Her Broken Mate 44

"Wow... you guys look terrible." Ryan commented, frowning.

Not a second later, a hand from Emily dropped behind his head. "Pumpkin, don't say that. I'm pretty sure Sarah and Seth know they look like shit right now."

Ryan's shoulders slumped and he feigned a whimper. "Ah, I'm hurt, dear. How could you hit your mate like that when he's just stating facts? Is this how play fights go? If so, I'm not into that kind of kinky shit..." he paused when he saw how deadly her stare was.

"Guess who's not getting a kitten tonight, bitch!" roared Emily.

And just like that, Ryan ended up yelling, "Nooo! Not the kitten!!!"

Sarah had enough of their so-called argument and growled, "As much as I love you two, get out of here if you're going to argue. As you can see, your two best friends are side by side in hospital beds recovering from the silver that almost killed them!"

That silenced them.

"I'm sorry, Sarah. Emily's been very hormonal lately with the baby growing inside her." Ryan explained, crossing his arms.

"What're you saying? Are you sick of me already?" Emily frowned.

"No, I'm not. I'm just saying..."

"FOR FUCK SAKES, I'M TRYING TO SLEEP!" Seth roared, his eyes pitch black.

Sarah could feel her wolves whimpering because Seth's words exuded so much authority. It didn't seem to bother his wolf, because it didn't affect her.

In fact, it turned Thunder on as much as it turned Sarah on.

'Damn you, you horny she-wolf.'

'What are you saying. I'm you too, remember? I mean, look at that beautiful ass. You can see it behind his hospital gown.' Thunder purred.

Sarah didn't dare look, there were children in the hospital.

She cleared her throat, calmed the situation and quickly changed the subject.

"Seth, we're not going to sleep anytime soon, because the reason Emily and Ryan came here in the first place is to tell us what they found with the scouts they sent out after the challenges."

He groaned and ran his hand through his hair as he lay down next to her on the hospital bed.

"And the funerals?" asked Seth, referring to the pack members who'd challenged him.

"All done." replied Emily.

"Great ... Great ..." Seth sighed and paused before continuing. "Let's hear about the reports. It's not like I'm suffering from the side effects of silver right now besides the love of my life."

Sarah suppressed a giggle and cleared her throat once more before signalling the Beta family to begin.

Emily and Ryan glanced at each other before beginning their report.

"When you asked us to investigate the eerie feeling behind your backs that someone was watching the challenges...
we believe it was Martha." Ryan voiced in a low voice.

Her eyes grew wide, "Martha? How did she get past the patrol?" asked Sarah forcefully.

"That's just it. We know she's a vampire. At least a hybrid mix. That's why she's so good at hiding her scent." explained Emily, whose eyes were frustrated at the lack of information they could find.

"Right... I almost forgot she was a hybrid." Sarah sighed.

The last time she'd met her, when she'd killed Ludovic and Beatrice... and Kate, too, Sarah would never forget the blood bags Martha and her villains had taken. Nor how long and dangerous her fangs were. Or how they dug into Ludovic's neck and sucked the life out of him.

Just thinking about it made her sad.

Sarah shook her head, she needed more information. "But what was she doing here? What's her goal?" she asked wearily.

"She was spying on us, Sarah. To see how far we've come, and I'm sure she was gathering the information she needed. She may have even been spying on us when Seth was training with the warriors." Ryan chirped, adding some more information.

"Damn ... there's no end to this, is there?
Why can't we've peace for five minutes?
I feel like I'm in a drama where there's one problem after another before everything settles down and there's a good or bad ending!" grumbled Seth.

"Exactly ... what's life?" asked Sarah.

"Not helpful, Alpha, Luna. I understand you're both stressed, but we really need a plan. The scouts saw something they shouldn't have, and there's a camp not far beyond our borders. It's pretty far away, but they estimate they'll reach us in about three weeks," Ryan explained.

"Three weeks?!" exclaimed Sarah.

Seth quickly chimed in, "I'm sure we'll be prepared and ready before three weeks, right Emily?"

"Yes, Alpha. The troops have been training for several weeks and have years of experience. With a little more time, maybe a week by my calculations, we'll be more than ready." said Emily, stepping in.

Seth and Sarah looked at each other and nodded with some sort of communication their way.

"Alright, get all the warriors ready that we've. Both werewolves and male wolves. We've a battle to finish." Sarah sounded, and Seth's determined nod supported her words. "The only thing I'm not so sure about is why she's doing all this. Is it really just about revenge?" she said aloud, unsure of everything.

Silence filled the room.

They were confused and didn't understand Martha.

Martha's words lingered on Sarah.

What did she mean?

Seth and Sarah have been busy almost continuously since they woke up. Sarah hasn't yet had a chance to talk to Jupiter about it. There was one time when he and she were alone, but that was bad timing. His ex-mate had just had sex with another man.

Everything was a mystery.

Sarah sighed and knew she'd to talk to him afterwards.

She closed her eyes and lost herself in her thoughts.

It's almost time.

To a meeting between the Alpha and
Luna's past.

They're after you, Martha.
