Chapter 090 You're Fired!
Ella's words directly plunged Mario's heart into the abyss.
"Effective immediately, Mario will be relieved of his position as the head of the project department and temporarily replaced by Ethan, the deputy head of the security department," Ella issued the order in a casual manner.
Ethan was stunned. After all, he didn't understand the business side of things very well.
Angrily, Mario said, "Ella, you've gone too far! We're family, how can you favor an outsider like this?"
Ella coldly interrupted, "Have you done such things any less over the years? Do I need to present evidence, and even send you to court? Just by removing you from your post, you should behave yourself and stop being noisy here. If you continue to babble, I'll make sure you spend the rest of your life in jail!"
As soon as she said these words, Mario felt a chilling sensation in his neck, frightened and trembling.
"Twice is enough, I don't want to say anything more."
The employees in the project department were all dumbfounded. Just now, they had offended Ethan in the ward with their harsh words.
Now, Ethan has suddenly become their new boss. How will they handle it when that time comes?!
On the other hand, Ella criticized verbally for a few moments and deducted a quarter of the bonus.
"Now that you are in charge of the project department, you can assign a few projects to the Smith Group without encountering any obstacles," Ella said casually.
It was obvious that Ella wanted to use this opportunity to get rid of Mario completely, so she didn't bother to explain the situation to the project department, and it was no wonder that Bernice was targeted by Mario.
Ella's expression chilled as she said, "The group is facing financial difficulties, and many industries are struggling. If things continue like this, the Lee Group and the Tiger Group will come and crush us with their massive funds.
"The only way for the Aim Group to avoid bankruptcy is to do what needs to be done. I want to ask you, how are you going to help me solve this issue?"
Ethan smiled and replied, "You handle it for now. When Diana steps in, then I will make my move."
Ella was displeased. If Ethan said so, it obviously meant that he could acquire a large amount of funds to solve the difficulties, but he was not willing to take any action at this time, which would result in the Aim Group suffering some losses.
However, if the Aim Group ultimately emerged victorious, these losses would be insignificant.
"I hope you don't disappoint me!" Ella took a deep breath and said in a deep voice.
Ethan waved his hand casually and then left, going directly to the deputy minister of the project department. The deputy minister trembled with fear upon seeing him.
Ethan said, "I am only acting temporarily, and I am not well-versed in business. You have the final say in the project department. I need a few small profitable projects now, preferably on the land of New Age Mansion. Please arrange it for me."
Ethan took three projects from the project department, assigning two of them to be contracted by the Smith family, and the other one to be prepared for Dorothy's Bush Group.
Seeing Ethan return with projects in hand, it surprised the three members of the Smith family.
After a moment of silence, Jane said, "What's so rare about this? Miss Anderson is reasonable. Mario went too far and disgraced the reputation of the Aim Group. Miss Anderson is just setting an example with him."
Robert breathed a sigh of relief and said, "No matter what, Ethan helped resolve this matter. Jane, go get something to eat. Let's celebrate!"
Bernice also felt relieved. She smiled at Ethan and said, "Thank you for your hard work. It's been a tense day."
"Sorry for the trouble. Thanks."
"It's nothing," Ethan replied calmly.
Jane coldly snorted and said, "If it weren't for Miss Anderson's understanding, could you have handled it?"
However, that night, Jane still prepared a table full of dishes to celebrate.
"These two projects should be able to make a lot of money, enough to compensate for the losses incurred by the Jones Group investment. This year, we will have enough profits," Bernice said with ease.
The losses from investing in the Jones Group have always been the reason the board of directors used to attack her. With these two projects, she would soon earn a substantial amount of money.
"Ethan, didn't you say that the land in Cam Mount will grow in value? You should talk to Miss Anderson and persuade her to acquire the contracts from the Smith Group!" Jane suggested.
Robert felt embarrassed by Jane's profit-driven behavior and said to Ethan, "Don't listen to her."
Ethan said, "Let's keep it. This land will certainly gain profit. It's a good move for the Smith Group to hold onto it."
Jane angrily said, "You're Bernice's husband, but you should first consider the interests of the Smith family. So, what if Miss Anderson acquires the contracts in our hands? We can take a loss, even sell them at half price!"
"Mom, please stop talking about this! We can already compensate for the losses through this project. Let's keep the land for now. Once someone buys it, we can make a move..." Bernice helplessly shook her head, wanting to avoid further entanglement on this issue with Jane.
Ethan smiled helplessly and didn't say anything.
Bernice also mentioned that when they earned enough money, she would repay him for the money owed to his relatives.
After all, it was she who brought up the idea of investing in the Jones Group, so if there were any losses, she should bear them.
Ethan didn't mind.
The next day, he leisurely spent the morning at the Aim Group. In the afternoon, Ethan went to a heliport in Boston.
People were coming and going at the airport, and everyone was dressed appropriately and gorgeously, except for Ethan, who was casually dressed, looking out of place.
They were all attending Barbara's 25th birthday banquet.
Everyone knew that Barbara, the mayor's daughter, had been greatly impacted by her mother's death. Over the years, she rarely left home and developed serious mental illness. This sudden birthday party was obviously extraordinary, so many people were invited to attend.
"Why did you come?!" Bernice, wearing a light red evening dress, was shocked when she saw Ethan.
She hadn't told Ethan about this as she was a bit hesitant, afraid that Ethan would cause trouble in such a situation again.
When Ethan saw Bernice, he was also somewhat surprised. He smiled and said, "Of course, I am going to attend Barbara's birthday banquet!"
Dorothy, wearing a blue evening gown, walked over. The wind from the helicopter's rotor blew her hair a little messy. She came up with a smiling face and said, "Bernice, Mr. McKellen, you arrived earlier than me! Bernice, you're going too far.
"In such an occasion, why didn't you even buy Mr. McKellen a decent suit? Aren't you afraid of embarrassing him? If I had known you didn't have a proper suit, I would've bought one for you!"
Bernice's face turned red with anger. She replied unhappily, "I already bought him one, but he just doesn't wear it!"
Just then, a helicopter landed, conveniently empty, and the three of them boarded directly.
