Chapter 092 Card Game
The people attending Barbara's birthday party were mostly influential figures from the Boston area. As soon as Bernice got off the plane, she saw a few old friends and was immediately pulled over by them, engaging in pleasant conversations. Dorothy, on the other hand, followed Ethan, acting completely differently from her usual self.
In general, Dorothy would take the initiative to engage with people and expand her network in such situations. However, it was different now. She was just following Ethan, who was casually dressed, as they ate and drank on the cruise. This naturally attracted the attention of many people, but she paid no attention to it.
"Mr. McKellen, why not take Bernice back to the Sky Villa sometime?" Dorothy asked.
"That villa isn't something I bought myself. It was just a gift from someone. I wouldn't bring anyone there," Ethan said casually, not even considering the idea.
Dorothy smiled. In reality, once Ethan revealed his identity as the owner of "Sky Heaven," then the entire Boston, even the whole state of Massachusetts, would no longer dare to look down upon him!
Who could afford to live in "Sky Heaven" without having a remarkable background and resources?
After all, it was a mansion that Diana had tried to buy with connections but failed to acquire!
"Haha! Master, you finally came! I thought you weren't coming today!" Edwin said, quickly approaching Ethan to greet him.
"How skilled are the Korean and Japanese masseuses?" Ethan immediately asked.
The smile on Edwin's face stiffened. There were so many people around, why bring up this matter? Why couldn't he forget about it?
"Don't worry too much. I just want to know if they have the ability to establish themselves in America, nothing more," Ethan said, trying to change the subject.
Dorothy, standing by, had a gloomy expression and thought that men were not good creatures.
"Come with me to the casino and play a few rounds. Whether we win or lose, it's on me," Edwin said, wanting to divert Ethan's attention. He dragged Ethan towards a large hall inside the cruise ship.
Dorothy finally decided not to follow them. Sometimes, it was necessary to create some distance. Being close yet distant was the perfect ambiguity.
The casino on the cruise ship was quite impressive. The dealers and security guards were specifically rented from the casinos in Las Vegas, a task easily accomplished with the Miller family's influence.
Inside the casino, Ethan spotted Ella. She was wearing a white dress with a deep V-neck and a high slit that reached the upper thigh, exuding sensuality.
Diamond earrings hung from her ears, a pearl necklace adorned her neck, and she had three bracelets on her wrist, elevating her charisma to its peak.
That kind of allure made countless men hesitate upon seeing her.
At this moment, she was sitting at a card table, seemingly playing cards with someone.
Seated at the table were also Cara and Tom.
"Miss Anderson, your turn. Do you want this card or not?" Cara asked with a smile. She had a mountain of chips in front of her. In contrast, Ella had only a few chips left at her table.
"This is a grudge between big companies, and my dad's intention is not to get involved," Ethan shook his head and walked straight to the card table.
At this moment, Ella's $10 million chips were only left with about $800,000. If she lost this round, she would have no way out.
"Ella, your chips are about to run out. I hope you can keep your promise and exchange 10% of the shares with the Lee Group," Tom said with a smile.
Ella's face darkened, she directly threw away the two cards in her hand and said coldly, "I'm not playing!"
Cara and Tom teamed up to suppress the Aim Group, which put a lot of pressure on Ella. Recently, the Aim Group encountered obstacles in an industry chain.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Cara proposed to resolve it through gambling.
Each of them had $10 million in chips. If any of them ran out of chips, it would loosen the grip on this industry chain. If Ella ran out of chips, she would have to exchange 10% of the shares of her own group with Cara.
After Ella discarded her cards, Cara and Tom divided the chips on the table.
With a gloomy face, Ella threw out $100,000 in chips, took a deep breath, and said, "Let's continue!"
The dealer began shuffling and dealing the cards.
They were playing the simplest game, "Blackjack," also known as Twenty-One.
As the name suggests, whoever gets a "Blackjack" has the largest card value and wins the chips.
Of course, there are other popular rules here. If you get five cards without busting, that's the largest hand. Ideally, if those five cards add up to twenty-one, that's even better.
The so-called "Blackjack" is an Ace paired with any 10, J, Q, or K, and the second-best is twenty-one.
Ethan had already approached Ella and covered one of her hole cards with his hand, casually pushing all her chips away, saying, "Only this much left. How long will it take to break even playing with just $100,000? ALL-IN!"
Ella couldn't help but be surprised, turned her head, and said, "You..."
Cara was stunned when she saw Ethan appearing, while Tom's face turned very ugly.
"Who is this guy? He's so audacious to meddle in the high-profile game of big shots!"
"The three CEOs may seem friendly, but there's a hidden agenda. Will this guy be crushed as soon as he steps in?"
"This guy must be an idiot, attending the party dressed so shabbily! He's probably clueless to get involved in the matters of these big shots."
Everyone was stunned by the scene.
"Ethan, are you sure you want to get involved in this?" Tom asked with a gloomy face, his tone icy.
"Ethan, what are you doing? Don't push your luck... I have my limits for tolerating you!" Cara said, lightly stroking her Patek Philippe on her wrist, exuding a chilling aura.
At this moment, Bernice and Dorothy and then Edwin happened to enter the casino and saw Ethan pushing all of Ella's chips, which caused their expression to change.
Ethan said, "Playing cards, what else can we do? Did you all come to bully my boss?"
Cara coldly said, "This card game was agreed upon in advance, it's our business and has nothing to do with anyone else."
"This guy is truly brainless, he arrogantly barged in and offended Miss Lee and Mr. Brown. Tomorrow, he'll be smashed to pieces!"
"Miss Lee is a big shot from New York, and Mr. Brown is the successor of the Tiger Group. Both of them are not to be trifled with."
"Didn't he see how Miss Anderson, a tough woman, wanted to solve problems with them through playing cards? Obviously, she didn't want to confront them directly!"
"It's good that this person now knows his limits and retreats. The big shots won't make things difficult for him, but if he doesn't know what's good for him, he might end up dead."
Everyone witnessing this scene could only shake their heads.
Edwin forced a bitter smile as he didn't expect Ethan to get involved in this matter.
Joseph had already told him about this, to avoid participating as much as possible.
"Ethan, what are you doing! Get out of here and don't disturb them!" Bernice walked forward, grabbed Ethan's arm, and said in a deep voice.
At this point, she couldn't care about much else, fearing that Ethan would cause more trouble.
