Chapter 080 Reason
"It's Victor Hodge, the top figure in the Boston police. He's certainly leading the team himself. I wonder what happened?"
"Mr. Hodge is known for his toughness. Whoever committed the crime is probably in big trouble!"
"I never thought I would have the chance to see someone as important as Mr. Hodge today. I don't even know who could have provoked him. They're truly ignorant."
After seeing Victor's imposing arrival, some of the onlookers couldn't help whispering to each other.
After entering the restaurant, Victor led the team straight to the private room. Some curious onlookers quietly followed behind, ready to see what had happened.
"Mr. Hodge!" The restaurant manager greeted Victor with a smile.
"Hmm..." Victor simply responded.
Soon, he led the team to the entrance of the private room, gesturing for the detectives to secure the area outside.
"The people inside are with the heir of the Tiger Group, Tom. I saw several members of the Tiger Group being knocked down. Has someone crossed paths with the Tiger Group?"
"Oh my god... They dared to go against the Tiger Group? Mr. Hodge must have been called by Mr. Brown. Whoever touched the Tiger Group is done for."
"Mr. Hodge personally leading the team here clearly means that Mr. Brown has spoken. This matter won't be resolved easily. The person who acted up is in big trouble."
After briefly understanding the situation, everyone continued to discuss in hushed voices, firmly believing that Ethan was looking at certain death.
As Victor stepped into the private room, Ella's eyebrow slightly raised. It seemed that Tom was aiming to escalate the situation. Even if she wanted to protect Ethan, it would come at a much heavier cost!
Upon seeing Victor's arrival, Tom hurriedly went up to shake hands with him and said, "Mr. Hodge, you've finally arrived. You have to help us innocent businesspeople!"
"Here's what happened. Today, I invited Miss Anderson for a meal and had my subordinate reserve a private room at the restaurant."
"The private rooms were all booked, so I sent my subordinate here to negotiate with the other party. However, they refused to negotiate and even resorted to physical violence."
"As you can see, all of my subordinates were injured by this villain..."
While speaking, Tom pointed at Ethan.
Doris quickly added, "Mr. Hodge, I am the party involved and can testify!"
After nodding, Victor waved his hand and said, "Take them away!"
"Huh?" Ethan couldn't help but pause for a moment.
Then, he smiled and said, "Mr. Hodge, I'm also a part of the law enforcement system. Although we aren't in the same unit, I am familiar with these procedures to some extent. Shouldn't you listen to both sides of the story before making a judgment? Or perhaps, bring both parties for an investigation together."
However, Tom coldly replied, "Who do you think you are? Even if you have a good reason, it's wrong to hit someone. In Boston, if we want to deal with you, you better stand there and take it obediently. If you dare to fight back, that's a crime!"
Ella's brows furrowed in displeasure. After all, Ethan was also a member of the Aim Group. Tom's words were clearly provocative when said in front of her.
Seemingly eager to confront him personally, it appeared that Tom couldn't wait for his turn to face Ethan.
But the more Tom acted this way, the less likely Ella would take the initiative. She remained coldly observant of the situation.
After hearing Tom's arrogant words, Victor showed no signs of displeasure. He simply said to Ethan icily, "Do I need you to tell me how to do things? If you're better than me at doing things, should you be the Chief of Police then? Get on your knees with your hands behind your head and come back with us for questioning."
Onlookers shook their heads upon witnessing this scene.
"He knows no bounds. He offended Mr. Brown of the Tiger Group and attracted Mr. Hodge personally leading a team here, yet he still tries to play tricks like this?"
"It's useless. Even if he's eloquent today, he'll still end up in jail."
"Why provoke the Tiger Group? He really brought it upon himself."
Everyone believed that Ethan had brought this upon himself. After all, not everyone could afford to provoke the Tiger Group.
Dorothy couldn't help but feel nervous. With so many detectives arriving, and even the Chief of Police personally leading the team, it seemed that Ethan wouldn't be able to resolve this!
"Ethan, didn't you just say that we should eat up all the food here? Why don't you repeat that statement for everyone to hear? I'll give you a chance. Kneel and finish all these dishes without leaving a single bite! Or perhaps, the Tiger Group can give you a chance, and Mr. Hodge might give you a lighter punishment, maybe just three to five years of imprisonment..."
"Never mind," Doris smirked at this moment, directly throwing a plate of spit-covered food in front of Ethan, and said coldly.
Helpless, Ethan smiled and said, "You guys barged into my private room, imposing on me, and even spat in my food. Now you called the chief of police to arrest me. Isn't this unreasonable? Don't you respect principles and the law anymore?"
"The law? I am the law in Boston!" Victor sneered directly upon hearing this, striding to Ethan. "Did you hear what Doris said just now? Are you coming with me now to cooperate with the investigation, or will you finish eating this first? Although you'll go to jail either way, if you accept Doris' terms, you might serve a few years."
Ethan's smile slowly faded as he spoke earnestly, "It seems even as the esteemed chief of police, you're not willing to see reason."
Victor coldly replied, "Reason? What reason! I only know that you've offended someone you shouldn't have, and you even resorted to violence. Since you dare to use your hands, you must consider the consequences! That's reason enough!"
Upon hearing Victor's words, everyone couldn't help but scoff.
"Is Ethan an idiot? Offending Mr. Brown of the Tiger Group and still talking about principles and law? How ridiculous!"
"Mr. Hodge personally led the team here. Can't he understand the situation? If I were him, I'd kneel and apologize immediately. Maybe there's still a glimmer of hope."
"That's right, this guy keeps spouting nonsense, wasting everyone's time."
At this moment, Ethan shook his head slowly and said, "If the chief of police doesn't uphold justice and reason, then I'll have to do it myself."
Victor's expression turned cold, but he remained silent, yet the threat was evident.
"Mr. Hodge is already here, what else can you do? Are you threatening me to finish these dishes before I can leave the private room?" Doris sneered disdainfully, looking down on him completely.
"No, I've finished saying what I wanted to say. Now it's time to act," Ethan said seriously.
Everyone looked at him as if he were a monster.
"No way! This guy is still planning to take some action?"
"In front of the Chief of Police of Boston, he wants to get physical?!""
