Chapter 075 Calling Dad

Sienna's secretary was invited into the conference room.

"Please go back and tell Sienna that we will definitely find a way to earn her forgiveness. Give us some time," Christine said hurriedly.

The secretary looked at Christine with a odd expression.

She didn't pay any attention to the others and instead spoke to Bernice, "Miss Smith, I apologize for Sienna's absence. She is not feeling well and couldn't come in person."

Of course, Bernice knew exactly why Sienna couldn't make it. After all, she had just been slapped by David, and her face was probably swollen by now.

"No problem, what can I do for you?" Bernice politely asked.

"Well, Sienna has written an apology letter which I would like you to review. Additionally, there is a contract for your company to have Sienna as their spokesperson without any charges. Lastly, here is a check for thirty million dollars as compensation for the damage caused to your company." The secretary took out the items from her briefcase including the apology letter, the contract, and the check.

The secretary's words left the entire board of directors speechless. They had been prepared to witness Bernice being scolded, but it turned out that Sienna had intended to apologize sincerely.

What kind of power did Bernice possess to make Sienna bow down like this? How humbling!

Christine watched this scene in disbelief, feeling every word like it was a slap to her face, making her feel extremely uncomfortable.

Grandpa Smith furrowed his brows. He had planned to discuss how to seek forgiveness from Sienna, but he never expected Bernice to have it resolved already.

"Wait, am I mistaken? Bernice offended Sienna so badly, and Sienna forgave her just like that?!" Christine exclaimed, shocked.

"Sienna sincerely apologizes to you and hopes that you can accept it," the secretary ignored Christine and spoke directly to Bernice.

"What? Sienna apologized to Bernice?!"

The executives were all puzzled, unable to grasp the situation.

Ethan reached out and took the items from the secretary's hand. He said, "We understand Sienna's intentions. Please tell her that the matter ends here."

"Yes, Mr. McKellen," the secretary replied respectfully before leaving.

Ethan turned his cold gaze towards Christine and said, "Kneel down and call me dad."

"What? You want me to kneel and call you dad? Do you deserve it?" Christine said, a mixture of shock and anger in her voice.

"You made a bet with me just now. You said if we resolved this issue, you would kneel and call me dad," Ethan said calmly. "Everyone heard it. Are you going to go back on your word now?"

Christine's face turned ugly, and her father, Mason, who was with her, also had an unpleasant expression. After all, Christine was his daughter. Kneeling and calling a young man dad—what was this all about?

With a cold smirk, Christine said, "Yes, I am going back on my word. What are you going to do about it?"

"This is the Smith Group's internal affair," Ethan shrugged.

"The Smith Group is our industry, and I do as I please! I'm retracting my words, are you going to challenge me? If you do, what can you do about it?" Christine added.

Ethan turned to look at Grandpa Smith and asked, "What do you say?" Grandpa Smith acted like he didn't hear, clearly favoring Christine.

At this moment, Bernice was also angered. She knew very well that with Christine's aggressive personality, if Ethan had failed, he would surely be pushed into a corner by her. But since Ethan won, she just backed out openly and shamelessly, which was utterly despicable!

What's more, the executives and Grandpa Smith also seemed biased, as if this whole incident hadn't even happened.

"Oh... never mind then. I'll just tear these things up and consider it my defeat," Ethan said with a smile, raising his hand and tearing the apology letter with a crisp sound. Grandpa Smith's eyelids twitched, and the executives were also shocked.

"Let's tear up the $30 million check too, since no one wants to acknowledge it," Ethan continued smiling.

"Wait!" Grandpa Smith quickly stood up. Everyone saw that Ethan had torn up a piece of paper. Each executive couldn't help but feel a mix of shock and anger. They never expected Ethan to casually tear up a $30 million check!

Grandpa Smith was also livid and angrily asked, "You... you tore up our $30 million?"

"It's just a piece of paper that I tore up. The check is right here. But if someone continues to refuse, who knows, I might actually tear it up!" Ethan said seriously.

Grandpa Smith said sternly, "Bernice, aren't you going to control your husband?!"

At this point, Bernice was also enraged and pretended not to hear.

We're all family, why should everyone bully me?

Ethan yawned and said, "Well, then I really will tear it up. You can go explain it to Sienna yourselves."

After saying that, he really intended to tear up the $30 million check.

"Wait, grandson-in-law, let's talk it out." Grandpa Smith suddenly changed his tone, smiling and sounding very friendly.

"Oh? What do you suggest? Someone wants to renege, so it's useless to keep it!" Ethan said with a troubled expression.

Grandpa Smith was filled with anger inside, but still put on a smiling face and said, "Who dares to renege? Everyone clearly heard it just now, no one dares to renege in front of me!"

Christine hurriedly called out, "Grandpa!"

"Shut up!" Grandpa Smith scolded, "If you make a mistake, you have to take the consequences. If you're willing to gamble, you must be willing to accept the loss. Christine, fulfill your promise immediately!"

Grandpa Smith's scolding made Christine look completely aggrieved.

Her face turned red.

Ethan raised the check in his hand, gesturing for Christine to hurry up.

Under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Christine could only kneel in front of Ethan.

She felt extremely frustrated in her heart. She indeed knelt down to a man whom she had always looked down upon!

"Father..." Christine gritted her teeth, forcing out the word from between her teeth.

Mason, sitting in the chair, was furious, his eyes turning bloodshot. But there was nothing he could do. After all, Christine had brought this upon herself.

Bernice turned her head and glanced at Ethan with some blame. Although she also found this satisfying, she felt it went a bit too far.

Ethan sneered and said, "Alright, my good daughter, get up now."

After saying this, he threw the check and contract to Grandpa Smith, saying, "Shouldn't Bernice continue as the president?"

"Uh..." Grandpa Smith nodded silently.

Bernice couldn't help but feel relieved. She turned to Ethan and gave him a subtle smile.

This was the first time she had smiled at Ethan after such a long time.

After Christine stood up, she became furious and shouted, "Just now, Bernice made a promise to get the project from the Aim Group! Grandpa, I think we can use this to evaluate her. If she can really do it, then let her continue as the president, and no one will object. If she can't, then she should step down immediately!"
