Chapter 112 Why?
Five minutes had passed, and Ethan still hadn't come out.
Bull couldn't help but say, "Could he have been beaten to death in there? Should I go in and check?"
Max coldly replied, "If he was beaten to death, he deserved it. He overestimated his abilities and deserved such an outcome." As he spoke, he glanced at Dorothy, implying that Ethan was not worthy of her.
Dorothy, however, rubbed her ankle and remained silent with a smile spread across her face. If Ethan could be killed by Ruben's bodyguards, then Remington wouldn't have had to deal with him yesterday.
Two more minutes passed, and the door suddenly opened.
"He's going to be thrown out!" Bull yelled as a smile appeared on his face.
However, to his surprise, Ethan wasn't thrown out. Instead, he walked out with Ruben.
Max's pupils contracted sharply and a look of utter astonishment replaced his previous know-it-all expression. What was going on?!
After Ruben came out, he smiled at Max and said, "Mr. Bush, you and Mr. McKellen are acquaintances. Why didn't you tell me earlier? With this kind of connection, I wouldn't refuse to help you with this small favor."
"Huh?!"
"Mr. McKellen?"
"He... Ethan?"
Max looked at Ethan in utter shock, unable to speak for a moment.
Bull was also extremely surprised and felt quite embarrassed.
He had publicly claimed to be Ruben's disciple, even telling the heavens of how he had a deep relationship with Ruben, telling Max that he could be able to resolve this issue.
"Mr. McKellen has done a great favor for our Miller family. If you had told me earlier that you were his friend, how could I possibly refuse?" Ruben chuckled, patting Max on the shoulder in a friendly manner.
Max was dumbfounded and hurriedly replied, "Yes, yes, yes... it's all my fault for hiding this... hahaha..."
Ruben then turned to Bull and said, "I didn't expect you to be a friend of Mr. McKellen. I'll invite you to my lectures in the future."
"Uh, thank you, Mr. Ruben!" Bull responded reluctantly, not expecting to benefit from Ethan's influence.
Ruben said, "The favor you asked for is a small matter. I'll say a few words later. Don't worry about it!"
"Great, thank you, Mr. Miller!" Max quickly grasped Ruben's hand and shook it vigorously, feeling a great sense of relief.
After a brief chat, Ruben left the club due to other commitments.
Max looked at Ethan in surprise and said, "Mr. McKellen, you actually know Mr. Miller? I'm sorry for my oversight!" Unconsciously, his form of address for Ethan had changed.
Ethan replied, "We’re just casual acquaintances. He just owes me a favor, which I used just now."
Max felt even more uneasy. It was no small matter for Ruben to owe someone a favor. Moreover, Ethan had used this favor to help the Bush Group.
"So, it's just like that. My teacher values favors highly. Now that you've used his favor, it might be difficult for you to intersect with him in the future." Bull, standing aside, couldn't help but mock him.
"People, in the end, need to have their own careers and abilities. It's not right to rely on luck to make connections with important people."
"This favor, after all, will one day be used up!"
Ethan didn't even bother to respond to Bull.
Bull said to Max, "Mr. Bush, I got a small project from a friend that could help the Bush Group earn a few million dollars."
After saying this, he handed his phone to Max with a proud look on his face.
"Oh... speaking of projects, I forgot."
"I got a few projects from New Age Mansion, one of which I was planning to give to the Bush Group."
Ethan remembered this and handed his phone to Dorothy.
Bull couldn't help but sneer when he heard this, "Do you think the Aim Group is a market? Can you just take their projects as you please?"
But Dorothy had already exclaimed, "Dad, come and see! Mr. McKellen has arranged a project for us that can earn more than twelve million dollars!"
"What?!"
Upon hearing this, Max immediately put down Bull's phone and ran over to Dorothy to look.
Bull's face turned pale, and he muttered, "It must be fake!"
After saying this, he also leaned in to look, then sneered, "It's just a picture; it's easy to forge. I have an electronic contract that's already been signed!"
Max was also doubtful. After all, would the Aim Group just give away such a profitable project? It was hard to believe!
In the midst of their conversation, Bull saw a figure and was stunned, then he sneered and said, "Ethan, if you continue to use the Aim Group's name to deceive people, you’ll soon meet a horrible fate at their hands."
After saying this, he ran towards the figure with a flattering smile, "Miss Anderson, hello! My name is Bull. We had a brief conversation at the exchange meeting last time..."
This person was Ella.
Ella looked at him expressionlessly and asked, "What's the matter?"
"There's a guy over there who's using the Aim Group's name to deceive people. You should go and take a look!" Bull said, pointing at Ethan.
Ella turned her head and saw Ethan. She was taken aback, gave him a cold smile, squinted her eyes, and rushed over with a furious look.
Upon seeing Ella's furious look, Bull's face showed a triumphant smile, saying, "McKellen is doomed! Ella won't let him go!"
"What happened? Why is Miss Anderson so angry? I've never seen her look so dark!" Max looked up and saw Ella, almost dropping his phone in fright.
Dorothy was also taken aback, not understanding why Ella was so angry.
Noticing that Ella was approaching quickly, Max felt his scalp tingling and whispered, "Could it be that Ethan really is deceiving people? Was he just using the Aim Group's name?"
Before Dorothy could respond, Ella was already close.
"Deputy Minister McKellen, you've got a lot of nerve; how dare you block me!" Ella said coldly, her face dark.
"Nonsense, my phone just ran out of battery," Ethan said indifferently, taking his phone from Max and putting it in his pocket.
The screen was still lit, and he quickly pressed the power button to turn it off.
This was clearly a blatant lie! He was lying right to her face!
However, Bull and Max were both stunned. What did she call him?!
Ethan knew Ella and seemed to be her subordinate? A deputy minister?
Bull felt as if he had been struck by lightning; his worldview was about to collapse...
How could a small prison guard have such a background and connections?
Why? Why?!
