Chapter 050 The Aim Group
After hearing Bernice's words, Jane was dumbfounded. She never expected her daughter to oppose divorcing Ethan.
Bernice's thoughts were unexpected. She aimed to become an outstanding woman like Diana, making Ethan feel ashamed and leave on his own accord.
Christine sneered, "This useless guy always manages to stir up trouble. Now he has offended the Hawker family. What's next?"
Mason added, "Exactly! Your family needs to seriously consider this. I don't want the Smith family to be involved because of him, again."
Other relatives also chimed in, blaming Ethan for causing trouble and urging them to distance themselves from him.
"Ethan next time don't act so impulsively. Don't always rely on such intense means to solve problems. This time we were lucky to have General Walsh's help, but you might not be so fortunate next time," Robert advised Ethan with a solemn tone.
"I understand. Thank you for your guidance, Uncle," Ethan replied with a faint smile, without arguing back to Robert.
Robert then asked, "What about your job? Have you found something?"
Ethan nodded and said, "Yes, I'm now working at The Aim Group."
"The Aim Group?!" The Smith family was taken aback. The Aim Group was one of the top companies in Boston, and Ethan managed to find a job there?
"What kind of job are you doing? Please don't tell me you're a janitor or a security guard!" Jane asked disdainfully. "Or is it in line with your previous job as a prison guard?"
Bernice shook her head and said, "Ethan, don't be ungrateful. You had nothing, and my dad gave you an opportunity. Just agree to his arrangements! Do you think working as a dead-end security guard at The Aim Group is better than working under the Smith Group?
"At the Smith Group, though they only let you start as a bottom-level employee, there is room for advancement. Once you accumulate experience, you could even enter middle management. Stubbornly maintaining your pride like this serves no purpose!"
Although Bernice still disliked Ethan, he had helped her out twice, so she no longer spoke as harshly as before.
"Who said I'm a janitor or a security guard at The Aim Group? I'm a deputy minister," Ethan retorted.
At this moment, Mason couldn't help but sneer and said, "Robert, this is your son-in-law. Besides causing trouble and bragging, he can't do anything else!"
Christine also scoffed, "Uncle, you've really found a great son-in-law! I saw it myself just now. When General Diana appeared, this guy backed off! What's the point of keeping a useless person who has no sense of responsibility and only causes trouble and boasts?"
Jane and Bernice both felt embarrassed.
"Just a prison guard, yet holding the position of Deputy Minister in the Aim Group? It's truly ridiculous! The employees that can join the Aim Group are at least university graduates. To hold a managerial position, it requires even higher qualifications, or achievements and abilities in the business world! Look at yourself, do you have any qualifications to be hired by the Aim Group as Deputy Minister?"
"That's right, the Deputy Minister at the Aim Group starts with an annual salary of at least five hundred thousand dollars. Do you think your face looks good enough to deserve Miss Anderson spending half a million dollars a year to hire you?"
"If he can become the Deputy Minister at the Aim Group, then I can become the richest person in the country!"
Relatives also ridiculed and mocked one after another. Ethan was no longer the young master of the McKellen family in front of them. He was nothing.
With a dark face, Bernice said, "Ethan, have you forgotten what my father said to you before? A man can lack talent, but he must have responsibility and a sense of duty! He must be down-to-earth! Is this what you call being down-to-earth? You keep saying you respect my father, but is this how you show your respect?"
Ethan sighed helplessly, spreading his hands and said, "This was appointed by Ella herself. If you have any questions, you can go ask her!"
"It seems you've done your research well, even knowing Miss Anderson's name! Miss Anderson personally received you, a small prison guard, and gave you this appointment, impressive!" Christine said sarcastically.
Ethan replied calmly, "Is there a problem?"
Christine sneered, "If you can provide evidence that you are the Deputy Minister at the Aim Group, I'll kneel down and call you 'dad' right here!"
At that moment, Ethan's phone rang.
Ethan picked up the phone and answered, "Miss Anderson, what is it?"
After a brief pause, Ella said, "Can you come to the company when you have time? I have some information to give you."
"Oh..." Ethan responded.
Christine burst into laughter and said, "You're really good at pretending. Do you really think we would believe it?"
"Too ridiculous, it really looks like it. Would someone as influential as Miss Anderson call a small prison guard like him?"
"He probably hasn't gotten over his trauma from back then, still thinking he's the young master of the McKellen family? How laughable!"
"If Miss Anderson can give him a call, then tomorrow the Mayor of New York could call me."
"Finally finished talking, haha..." Ella frowned and asked, "What's going on over there? Why is it so noisy?!"
"It's nothing, just a dog barking," Ethan replied casually, then continued speaking as he left the Smith family.
These relatives of the Smith family had angered Ethan to the point where his face turned pale. Soon, the room became noisy again.
"Robert, look at your son-in-law's attitude. We exposed him, and he still dared to curse at us?"
"He shows no respect! A person like that will surely bring great trouble..."
"Look at him, does he really look like someone who could be the deputy minister of the Aim Group? Make Bernice divorce him as soon as possible!"
Robert sighed helplessly, raised his hand, feeling exhausted, and said, "Let's all go back, everyone is tired after today's events..."
Everyone looked at each other unhappily.
Ethan lazily left the Smith family and headed to the Aim Group, where he took some documents from Ella.
He casually dialed a phone call to the prison, and the prison guard ingratiatingly said, "Second Boss!"
"Oh...give the phone to Gusinsky!" Ethan instructed after some thought.
Gusinsky, the Swedish tycoon who owned billions of dollars in assets!
"Goosehead," translated from Swedish language, means "Gusinsky."
"No problem, Boss! If you need anything, just say the word, and I'll surely help!" Gusinsky cheerfully replied.
Sydney Prison was his protective umbrella, with KGB agents always waiting for him outside. Once he was out, his life would be in constant danger.
After listening to Ethan's detailed explanation, Gusinsky said, "Boss, this matter is simple. I will immediately find the top financial experts for you, and it's no problem to allocate one or two hundred billion from my assets!"
Ethan was satisfied and said, "Very well, I'll add an extra thirty minutes of recreational time for you!"
"Thank you, Boss!" Gusinsky said, feeling both grateful and helpless.
Suddenly, Ethan paused in his steps, hung up the phone, and looked at the person in front of him with a smirk. He asked, "Are you here to die?"
