Chapter 57 Evelyn’s Proactive Invitation
"Both of you! Next time, I will never make grilled meat for you again!"
Sofia glared at Kevin and sat down at the table, taking revenge by forcefully chewing a piece of the meat.
Sofia stood up embarrassingly, spat out the remaining black mush from her mouth, and managed a weak smile. "Alright, Kevin, Natalie, let's just go out to eat today. I will treat you."
Kevin gratefully nodded at what seemed like a reprieve, sneaking a glance at Natalie, wishing to use this opportunity to improve their relationship.
"Alright, but it’s not convenient with Kevin joining two girls eating out. You can stay home and write books, and we’ll bring you something delicious back. Is it okay?" Natalie forced a smile at Kevin.
Kevin paused, momentarily taken aback by Natalie's gesture, wondering if she was intentionally creating a private moment to reveal some distasteful deeds he had committed against Sofia.
The possibility made Kevin break out in a sweat, his heart pounding in nervousness.
"You insolent girl, why? What's the matter with you, always targeting Kevin? If it weren't for him last night, do you realize the trouble you would have gotten yourself into?" Sofia eyed Natalie with some dissatisfaction, seemingly angry.
"Really? Then thank you, Kevin. But I just want Sofia to accompany me alone," Natalie insisted with a cold smile.
"Go ahead; I indeed have some stuff to handle today and can't accompany you out. Just the two of you go, and remember to bring me something delicious." Facing Natalie’s gaze, Kevin felt an overwhelming sense of nervousness and guilt and could only smile awkwardly to ease the situation.
"There seems to be a bit of an odd dynamic between you two. Alright! I shall accompany you today for a leisurely outing to ease your mind." Sofia looked oddly at Natalie and Kevin.
Fortunately, since Natalie had always disliked Kevin, Sofia didn’t harbor suspicions and waved goodbye, leaving with Natalie.
As the sisters departed, Kevin finally exhaled a long breath. The moment before had been like a punishment, an unbearable pressure that almost suffocated him.
One must reckon with the repercussions of their wrongdoing. Nevertheless, it does offer a splendid chance this afternoon to rendezvous with Evelyn.
Kevin checked his phone and noticed that Evelyn had sent two more messages.
Evelyn: [What on earth are you doing? Why are you ignoring me?]
Evelyn: [Forget it; if you’re going to ignore me, let’s not talk anymore. Just delete me.]
Seeing Evelyn’s messages, Kevin grinned with satisfaction before replying: [Sorry, I was just busy and didn’t look at my phone. Have you eaten?]
Evelyn: [I just finished cooking and was about to eat.]
Kevin: [I haven’t eaten yet. I was thinking about asking you out for a meal.]
Evelyn: [You haven’t eaten? Never mind eating out. I’ve got my child with me, so it’s not convenient.]
Evelyn: [If you don’t mind. Maybe you could come over to my place for a meal. Try my cooking.]
Going to Evelyn’s house? Seeing Evelyn’s invitation, Kevin’s eyes brightened.
But upon further thought, he began to worry. After all, he was a married man. Visiting a single woman’s home in broad daylight, if seen, could be risky.
Moreover, there was a 19-month-old girl in Evelyn’s home, which made Kevin feel a bit uncomfortable.
Kevin: [Evelyn, is it really okay for me to eat at your place? Won’t it be inconvenient?]
Kevin wanted to send the message when he was abruptly stopped by the system.

Reading the system’s prompt, Kevin hesitated for a moment.
Biting the bullet, he decided to take the risk. The greater the risk, the greater the reward. For the thrill and perhaps a fling, such risks must be faced. After being invited by a beautiful woman, acting cowardly was simply disdainful. Most importantly, for the first date to be at a young widow's house, her 19-month-old daughter present was the epitome of excitement. Just thinking about it made Kevin's heart race with stimulation.
Kevin: [Just send me your address. I’ll come over for a meal!]
Evely then sent Kevin her location.
