Chapter 028 The Bar

Dorothy suddenly made an appointment with Ethan, which made him think that Bernice had encountered some trouble again.

"It's practically nothing. I just wanted to chat with you, is that not allowed?" Dorothy asked.

"Sounds boring," Ethan thought for a moment and gave this two-word evaluation.

Dorothy immediately became annoyed. ‘After all, I am considered a beauty. Taking the initiative to ask you out, could you be any more disrespectful?’

Dorothy, around 5'7"tall, may not be heavenly beautiful, but she is certainly a young beauty with both temperament and appearance. Ethan's uninteresting behavior made her express her disappointment!

After saying this, Ethan was ready to leave, but Dorothy grabbed him in a hurry.

"What do you mean? You think I'm beneath you?" Dorothy directly pulled him and forcefully pushed him into the car.

"I'm busy," Ethan said indifferently.

"We can talk about Norton!" Dorothy said bluntly.

Ethan frowned, but still let Dorothy shove him into the BMW. Then, she drove straight to a bar.

The bar wasn't very big, but it followed an upscale route, offering all kinds of drinks.

After finding a booth, Dorothy skillfully ordered a few bottles of liquor and then said, "Did you solve the Smith Group's loan?"

Ethan nodded slightly but didn't say anything.

Dorothy furrowed her eyebrows and said, "Don't you want credit for doing good deeds? Are you an idiot?"

Ethan replied, "Uncle has done a great favor for me. Helping the Smith family and Bernice is just a small matter, it’s insignificant."

Dorothy grinned, pointing her finger at Ethan's nose, and said, "I see that you and Bernice are destined to be apart. By doing this, it's like pushing her into Norton's arms!"

"Destined or not, there's no need to dwell on it," Ethan remained indifferent, pouring himself a glass of wine and calmly taking a sip.

Dorothy was certain that Ethan was a dull person. Helplessly shaking her head, she said, "The credit for securing the loan for the Smith Group has all been attributed to Norton."

"Today, Bernice personally called Norton and expressed her gratitude to him. If things continue like this, I don't think you'll ever win her heart!"

Ethan frowned deeply upon hearing this. How could any good deed he did be associated with Norton, that stinky pile of dog shit? He didn't mind quietly helping the Smith family, but having someone else take credit for his work made him feel disgusted.

Ethan's mood was sour now. If he were still in prison, he could have easily dealt with a couple of mischievous inmates to blow off some steam. But now, there was nowhere to vent this rage.

"I did mention to Bernice that this might be your doing, but she didn't believe me. You helped me avoid the trap set by the Jones Group, and I couldn't repay you. It's a shame," Dorothy said, spreading her hands and raising her glass to drink with Ethan.

As she spoke, Dorothy couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt and slight regret.

Meanwhile, upstairs, Michelle, who was drinking, noticed the familiar figure downstairs and raised an eyebrow. "I didn't expect this guy to be useless and a scumbag," she sneered with disdain.

Cara, sitting across from Michelle, asked, "What's wrong?"

Michelle pointed her finger at Ethan, sitting downstairs, and said, "There he is, Diana's former fiancé, Ethan."

Cara squinted her eyes and looked, saying, "He's Ethan? He doesn't seem particularly special. He's not worthy of Diana."

Michelle shook her head. Ethan wasn't capable, but he had quite a temper. She couldn't be bothered to say any more about him. Ethan was unaware of the attention he was receiving from upstairs. He thanked Dorothy sincerely while holding his glass.

Regardless of Dorothy's motives for getting close to him, the fact that she spoke up for him in front of Bernice deserved appreciation.

"Huh? Hey Dorothy, why are you drinking with this waste?" a voice rang out. It was Richard, the one from the sports club that day.

Ethan paid no heed to such noise and calmly savored his drink, not even bothering to look at Richard. Dorothy chuckled and said, "Richard, Mr. McKellen is honestly a decent person. Don't speak ill of him. Would you like to join us for a drink?"

Richard sneered, shook his head, and said, "Aren't you afraid of lowering your own status by sitting with this kind of person? I don't want to drink with this garbage! Otherwise, people who are drinking with me right now might also feel disgusted."

At that moment, an enchanting young woman in a red dress approached, wearing bright red lipstick. Her entire demeanor exuded a bold and outgoing energy. "Jasmine has arrived!"

Richard's face changed as he quickly and respectfully greeted her, "Hello, Jasmine!"

Dorothy, Ethan, and Richard all turned their attention to Jasmine.

Dorothy also stood up, a smile on her face, and greeted everyone sincerely. Reluctantly, Ethan was pulled to his feet by her as well.

Jasmine, the owner of this bar, nodded slightly and said, "Have a good time, everyone!"

Wherever Jasmine went, almost all the patrons in the bar would stand up to toast her. No matter how noble their status, Jasmine would only take a sip from her glass, just a gesture. Surprisingly, no one felt displeased.

After greeting everyone, Jasmine left the hall, and no one knew where she went.

"Why would Jasmine be in the bar today? She's usually so elusive," Richard's tone weakened considerably, clearly showing his respect for Jasmine.

"I don't know, but I never expected to have the chance to greet Jasmine!" Dorothy's voice was also filled with excitement.

Richard breathed a sigh of relief, gave Ethan a fierce glare, and said, "Country bumpkin, don't think just because this bar is small that there isn't someone powerful backing it! When you're here, drink your alcohol and behave yourself. Don't cause any trouble for yourself. Otherwise, even the heavens won't be able to save you!"

"Mr. McKellen isn't someone who causes trouble. Richard, just be a good companion to your friend and let's have a few drinks and leave." Dorothy said waved and her hand.

Richard pointed at Ethan and said, "And Bernice is not someone you can aspire to be with. Give up on that idea early. Today, I'm giving Dorothy some face. Otherwise, I'd make you sleep on the street like a dead dog for a night."

Ethan lazily glanced at Richard and thought to himself, if this kid dares to point at me again, I'll make his head have an intimate encounter with the tabletop.

However, Richard was lucky. After pointing at Ethan, he turned around and went upstairs directly...

Ethan stood up and said to Dorothy, "I'm going to the restroom."

"You're not planning to run away, are you? Don't worry, I'll pay for this bill!" Dorothy said.

Ethan couldn't help but turn around, pointing at his nose, and said seriously, "Do I really look like a country bumpkin? Do I look like a poor guy? Damn it, there's a financial tycoon back in the prison in X country who's crying and begging to give me billions and billions of dollars in checks!"

Upon hearing this, Dorothy couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"I fucking mean it!" Ethan's face turned a bit dark.

"Well, I believe you!" Dorothy immediately said seriously.

Satisfied, Ethan nodded, and when he entered the restroom, Dorothy couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"How could a country bumpkin like him know people like Joseph and James? It's strange..."

Ethan must have had a significant background and a great deal of influence, but at the same time, he seemed like a guy who hadn't seen much of the world...
