Chapter 141 Just an Old Car, Isn’t It?

A burst of fireworks erupted, and beneath the spotlight, colorful, dazzling patterns soared into the air.

As the curtain was drawn, the silhouette of a vehicle wrapped in red cloth appeared before everyone's eyes.

"Kevin, what is this?" Lillian stood agape, staring at the form beneath the spotlight, shrouded in red cloth. She quickly realized this was likely a car.

"Kevin, couldn't you possibly have gotten Mom a car?" Scarlett exclaimed in amazement as she looked towards Kevin, her eyes filled with incredulity.

"Kevin, you're incredible! Did you really get Mom a car?" Sofia was so surprised, her delicate fingers covering her lips, her eyes shimmering with envy and astonishment.

Her eyes, sparkling with delight, were fixed on the romantic and mysterious gift before her. Her admiration for Kevin was plainly written on her face.

"A car? It really looks like a car." Cody's shock was palpable as he stared at the solemn and romantically secretive scene, his eyes wide with disbelief.

"Is it necessary to send a rotten car off with such grandiosity and mystery? It's just a casual vehicle, after all, not a Mercedes or BMW. What's the point in showing off?" Victoria's tone was as sour as if she had just eaten a lemon, exuding a palpable sourness.

Observing the excitement and happiness radiating from her sister Lillian's face and then glancing at Cody, Victoria was overcome with a wave of envy and jealousy. All she could do was murmur a sentence of envy to her husband.

"Kevin, what kind of car did you get for Mom?" Sofia, hardly able to contain her excitement, hurried forward and grabbed Kevin's hand, her face a picture of curiosity. At this moment, she seemed even more excited than her mother, Lillian.

"Kevin, this isn't really a car for me, is it?" Lillian, still in disbelief, tugged at Kevin's arm, her voice trembling with emotion.

"Mom, why don't you take a look? It should be you who does the unveiling," Kevin said with a smile, leading Lillian and Scarlett to the side of the car by their hands.

The crowd also gathered around, curious and anxious, as they watched the car draped in red cloth.

"Cody, could Kevin really be gifting your aunt a Mercedes? How could he afford that? His statement earlier makes sense—without any assets to mortgage, even if he borrowed, given his circumstances, he could at most borrow tens of thousands. The watch he just gifted is worth tens of thousands alone! Adding this car, even if it's just tens of thousands, that's still over thirty thousand!" Lily covered her mouth in astonishment, watching Kevin's calm and composed demeanor. No matter how she looked at it, Kevin didn't seem like someone who would put on airs.

"Cody, are we possibly misunderstanding Kevin?"

"Misunderstanding my foot. What kind of money can that bastard have? He must have engaged in something illegal or shady despite his current ostentation. Soon enough, we'll see his downfall!"

Cody's mouth twitched with a sense of reluctance, continually cursing Kevin in his heart, eager for Kevin's comeuppance.

"What's so great about a Mercedes A-Class? Our family's Mercedes C-Class is worth twice as much as that. Is it necessary to show off like that? Making such a grand occasion out of it, truly uncouth." Victoria watched her sister Lillian's happy face as she approached the car to pull the ribbon, her heart soaring with jealousy as she maintained her last shred of pride.

"I bet it's a Mercedes A-Class or a BMW 1 Series. The entry-level kind hardly counts as a real Mercedes or BMW. Buying such a car is just paying for the badge. Honey, if you want, I'll go buy you a Mercedes A180 one of these days." Marshall felt ashamed at the moment, seeing the Foster family outshining them. It was particularly galling given how proud the Gomez family had always been to feel superior to the Foster family. This superiority had been his proof of his own capability and the validation of the saying "same background but different fates"—that Victoria had married well into his respectable life.

But now, an upstart son-in-law from the Foster family was showing them up, making it difficult for the Gomez family to hold their heads high.

At this moment, Lillian and Scarlett, overcome with excitement, pulled on the silky red cloth covering the car.

The cloth fell like water, revealing the dazzling, shiny black color underneath the spotlight.

As the cloth dropped, a brand-new black Mercedes appeared before everyone, its prestigious silver emblem standing proudly, captivating all onlookers.

Marshall's eyes widened, clenching his fists.

A Mercedes E300L. The car he had always dreamt of.

He had longed to buy a Mercedes E300L. Unfortunately, with the factory's declining profits over the years, he could only sigh in longing at the thought of owning one.

Yet now, Kevin had purchased one for Lillian.

"It's a Mercedes E300L!" Cody walked to the front of the car in disbelief, his eyes lusting over the luxurious Mercedes before him, his hands caressingly the sleek chassis. "Oh my goodness, this is the top-of-the-line prestigious model. This car costs a lot. Are you out of your mind, Kevin? Is this really the car you bought for my aunt?"
