Chapter 073 Apologies
Ethan didn't expect Bernice to be willing to kneel for Sienna's sake.
He snapped out of it and quickly reached out to hold Bernice, calmly saying, "Bernice, you should trust me once."
Bernice turned her head, looking at Ethan with a complicated gaze, and shook her head. How could she trust him?
"You don't have to kneel to this despicable person. I will make her apologize and repent sincerely to you and compensate for all the losses suffered by the Smith Group," Ethan said earnestly.
Sienna couldn't stand it anymore. She waved her hand fiercely and angrily shouted, "Enough! I don't want to see you pretend here anymore, Bernice. If you don't kneel, get out of the way. You all, get your hands on him immediately and disable his limbs! I want him to crawl to the hospital like a worm."
The bodyguards nodded, cracking their knuckles, ready to act.
"Stop!" at that moment, a furious shout came from the entrance.
The bodyguards were startled and turned their heads, only to find their boss, Dragon Chamber of Commerce founder, David, standing there!
Bernice's mind buzzed. Did David really come? Did Ethan call him?
Sienna saw David and couldn't help but smile. "Mr. Dragon, you're here... I was just about to call you."
David waved his hand, and the bodyguards around Ethan immediately dispersed.
"Mr. Dragon, you finally came. Otherwise, I would have been bullied to death by this woman's man! She couldn't defeat me in other areas, so she brought her own man to resort to violence. You must stand up for me!" Sienna, standing beside David, had a pitiful and charming look, appearing innocent and alluring.
Veins on David's forehead started throbbing, his mind in chaos, unsure how to explain to Ethan.
Ethan said coldly, "Little insect, tell me, should I personally handle this matter or do you want to deal with it for me?"
"Bold! How dare you speak arrogantly in front of the president!"
"Today, I must maim you and let you know the difference between respect and disgrace."
"Dare to insult the president? I won't rest until I tear your mouth apart!"
The bodyguards were all indignant, eager to perform in front of David.
Sienna's face also turned cold as she said, "You rotten scum who speaks without thinking, how dare you talk like this to the president? Now you can go home and pick a grave for your whole family!"
Sienna turned her head, only to find that David's face had changed, becoming deathly pale. He was truly afraid?!
"Sienna, who gave you the audacity to speak to Mr. McKellen like that?!" David bellowed, pushing Sienna's hand away and slapping her squarely in the face.
Sienna was thrown onto the couch by David's slap, covering her pretty face, with a red face full of confusion, unable to understand what was happening.
The bodyguards were all dumbfounded, too shocked to speak. Obviously, this scene had caught them by surprise.
"Mr. McKellen, I'm truly sorry. This foolish person doesn't know how to behave, and it’s unimaginable, I would never expect to offend you to such an extent! It's my fault that you had to come here personally to resolve the issue," David approached Ethan.
Seeing the imposing figure of David apologizing to Ethan left everyone present dumbfounded.
Bernice couldn't believe her eyes as she turned to Ethan. This guy surprisingly ever have such authority? Enough power to make David bow down before him?
Ethan remained composed and said, "Enough, I didn't come here to see you act, but to solve the problem."
"How does Mr. McKellen think this should be resolved?" asked David politely.
"I've already stated my conditions before, she just needs to follow them," Ethan glanced at Sienna with disdain.
Upon hearing this, David turned to Sienna and harshly said, "Mr. McKellen gave you the conditions, and yet you dare not comply? Don't you want to live?"
"Mr. Dragon, I... I didn't know... I didn't know Mr. McKellen had such a relationship with you..." Sienna's words became incoherent, her face pale with fear.
David coldly stated, "You do as Mr. McKellen tells you, or else don't blame me for showing no mercy!"
Sienna was frightened to the point of tears, trembling.
The bodyguards who had just spoken dared not utter a word now.
Ethan didn't just make a bold phone call earlier, he really did call David here, and it seemed that David was afraid of him.
Just as Bernice was in a daze, the sound of something falling caught her attention. When she looked up, she saw Sienna kneeling right in front of her.
"Bernice, I'm sorry, it's all my fault... I shouldn't have insulted you last night and certainly shouldn't have taken our friendship for granted. I'm kneeling before you now, sincerely apologizing, begging for your forgiveness..." Sienna was sobbing heavily, pleading for Bernice's forgiveness.
Bernice was a bit confused. She had initially come to kneel for three days and nights as an apology, but now, it was the other way around. Sienna knelt before her, apologizing and emphasizing their friendship, begging for forgiveness.
"I'll immediately post an apology to the Smith Group, and as I mentioned yesterday, I'll endorse them without payment... I'll also take responsibility for any losses incurred by the Smith Group. Bernice... I beg you, considering our past as classmates, please give me a chance and forgive me!"
As Sienna spoke, she even raised her hand to slap herself, showing her sincerity.
Ethan stood by, arms crossed, smirking, not saying a word.
Bernice couldn't bear to see Sienna like this and shook her head, saying, "If only we had known before. How did we end up like this? We were classmates, and even after entering society, we should still treat each other with respect. Helping each other, not despising each other... Rise, I forgive you," she said as Sienna tearfully stood up.
"Mr. McKellen, look, she has apologized, and Mrs. McKellen has forgiven her, hasn't she?" David said, smiling.
"Very well then," Ethan replied indifferently.
David couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. He had successfully passed this hurdle.
Sienna wiped away her tears, feeling a bit frightened deep down inside. Who exactly was Ethan? Wasn't he a prison guard? Why did he command such reverence from David?
"Let's go, let's head back," Ethan said, reaching out to grab Bernice's hand and leading her outside.
Unable to resist her curiosity, Bernice asked, "Why does David respect you so much?"
"He used to be in prison, and during his time there, I took 'care' of him," Ethan explained with a smile.
Having just returned to the company, Bernice received some bad news. The board of directors had announced her dismissal as the CEO.
"What do you mean, Christine?!" Bernice stormed into the meeting room and questioned loudly.
"This is what I mean!"
An aged voice came forth, and Bernice realized that an old man was sitting in a rather inconspicuous position.
"Grandfather..." Bernice froze, then clenched her teeth."
