Her Alpha Mate 25

The last time Freya had kissed anyone had been eight years ago, so it was almost as if she was being kissed for the first time.

She'd pretty much no idea what to do once their lips touched, and neither did Zack. But after a few seconds of standing awkwardly, she moved her lips to his and silently prayed that she still remembered how to do it right.

As far as she could tell, Zack was still in shock from being so stiff, but he began to relax when he finally decided to follow her lead and move his lips slowly. It was a slow kiss, but it was still passionate and made her toes tingle with anticipation.

His lips were soft and tentative as he carefully massaged her lower lip - it almost seemed like he was afraid of hurting her. He let his hand rest on the middle of her back, where his thumb massaged small circles on her spine. She expelled a shaky breath as they both turned their heads to get a better angle.

This was really nothing like the kisses she'd had so far. None of them were as passionate or could leave her so breathless with intensity.

She was surprised when Zack decided to bite her lower lip and pull on it tentatively, making her groan. Her hand traveled up his chest to his dark curls where her fingers tangled and pulled at the roots of his soft hair. He moaned and pressed his lips harder against hers.

She didn't want it to stop, but she felt like she was going to pass out, getting dizzy with each passing second. She pulled back carefully, being careful not to bump their noses, and opened her eyes to look at him.

He was breathing heavily and staring at her with dark eyes. It seemed they were both still processing what had just happened.

"So that's what all the fuss was about," he whispered, giving her a breathtaking smile. She blushed and let out a shy giggle as he nudged his nose against hers.

"I'm pretty sure we've bumped noses a few times," he said, amused. The smile on her face grew even wider at his words, as it reminded her that all the awkward moments had only occurred because it was one of their first meetings.

He leaned forward once more and pressed a tiny kiss to the corner of her mouth, making her blush again - she almost felt like a giddy teenager.

Of course, someone had to interrupt the moment they were having.

"I don't mean to interrupt, but the pack meeting is in two hours, and we still need to figure out how to explain everything," Reece's voice called out, and they turned to the doorway, where he stood awkwardly.

She blinked and squinted her eyes, "Have you been standing there the whole time?"

"No, of course not. I'm not into that sort of thing," he said, rolling his eyes. She sighed and released her arms from Zack's neck, "Good, then let's plan the meeting."

Reece nodded and turned around, "I'll wait in the office with the others, but please sort yourselves out before you join them. Just look at your lips."

She ran her tongue over her lower lip and noticed how swollen it was. Zack's were just as swollen and the edges of his mouth were stained pink from her lipstick.

"Besides," Reece continued, "I'm not sure the pack wants to know what their alpha and Luna have been up to behind closed doors."

She glared at him and reached for a wooden spoon to throw at him, but he grinned and disappeared before she could do so.

"We should go," Zack said quietly, pulling away.

His distant tone made her heart sink slightly. He looked like he'd just realized something and regretted everything that had happened. She really hoped they weren't starting from scratch again.

She couldn't do it. She just couldn't. It would be too much for her wolf and her heart.

A wave of sadness washed over her as she realized something else that made her heart sink even deeper.

The full moon was in five days.

And they still hadn't officially accepted each other.
