Chapter 011 Mr. McKellen
At that moment, everyone looked at Dorothy, waiting for her to speak.
“Bernice, you were truly out of it! Yesterday, when I saw Jacob mistreating you, I immediately called Mr. Jones. As you know, Mr. Jones knows President David and has the connections to help you.
“However, Jacob still didn't show any respect and wanted to do something to you. After hearing this news, Mr. Jones was furious. He stormed in with a sword, beating Jacob and his gang until they begged for mercy,” Dorothy lit a cigarette and said this to Bernice.
After listening to Dorothy's words, Ethan was slightly stunned, then burst into laughter, shaking his head without explaining.
After Dorothy finished speaking, she glanced at Ethan, her eyes filled with an indescribable expression.
Everyone’s gaze now fell on Ethan, wanting to see if he had anything to say.
Jane even spoke directly, "Now that the truth is revealed, I guess you have nothing to say, right?"
Ethan chose not to speak. There was nothing left to explain.
Disappointed, Bernice shook her head. She thought Ethan was incompetent, but she didn't expect him to have such a despicable character, willing to compete with Norton for credit.
"All right, if you're not happy, then say no more. After all, Mr. McKellen has just arrived in the Smith family, and he needs some achievement to establish himself. Everyone can understand that!" Norton stood up at this moment to speak up for Ethan.
Ethan gave him a smirk, then calmly said, "Mr. Jones, stop this bullshit. It's none of your business."
Bernice's face darkened and she scolded, "Ethan, that's enough! You're useless yourself, yet you can't stand it when others are being better than you."
"Aren’t your thoughts a bit too narrow-minded?" Norton quickly said, "It's not his fault. It's normal for him to be a bit of a bumpkin. He will gradually improve."
Jane sneered, thinking that Ethan had become even more unbearable. She must persuade Robert to urge Ethan and Bernice to divorce as soon as possible.
Someone like Norton would be a perfect match for Bernice. The Jones Group is a prominent corporation in Boston. It can only be considered a true compatible match if they end up together.
What does Ethan, a small-town prison guard, have to offer to be on par with Bernice?
"All right, I know Ethan is not like that. There must be some misunderstanding. There's no need to say more!" Robert said sternly, shaking his hand.
Once the head of the family speaks, no one will press Ethan on this matter any longer.
When Dorothy went to the restroom, she bumped into Ethan at the entrance. He glanced at her coldly and said, "Why did you lie?"
He examined her from head to toe. She was not any less attractive than Bernice, wearing an exquisite long dress that matched perfectly with her slim legs. With her fluffy and beautiful long hair, there was nothing to nitpick about her appearance.
Ethan didn't think she seemed like someone who would lie, but now it seemed that he was mistaken.
"Is this Mr. McKellen's way of threatening me?" Dorothy's face couldn't help but show a pitiful expression; as if she was scared. "If I lied, will Mr. McKellen put me in prison? I'm a first-time offender. Mr. McKellen, please give me another chance."
Of course, Ethan could tell that Dorothy was mocking and despising him. In the eyes of these wealthy young people like Dorothy, he was just a small prison guard with ambitions beyond his capabilities.
Coincidentally, Bernice approached at that moment, and Dorothy immediately said, "Don't scare me. I'll speak up for you from now on..."
Bernice's face instantly turned grim and she angrily said, "Ethan, you good for nothing! You couldn't save me using your own effort, and yet you have the audacity to steal Mr. Jones's credit? Dorothy witnessed everything yesterday and told the truth. How dare you threaten her? You know I can kick you out and ban you from ever coming back."
Ethan helplessly said, "I didn't threaten her. It was just a normal conversation."
Dorothy quickly showed a panicked expression on her face and said to Bernice, "Yes, he didn't threaten me. We were just having a normal conversation. Bernice, don't misunderstand."
Seeing Dorothy's panicked face, Bernice's anger grew even stronger, and she said furiously, "Ethan, if I catch you threatening my friend again, I will make you pay! Let’s go, Dorothy. You don't have to be afraid of him. What can he do to you?!"
After saying this, Bernice didn't hesitate and immediately pulled Dorothy's hand and walked away.
Just before leaving, Dorothy turned her head, smiled slightly at Ethan, and displayed a proud expression on her face.
Despite Ethan's typically positive mindset, couldn't help but feel angered at that very moment.
‘Indeed, the prettier the woman is, the better she is at deceiving people,’ Ethan shrugged lightly and then heard someone arriving at the Smith family's villa.
The person looked like Robert and had an angry expression on his face.
"Robert, if you don't properly discipline your daughter and let her cause trouble every time, do you know how much trouble this will bring to our group?!" the man scolded angrily.
"Brother... Please calm down and explain properly. If you don't say anything, I won't know what happened either," said Robert as he shrugged helplessly.
Mason Smith had a grim expression and said coldly, ‘Your daughter went to negotiate business with Jacob from the Dragon Chamber of Commerce yesterday. As a result, she got drunk and went crazy, hitting Jacob's head with a bottle, causing him serious harm!
“Now, Jacob is publicizing this matter on a large scale, and the Boston Bank, which has a good relationship with the Dragon Chamber of Commerce, has rejected our loan because of this incident!
“If we couldn't recover the 20 million dollar debt, it would have been fine, but she caused such a big mess. How can the company operate now? How can she, with no merits and qualifications, continue to serve as the CEO of our Group?”
Upon hearing Uncle Mason's words, Bernice's pretty face immediately turned pale. Indeed, she had accidentally hit Jacob's head with a bottle yesterday, leaving a huge unforeseeable danger behind.
