Her Alpha Mate 20

The next morning, Zack woke them again at three o'clock and had them set out for what Freya had thought was their pack.

Apparently they were making a detour to the Wind Winder pack so Zack could check on his pack members and boundaries.

"So what's your pack like?" asked Freya to Chance as he stared seriously at a map.

What Freya liked most about Chance was that he took his job as Gamma very seriously. One of the pack warriors told her that he'd two sides and that if he ever showed his dark side, he could beat up the strongest warrior they'd besides Reece and Zack.

"First of all, it's huge. We've about five hundred people in our pack, from refugees to transfers. The pack is divided into five sections, and each section has a Delta watching over them so they don't have to run to Zack every time there's any trouble. Zack only gets involved if the problem gets too big or if the Delta asks him to."

"So does Zack hand out punishments often?"

"Zack doesn't hand out the punishments, Reece does, that's one of his duties as Beta. But our pack members are pretty good, they don't like trouble and they certainly don't like getting into trouble."

"That's good."

Freya was about to ask him more questions when Zack stopped in front of them. She almost slammed into him, but managed to stop right in front of his back.
He turned and glared at Chance, "You should look at the damn map and make sure we're going in the right direction."

Chance blinked and raised an eyebrow in amusement, "Well, you giant, what's wrong with you?"

Zack gave him a scowl and grabbed Freya's hand to tug her forward. His gaze turned to her and his eyes softened, "If you've any questions about my pack, ask me."

She furrowed her eyebrows, "Okay?"

Suddenly he sped up and dragged her to the front of the group so she could be seen but not heard. It was as if he wanted to be alone with her.

"Do you've any more questions? Or do you want to continue our game from last night?"

Freya paused. He'd indeed confirmed last night, which surprised her, since he'd gotten up as if nothing had happened.

"Sure, we can continue our game," she said, fiddling with her backpack strap. The corners of his mouth twitched a little before he asked her, "How did you find out you could heal?"

"When I was five years old, I was training with Evelyn and accidentally slashed her arm with my claw. My hand already had a cut, and when I touched her arm to examine the wound, my blood began to glow, and the wound healed. We were so scared that we ran to my father and told him what happened."

He chuckled, "I can't imagine your father's reaction. His little girl with pigtails suddenly has one of the greatest gifts anyone could ask for."

Freya's eyes bored into the side of his head, studying the stubble on his face, "How did you know I used to wear braids?"

"Your mother really likes to hang pictures on the wall."

She inwardly screwed up her face. Of course, her mother had several pictures of her and Oliver all over the walls.

"There's nothing to be ashamed of.
My mother won't miss the chance to show you my baby pictures and tell you about every stupid thing I did as a child."

She smiled, "Were you a troublemaker?"

"Yes."

Freya couldn't imagine that this brooding guy next to her was a mischievous little kid. He must've undergone a tremendous transformation.

"Just out of curiosity," he began, catching her attention again, "how many boys have you kissed?"

"One, why do you ask?"

"No reason, next question."

She decided to leave him alone and thought of a new question to ask him, "Do you've any brothers or sisters?"

"Yes, I do. I've a younger brother and a sister."

"Really? How old are they?"

"Twenty-three and twenty-one."

She smiled at the warmth in his voice, "Are you close?"

"Very."

A few hours later, they were getting closer and closer to Zack's pack. Freya could already see houses and a beautiful lake as they got closer.

"What do you think?" asked Zack quietly.

"It's beautiful," Freya whispered, taking in every detail of the pack as they got closer.

Soon she could see warriors training diligently alongside, and several houses in small groups, almost like neighborhoods. They reached the path that led into the small neighborhoods, and several people stared at them as they passed.

Freya smiled kindly at some of the ones staring at them, and walked a little closer to Zack as a few of the older adults stared at her with raised eyebrows, almost as if they were challenging her or something.
Some whispered in shock, which made her a little uncomfortable, but she held her head up and continued walking with Zack, who squeezed her hand comfortingly.

"Is this the mate of Alpha Zack? She's so pretty."

"Isn't she the daughter of the Alpha of the Moonstone Pack? I heard she was a slut."

"Maybe she's not so bad. I mean, Alpha Zack seems to like her, and he's one of the hardest people to impress."

"I could snap her like a twig."

"They look so cute together! I've a new ship."

They walked through two sectors before slowing down in the third, which seemed to be the busiest of them all. It seemed to be the area that connected all the sectors.

"This is my parents' house. I live closer to the pack house where my office is," Zack muttered as they approached a handsome mid-sized house. Suddenly, the front door opened and a tall woman ran excitedly out of the house.

"Oh my goodness! You're here!"

Freya let go of his hand so he could hug the woman she assumed was his mother, but instead of hugging Zack, she ran up to Freya and hugged her tightly. Freya flinched as her grip tightened, but hugged her back anyway.

"Mom, relax. You're going to drive her crazy."

She pulled back and clasped Freya's face with her hands, "Oh my goodness, you're so beautiful. You must've so many me-"

"Mom." scolded Zack, giving Freya an apologetic look and pulling her hands from Freya's face.

She giggled and gave him a quick hug before turning back to Freya, "I'm sorry, dear, I'm just so happy to meet you. It's about time Zack found his mate."

Freya smiled warmly, "Nice to meet you,
Luna."

"You can call me Georgina, dear," she said, giving Freya a big grin.

Zack didn't really look like his mother in many ways, but there was no doubt that he'd his mother's smile. His mother had a heart-shaped face, curly light brown hair, and hazel eyes that sparkled mischievously.

"Honey, did you scare that girl away yet? I wanted to meet her," a male voice called from inside the house. A few seconds later, a man stepped out of the house with a small smile on his face.

Freya blinked in surprise. If Zack looked like this in twenty years, Freya was blessed. His father was very fit and handsome for his age, and one could definitely see the resemblance between him and Zack.

"Hello, Freya. I'm Kennedy, Zack's father," he said and shook Freya's hand.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, sir."

Before he could say another word, a young woman stepped out, holding a young man by the arm. She grinned broadly when she saw Freya and carefully helped the young man down the stairs.

Freya noticed that he was holding a white cane and realized that he was blind.

When the two stood in front of them, the girl hugged Freya and gave her a friendly smile, "Hello. I'm Pearl, Zack's sister. If you need information to blackmail him, you've come to the right place."

Freya giggled, "Nice to meet you, Pearl, and I'll keep it in mind."

Freya turned to the young man, "Hello, you must be Zack's brother. I'm Freya."

His head turned in the direction of Freya's voice, and he slowly stepped forward. His hand reached forward to feel her face, and he felt the contours of her face before smiling, "She feels good. Maybe I should lick her..."

"Okay," Zack said aloud, pulling his brother's hand away from Freya's face, "No need, Xavier."

Xavier laughed and took a step back, "I'm Xavier, the cooler of the siblings. If you need tips on pranks you can play on Zack, I'm your man."

"Once again, that's not necessary. Freya is very innocent," Zack muttered, giving his brother and sister a quick hug.

"Am I?" asked Freya curiously.

"Chance told me what happened that morning. So yes, you're very innocent," Zack said, giving her a pointed look. She blushed when she realized he was talking about the meat incident.

"Okay, now come with me, we've so much to talk about. You two can have your sweet moments later," Georgina said cheerfully, tugging Freya towards the house.

Freya looked back at Zack, who waved at her in amusement and said "have fun."

'Oh moon goddess.' Freya gasped.
