Her Alpha Mate 64
Freya:
When Zack said he would make it up to me, I expected it to be a nice little dinner. But from the looks of it, he had a very different idea.
We were standing on a well-lit path that led to a cozy-looking wooden cabin. Small lanterns lit up the whole area, so we could easily see everything in front of us.
"I take it you like it," Zack said, smiling at my puzzled face. He gently pulled my chin up and kissed me on the corner of my mouth. I nodded my head slowly, still unable to speak or process his words. He took my hand and led me to a tree stump that stood next to one of the lanterns. On the stump was a small bouquet of purple carnations. Zack picked it up and turned to look at me properly.
"One of the meanings of carnations is fascination, and I think that describes one of the first feelings I had for you. I was fascinated by the fact that you are not like other she-wolves and that you can stand your ground even in difficult times. Next to my mother, you are the strongest she-wolf
I know."
I suddenly had a thick lump in my throat as he handed me the bouquet of flowers. It almost felt like my heart was beating out of my chest as fast as he did.
He led me to the nearest tree stump where a small bouquet of pink chrysanthemums hung.
"These represent friendship, and I do not mean that as a friendship service. You may be my mate, but you are also my best friend, and there will be no one in this world who knows me as well as you do."
I took the bouquet from his outstretched hands, exhaled shakily, and tried not to burst into tears right away.
The next stump had a bouquet of blue irises.
"Irises have some meanings," he said, staring down at the bouquet as if deep in thought.
Before he could open his mouth again, I surprised him by finishing his statement, "They mean faith, wisdom, courage, and admiration."
His lips twitched as if to smile, but he maintained his calm, serious demeanor.
"They do," he replied, "and in my case they represent my admiration for your courage and wisdom, for always having a nice answer ready to bring me down a bit. They also symbolize my loyalty to you. I will never look at another she-wolf the way I look at you. That was the reason why I wrote the words 'his only' carved into your dog tags."
I did not even have time to reply as he handed me the irises and pulled me to the last stump in front of the cabin.
The last bouquet was of white orchids.
"Beauty," he said softly, "they represent a rare and delicate beauty. You are rare because you make me feel things I have never felt for anyone else, feelings I did not think I was even capable of. You are tender because if anything ever happened to you, I would feel a pain worse than being whipped a thousand times by silver. I'd rather that than lose you any day."
That was the last thing I needed to hear before I burst into tears. My arms wrapped around his waist and I buried my face in his chest. Immediately, he wrapped his arms around me and kissed the top of my head.
"I am not done yet," he whispered, slowly pulling away and wiping away my tears.
Slowly, he turned around and pulled the key to the cabin out of his pocket. After unlocking the door, he grabbed my hand again, making sure I was right behind him as we entered the house.
The cabin was not as small as it looked from the outside. To our right was a large kitchen, a nice living room with a warm fire in the fireplace, and two doors that I assumed led to a bedroom and a bathroom.
"Last but not least," Zack began, catching my attention as he leaned over a table, "roses."
He pressed the small bouquet into my hand, along with the other flowers.
"They do not just represent my love for you. They represent my appreciation. My appreciation for you sticking by me even when I am being silly. My appreciation for how much love you have shown me over the last nine months," he said, swallowing hard.
His eyes were a little clouded when he finally gave me a smile and took a large bow from the table.
"As beautiful as these flowers are individually, together they make a stunning bouquet," he said as he tied the ribbon around the stems.
"But most of all, they represent a stunning person," he whispered, his eyes darkening to the color of clouds on a stormy day.
It was as if he took the air from my lungs.
It was hard to breathe when we stared at each other so intensely.
Finally, he leaned over and kissed me passionately on the lips. I dropped the bouquet on the table and wrapped my arms around his neck as he lifted me up and carried me to one of the doors.
"Let us get down to business, shall we?" he growled softly.
I smiled against his lips, "What business?"
His fingertips dug into my ass, "The stripping business."
"So we are strippers now?"
"If so, I better be the only one watching you," he growled, pushing the door open.
"I don't. I kind of like having a big audience."
He pulled back and stared at me as if challenging me to say more. I gave him a sly smile and pulled him down to me for another kiss, just as he began to pull up my dress.
