Chapter 188 School Bullying
"Abigail, my son's grades have been quite good this time, and I am very grateful for your care of Garrett during this period," Stella said with an immediate change of expression, smiling amiably at Abigail.
"Stella, this is what I should do as a teacher." Abigail immediately nodded with a respectful smile.
"Stella, the graduation ceremony is about to start. Please proceed over here," chimed in the school's vice principal, who hurried over with two teachers and respectfully invited Stella.
"Alright, I understand." Stella nodded elegantly, then turned and whispered to Natalie, "You're Natalie, right? Young lady, I must say you really are pretty, and I've heard your grades are good, too. But you should be clear about who you are and stop bothering my son from now on. You are not in his league."
Upon finishing, Stella cast a disdainful glance at Kevin and said, "Young man, it would be wise to exercise caution in your behavior. There are individuals not to be trifled with. Apologize to my son immediately, and I shall let this matter rest."
Despite her son's error, this woman was actually asking for an apology from Kevin.
Kevin was incensed, glaring coldly at the haughty Stella, tempted to slap her at that very moment.
"Kevin! This is Stella, the Deputy Director of our Education Bureau and Garrett's mother. Do you two know each other?" Abigail discreetly tugged at Kevin, who was ready to lash out, and gave him a knowing look, awkwardly smiling as she spoke.
Abigail was aware of the situation and intentionally acted ignorant, subtly reminding Kevin of the woman's status with a good intention and advising him to avoid offending her.
At this moment, Natalie also realized the gravity of the situation. Tears shimmered in her eyes, and she quietly pulled on Kevin's sleeve and softly urged him, "Kevin, let it go. I'm graduating soon anyway, and we won't have to deal with these people again."
Observing Kevin's angry but silent demeanor, Garrett, standing nearby, smirked with satisfaction.
"Guy, my patience is limited. Don't let temporary bravado lead you and your sister-in-law to regret," Stella coolly chuckled, looking at Kevin with smug confidence.
Kevin was so angry that he clenched his fists tightly and took a deep breath but refrained from engaging in further argument with the woman. Instead, he turned around and, grasping Natalie's hand, declared, "Natalie, let's go."
"I will know your situation soon enough. I hope you won't regret today's decisions!" Kevin had just taken a few steps with Natalie when the woman's disdainful voice, tinged with arrogance, echoed from behind.
It was a melodious and pleasant voice, yet it only had a rather repulsive effect on Kevin at that moment.
Kevin thought, ‘Does she think she could do as she pleased because of her family's wealth and influence? Does she think she holds all the power and control? Well, just wait and see!’
A malicious smirk played on Kevin's face.
An evil yet bold idea slowly took shape in Kevin's mind. In the past, Kevin might have felt powerless against such individuals, even fearing retribution from this woman.
But now, Kevin had grown stronger. Today, he was determined to make this overbearing woman pay the price!
"Kevin, Natalie, don't act impulsively. Garrett's mother is the Deputy Director of our district's Education Bureau, and his father is the CEO of the largest real estate company in our district. Their family wields immense power here. Dealing with common folks like us is easy for them. Although Natalie excels academically, interference from such people could lead to trouble. Sometimes, one must bow their head. Remember what happened that night? Nothing serious occurred. Besides, Natalie won't be in the same school as him in the future; let this matter pass for now." As Kevin led Natalie into the auditorium, Abigail, still concerned, caught up with them and offered her well-intentioned advice.
While Abigail's words were meant to be comforting, Kevin and Natalie, who held strong self-respect, couldn't help but feel deeply uneasy and uncomfortable.
Although Garrett had been the instigator all along, their wealth and power seemed to shift blame onto regular individuals like them, no matter their wrongdoings.
In Abigail's eyes, it appeared as if they were provoking Stella and Garrett.
Indeed, power was a mysterious and all-encompassing force capable of altering individual moral judgments.
"Abigail, will Stella be speaking on stage later?" Ignoring Abigail's attempt at comfort, Kevin coldly stared at Stella, who was being invited to the platform, and unexpectedly posed a completely unrelated question.
"Yes, she's quite a prominent figure. Even our principal would treat her with reverence. Individuals like her are truly not to be trifled with. Be cautious in the future. Previously, when Garrett broke another student's leg in class, nothing came of it. The school didn't dare take action against Garrett; his father simply made a few calls, and the matter was effortlessly swept under the rug. The other student's parents had no choice but to transfer that child to another school to resolve the issue peacefully." Abigail sighed wearily, conveying a sense of resignation.
