Her Alpha Mate 42

Freya:

For some strange reason, I could always think better in the shower. It was as if the warm water helped my brain come up with new ideas, or in this case, solutions.

I was enjoying the quiet until there was a pounding on the door.

"Freya! Freya!"

I stopped in mid-foam and stared at the door, "What's wrong, Zack?"

Instead of answering, he pounded on the door again until it broke off its hinges and landed on the tiles. I winced as the sound echoed in the bathroom and squinted, "Really? You couldn't just wait until I opened it?"

It was clear he wasn't paying attention to a word I said, because he casually stepped over the broken door and opened the shower door.

"What the hell? Zack. You're going to get water all over the floor!" I screeched as he pulled me out. He handed me a towel and helped me dry off.

"What's going on here?" I asked again, annoyed.

"Juilet called again. The griffins are attacking tomorrow morning," he blurted out in barely intelligible words, but I got the gist of what he was saying.

My heart was pounding up to my throat and a sudden attack of nausea overcame me.

Tomorrow.

We'd less than twenty-four hours to get everyone who needed to be evacuated out of the pack. That was at least two hundred wolves.

We were toast.

My wolf pushed through the mind-link and growled at my pessimism. 'Get your head together. You're Luna. The pack relies on you.'

I exhaled loudly and started pulling on my clothes, "What've you been up to?"

He rubbed his forehead, "It was a good thing we sent the E.A.C. out. Alphas and their pack warriors will be here very soon."

I nodded and thanked the Moon Goddess that we hadn't sent them off a day late.
There was no way the other packs would have arrived in time.

An E.A.C., also known as an Emergency Alliance Call, was a request for all packs to forget all rivalries and join together to help a pack in need. And since Zack's pack was the largest, there was no doubt that several Alphas would agree to help.

Not to mention that if the Griffins were to become immortal, their first goal would be to wipe out all other species.

"Come, we must begin evacuating everyone. Your father and his pack warriors will be here any moment to help. Peter has asked his Beta to bring in more warriors, and Chance is sending out spies and trackers to keep an eye on all the paths and skies in case the Griffins decide to fly here."

"And Juilet?" I asked as we ran out of the bathroom and toward the stairs.

"She's on her way. She's flying in and stopping at the border. I've already told my pack leaders to let her in when she arrives."

"Does Reece know about this?"

He opened the door for me and put a hand on my back as we walked down the porch steps, "He knows. He hasn't acted on it, though."

I bit my lip, "That doesn't sound good."

Zack sighed, "Let's just hope he doesn't do anything stupid while she's here."

Twenty-five minutes later, Pearl and I went to people's houses and made sure they'd everything they needed before we sent them to the field where Zack would direct them from there.

When we got to the edge of sector four, Zack sent another message over the Pack Mind link. 'All men and women who're old, injured, or incapacitated for any other reason report to the field immediately!'

"Prepare for a rush," Pearl muttered as the trails suddenly filled with wolves rushing to the field with all the necessities.

"We should probably head there, too.
The other alphas should be here soon, too."

We followed the crowd to the field where Peter, Chance, and Reece were standing there watching all the wolves line up in their sector on the field.

We walked over to the three of them and I turned to Chance with a curious look, "Where's Zack?"

"The other alphas just arrived. He went to meet them," he said as he ticked off the pack members on his list.

Suddenly, we heard a loud screech from the sky and the pack went quiet as the griffin landed next to us. A wide grin formed on my face as I made eye contact with a pair of familiar brown eyes.

Juilet.

She changed back into her human form and ran over to me, "Freya!"

I glanced at Reece, who was staring blankly at her.

I frowned inwardly and hugged Juilet tightly.

"You scared us when you left."

She pulled back and frowned, "Didn't you get my letter? I explained everything in it."

"What note?"

"The note I gave to the pack warrior. His name was Raymond?"

I felt the urge to screw up my face. Of all the pack warriors, it had to be Raymond. It was no wonder we never got the note.

I took another look at Reece, only to find that he was rushing toward us.

Damn! What was he up to now?

Juilet noticed him right after me and her eyes widened, "Reece!"

He didn't give her a chance to say anything else before he lifted her up and put her over his shoulder. He looked at me and nodded, "Tell Zack I'll return to the house if he needs me."

Pearl and I exchanged a look as he walked away with Juilet yelling at him to put her down.

"Well, she's going to be pretty mad," Peter muttered, snorting.

"Peter! He hasn't even drawn her yet!"

"Do you really think he'll let her go without his mark this time?"

I paused and stared at Reece's retreating back, "No."

He growled in response and kissed Pearl's head, "I should probably mark you soon too. Your next heat cycle is soon."

Pearl rolled her eyes playfully and patted his chest, "How about after the war? Now's not exactly the best time to be rolling around in the sheets."

"Who knows?" Chance grinned, "If the Griffins see Peter naked, they'll probably faint in fright, making it much easier for us to kill them."

Peter growled at him, "At least my dick isn't the size of a toothpick."

"You measured it?"

A throat cleared behind us and we turned to Zack, who was standing there with about six alphas. He took my hand and pulled me into his side, "Alphas, this is my
Luna."

I smiled warmly at the five men and one woman, "Hello. Thank you so much for helping us."

They returned the smile with a brief nod before turning their eyes to my chest.

I blinked in surprise and only then realized that they were probably wondering about my heart. Although it made no sense that they were trying to stare through my shirt. Zack let out a warning growl and everyone looked at him.

"Alexis, this is Alpha Dennis, Alpha Asher,
Alpha James, Alpha Isabella, Alpha Luca, and Alpha Benjamin," he said, pointing to each of them.

"You're Alpha Nathan's daughter, aren't you?" asked Alpha James, squinting his eyes as if trying to remember if he'd ever met me.

I nodded, "Yes."

Alpha Asher suddenly bowed to me, "It's my pleasure, my lady."

The grip around my waist tightened as I stared at the bowing Alpha, "Thank you, Alpha Asher. It's a pleasure to meet you as well."

While I was a little uncomfortable with the bow, my she-wolf puffed out her chest and proudly raised her muzzle. 'I'm the queen. Take a bow, bitches.'

'And what am I then?'

'A human.'

I wanted to roll my eyes at her antics, but didn't think it was a good idea, considering that I was in the presence of six alphas who might think I disrespected them.

"Freya, your family is here," Chance called from behind us. Zack let go of me, and I quickly ran toward the six figures approaching the field.

It was my family, of course, and Evelyn and her buddy, Frederick.

"Oh, thank the moon goddess, you're okay!" my mother exclaimed, pulling me into her arms and hugging me tightly.

Where did I go that I'm not well anymore?

I patted her gently on the back and let out a sigh.

This was going to be a long night.

We'd almost everyone on their way to the Moon Stone pack, where they'd be mostly safe, when a tracker gave us a mind-link. 'Alpha, Luna. There were griffins spotted on both the east and west borders.'

Zack and I froze in our tracks.

"We haven't gotten them all out yet, though," I whispered, looking at the rest of the wolves.

There had to be at least fifty wolves left.

It took longer than expected because we'd to make sure the way was clear before we sent them off in small groups. We couldn't alert the other species by sending two hundred wolves that way at once.

"Shit, we've to distract them. We're not fucking ready," Zack said, looking to his pack warriors who were standing guard.

I looked to Evelyn, who was stuffing thickly padded armor under her shirt to protect her tiny baby bump - she was starting to look like she was nine months pregnant instead of two.

"Evelyn. My dearest, most beautiful best friend," I called out.

She raised an eyebrow as she noticed my expression, "Bitch, if you're thinking what I'm thinking, then we're thinking it too."

We then turned our heads to the two motorcycles that belonged to some pack warriors.

It was time again to put my racing skills to the test.
