knew it would break my heart, and it did. I cried about it for days because I was hoping to tell Zack. To tell Zack that I loved him and that he'd return my feelings. Michael probably wanted to hurt them so they'd feel the pain I felt when I saw them celebrating the milestones of their relationship."
Queen looked uncomfortable as she explained her thoughts on the situation.
Still, I wasn't satisfied with her answer.
"Are you sure you'd nothing to do with this? You didn't ask him to do this?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
She shook her head, "I'd never try to destroy a relationship, and Michael knows that. I don't know the whole reason he did it, but I know he did it for me."
