Chapter 123 This Is Women
"Yes, it's all my fault. I was too impulsive and unreasonable yesterday. Thank you for taking care of Hazel. Thank you, Kevin. I'll treat you to a meal another day as a token of my gratitude," Aaron said sincerely, trying to appease Kevin.
He had stirred up this trouble last night and ended up sleeping with another man's wife. Unexpectedly, now this fool Aaron was thanking him.
Now, Kevin couldn't help but feel a sense of evil delight and pride rather than panic and anxiety. Looking at Aaron's servile demeanor, Kevin couldn't help but feel a surge of self-righteousness.
"Alright, Aaron, come on up. I sincerely apologize to Hazel. I know you messed up, but Hazel is a reasonable person." Scarlett, acting as a peacemaker, gently gestured for Aaron to approach.
"No, he can't come up. Didn't he say he doesn't want me going to his home anymore? Didn't he say that I should stay with you guys from now on? Well, I'm following his orders now. Why is he coming to find me? Tell him to get lost." Hazel insisted firmly and domineeringly, her voice filled with anger.
"Hazel! I'm sorry! My dear wife, I was wrong. Please hear me out; I beg for your forgiveness. Let me explain." Upon hearing Hazel's voice, Aaron, with a face full of earnest supplication, walked upstairs to the living room with humility, pleading softly from a distance.
As Hazel saw Aaron, she couldn't help but feel uneasy. After exchanging a glance with Kevin, she restrained the nervousness and panic in her heart, masking her shame with a haughty and unreasonable attitude, scolding Aaron angrily, "Talking now? What's the point of doing so? Why didn't you say those things when you left me yesterday? I waited for you all night. Why didn't you come? It's too late now! I'm so disappointed in you. As a man like you, you're not worth having my child or entrusting my life to you. Leave! We'll go file for divorce tomorrow."
Observing Hazel's evasive and nervous eyes and forced display of defiance, Kevin had already guessed Hazel's current state. Sometimes, women who were knowingly in the wrong felt guilty and fearful but were reluctant to face it. They often found unreasonable excuses and displayed fierce and stubborn behavior to mask the guilt and fear brewing within.
Hazel avoided seeing Aaron, likely not because of lingering anger from yesterday but rather because of the guilt of being unfaithful to Aaron last night. She didn't know how to face him now; hence, she used this excuse to evade him and seek some solace.
In such moments, the more Aaron showed weakness and begs, the stronger Hazel's guilt and sense of wrongdoing became.
To release the guilt and sense of wrongdoing within herself, seeking excuses for her actions, Hazel might exhibit even more rudeness and unreasonable demands towards Aaron.
Hazel knew she was in the wrong, that she had betrayed Aaron, yet she had to prove to herself, through her actions, that she wasn't at fault, laying the blame solely at Aaron's feet.
This way, she could rid herself of guilt and instead feel a sense of retribution.
"This is despicable woman," Kevin muttered to himself, secretly relieved that he was the one causing trouble and not the one being deceived.
"No! Hazel! I know I was wrong. I truly understand my mistake now. I've thought all night, and I genuinely realize my fault. I'll follow your lead from now on. How about this: We will go to the property registration office today and transfer my parents' property into our names, yours and mine. From now on, I'll hand over my salary to you. I'll do everything you say." Like a lapdog, Aaron kneeled beside Hazel, even reaching out to hold her hand, earnestly and pleadingly offering his apologies.
"Don't touch me! Only now do you realize your mistakes. Only now do you want to make amends. Only now do you want to transfer the house to me. It's too late!! I don't need it! I'm going to get rid of the baby! I no longer need to live in your house or spend a penny from you! Are you content now?"
The more earnest and sincere Aaron pleaded, the more guilt-ridden and dominant Hazel became, displaying an even more assertive and aggressive demeanor.
Watching this couple's drama unfold before him, Kevin couldn't help but find it amusing. Hazel truly embodied a mix of all traits, making her the epitome of feminine prowess.
For Kevin, however, this woman was truly entertaining. Dealing with a simp like Aaron posed no psychological stress on him; in fact, Kevin found it rather fulfilling.
Reflecting on how he toyed with someone's wife last night, witnessing the wife now reprimanding her husband, who had been cuckolded so commandingly, created a significant psychological contrast, a feeling of immense satisfaction and joy.
