Chapter 036 The Security Department

Although Dorothy had many doubts in her heart and wanted to clarify them with Ethan, it seemed that Ethan had no intention of giving her that opportunity.

He drove Dorothy straight out of the door and, after dropping her off on the main street in the city, he left quickly.

“You’re not a gentleman at all. It’s very strange that Bernice would be interested in someone like you!” Dorothy said gritting her teeth.

Ethan went directly to the Aim Group to take care of the follow-up matters for his job.

Instead of receiving him, Ella had her pretty little secretary take him to the Security Department to report.

The minister of the Security Department was a man in his thirties. He was neatly dressed in a well-pressed suit and had short hair, exuding a sense of sharpness and strength from head to toe.

“Minister, this is Ethan, the new vice minister of the Security Department. Please help him become familiar with the department’s work,” the secretary said politely.

Even held a high position within the Aim Group and was highly regarded by Ella. He was responsible for various security tasks in the company, and sometimes even acted as Ella’s personal bodyguard.

When Even saw how young Ethan was, a hint of disdain flashed in his eyes as he said, “Come with me and get to know your colleagues!”

As the new vice minister, Ethan was given some reluctant respect as the employees weakly stood up and clapped to welcome him.

Even shouted, “Are you all lacking enthusiasm? Don’t you know how to applaud enthusiastically?”

At his shout, the employees immediately cheered loudly, and the applause grew livelier.

After completing these formalities, Even turned his head and looked at Ethan triumphantly. He believed that through these details, Ethan could see the weight of his authority in the department, but Ethan didn’t care at all. He was here just to get by with the Smith family and having a position was enough for him.

“I don’t know which relative or friend you used to get in here and secure a high position as vice minister,” Even said in a light tone after taking Ethan around and returning to the office.

“Our department can tolerate freeloaders, but not disobedient freeloaders! Since you’ve entered my department, you must listen to me obediently and complete all the tasks I assign to you without any exceptions!”

Seeing that Ethan was a young man, Even didn’t bother to sugarcoat his words. Similarly, he didn’t see a need to play any tricks with Ethan.

Ethan glanced casually at Even and calmly said, “You’re a capable person, but I’m only here to make a living. There’s no need to put a target on me.”

“You’re so young, do you think you’re qualified for me to specifically target you?” Even sneered, his face was filled with disdain. “You people with no skills are the ones I hate the most. You have no abilities, yet you want everything! It’s us, the truly capable ones, who need to start from the bottom and work our way up step by step.”

Upon hearing this, Ethan couldn’t help but chuckle in contempt.

Even’s face turned dark, feeling somewhat annoyed. However, since this person was arranged by Ella to be here, it wouldn’t show respect towards Ella if he taught him a lesson on the first day.

“I’ll have plenty of time to teach you a lesson in the future!” Even grumbled to himself.

Ethan paid no attention to Even’s facial expression. After leaving the room, he completed the remaining procedures required for his employment.

Ella, on the other hand, had someone secretly monitoring the security department’s affairs. After hearing the report, she furrowed her eyebrows.

“He doesn’t seem to be someone particularly talented,” Ella thought to herself, but soon dismissed the matter and began to focus on her busy work.

It didn’t take long for the entire security department to know one thing, that the newly appointed deputy minister had no abilities!

No one took this new and young deputy minister seriously. Even was the leader of this department, and everyone listened to him.

Ethan didn’t care about any of this. After completing the procedures, why would he bother competing with Even for power? Wasn’t it better to sit in the office and play on the computer?

“Tonight, you’ll be working with me. I’ll also bring along one of the subordinates from the department to accompany Miss Anderson for a business negotiation with the Tiger Group!” Even walked into Ethan’s office, giving orders as if he were in charge.

Ethan simply responded but didn’t let go of the mouse.

Even saw that he was playing a game and couldn’t help but furrow his brows. With a loud smack, he turned off the computer directly.

Even’s face darkened as he said, “Remember, even if you’re just here to pass the time, you still must show some effort! If I catch you slacking off again, don’t blame me for scolding you!”

Ethan shrugged, unfazed, and turned the computer back on.

If it weren’t for the missed opportunity to win the game just now, Even wouldn’t have left the office so easily.

“If my character achieves the highest score, I’ll turn off your computer and chop off your head!” Ethan muttered to himself as he opened the game again.

Even stood outside the office, glanced at Ethan, and couldn’t help but shake his head slowly. “I honestly don’t understand how Miss Anderson allowed someone like this to become a deputy minister, and even specifically assigned him to accompany us on the mission tonight.”

As soon as it was time to get off work, they all gathered in the underground garage.

Ella’s secretary was the first to arrive. Seeing that everyone was present, she immediately said, “Tonight, Miss Anderson will meet with Tom from the Tiger Group! We all know about the grudges between Tom and Miss Anderson. This time, Tom is here for the New Age Mansion’s piece of land. Miss Anderson concluded that Tom is likely to employ some unconventional means, so she hopes the Minister will remain vigilant and be ready to act at any moment.”

Even smiled lightly and said, “Just relax, I’m here, and I have my subordinates too. There won’t be any issues!”

He completely ignored Ethan and pointed to one of his subordinates.

This was a young man in his twenties, slightly older than Ethan, who appeared energetic and robust, leaving a strong impression.

“He’s a wrestler,” Ethan glanced at him briefly, discerning something about Samuel’s background.

Samuel noticed Ethan’s gaze but only gave him a disdainful glance. After all, this deputy minister had only been here for a day and already lacked any credibility within the entire security department.

Samuel believed that such a person was not worthy of his respect.

Moments later, Ella appeared, not saying a word, and went straight to her business-class Mercedes.

Everyone followed suit and got into their respective cars, heading towards a high-end restaurant.

“Ah, Ella, I knew you wouldn’t be late this time!” Tom stood at the entrance, seeing Ella step out of the car, and immediately greeted her with a smile.

“Mr. Brown,” Ella nodded coldly.

Next to Tom, a young man caught sight of Ethan and his face instantly darkened. With a sly grin, he said, “You bastard, I never expected to find you in the Aim Group. No wonder you were so arrogant!”
