Chapter 35 I Remember You

“Kevin!”
Upon seeing Kevin appear, Natalie clutched at him like a lifesaver, struggling to rush towards him. However, Amelia and Garrett held her back tightly, making her struggles futile.
“Let her go!”
Furious at the sight of Natalie being treated in such a manner, Kevin quickly advanced and forcefully shoved Garrett aside, gathering the unsteady Natalie into his embrace.
“Kevin! Take me home,” Natalie whispered into Kevin’s chest, her soft body clinging to him with the smell of alcohol as though she feared he’d let her go.
Feeling the warm, delicate embrace, Kevin’s anxiety finally eased. Fortunately, he had arrived in time.
“Who are you? Who let you in?” Garrett frowned, his face twitching in anger as he glared at Kevin.
Hearing Natalie calling Kevin's name directly, Garrett could guess that Kevin might be Natalie’s family, but he was still not ready to give up. Natalie was the woman he’d pursued for over two years. Today, she was within his grasp; after he saw his plan was abruptly interrupted, his fury boiled over.
“I'm Natalie’s brother-in-law, and I’m here to take her home. What were you just doing?” Kevin stared coldly at Garrett, questioning him sternly.
“You say you’re her brother-in-law as if we’re supposed to believe you? We don't know you! Let Natalie go; we’re taking her home!” Amelia declared defiantly, attempting to step forward to take Natalie back, only to be swiftly pushed away by Kevin.
“Yes! We were having a class reunion, and you barged in here to take away our classmate. How can we believe you’re her brother-in-law? What if you’re a pervert? Let go of Natalie! We'll take her back.”
Garrett, unhappy with the interruption, made one last desperate attempt to wrest control of the situation.
Under the influence of alcohol, Garrett had become somewhat hysterical, and all he wanted now was to take Natalie into the car and make things happen with her right then and there! His feelings for Natalie were so strong that he was willing to go to extremes, even if it meant facing consequences.
“Guy, you need more practice if you want to kid me.”
Kevin took out his phone and said coldly, “Do you want me to call your teacher right now and have them deal with this? Do you think I don’t know what you were to do just now? Or maybe we should let the police investigate?”
“No! Don't tell my teacher! We meant no harm. We just wanted to take Natalie home! You've misunderstood,” Grace, terrified at the mention of contacting the teacher, quickly conceded and tried to explain herself, her voice betraying her guilt.
“Damn it. Don't use the teacher to intimidate us! Natalie is drunk; what's wrong with me taking her home? I don't believe you are Natalie's brother-in-law! Let go of Natalie.”
Garrett’s face betrayed a flash of ruthlessness as he shot a look at his three cohorts, and the four of them surrounded Kevin with a cold demeanor.
Kevin glanced at the table laden with alcohol, took a couple of steps back, then grabbed a beer bottle, smashed it against the table, and brandished the jagged edge toward Garrett and the other three who were about to attack, shouting, “Dammit! You dare bully my sister, and yet you think you can also act tough in front of me? Believe it or not, I'll end you right here!”
Seeing Kevin’s fierce reaction, Garrett and his group froze in place, panic evident on their faces. They were just high school thugs, after all, not hardened criminals.
Although Kevin hadn't been involved in the underworld, back in high school, he got into quite a few fights and even once broke someone's hand. While he might not have what it took for the mafia, when it came to dealing with high schoolers, Kevin wouldn’t be afraid at all! Even when faced with three or four of them at once, Kevin wouldn’t back down!
"Kevin! Forget them; I want to go home! " Natalie clung stubbornly to Kevin, her words slurred but loudly proclaiming her wish.
"Give me back Natalie's cell phone." Kevin glared menacingly at Amelia and held out his hand demandingly.
"It’s just that I was looking after it for Natalie! Here, take it." Amelia approached, handing over the phone to Kevin with a trembling hand.
Kevin snatched the phone and shot Amelia a fierce look, saying coldly, “I remember you now!”
Then, turning to Garrett with a stern command, he smashed the bottleneck on the ground and pointed, “And all of you! If I ever hear you've troubled Natalie again, I swear I’ll break your damn legs.”
With those final words, he escorted Natalie out of the restaurant, passing through a crowd of intimidated students.
