Chapter 92 Just Be with Kevin!
"Kevin! You're talking nonsense. " Aaron was so disoriented by Kevin's twisted logic and impassioned accusations that he was dizzy with anger, his face flushed red, a sense of grievous indignation swelling in his heart. He wanted to counter vehemently but found himself at a loss for words, feeling as though he was about to choke on the air trapped in his throat.
How could Aaron, a man of straightforward and rigid principles, easily refute the brainwashing rhetoric Kevin learned from the internet? Facing Kevin's well-organized and ardent condemnation, the steadfast Aaron was so angry.
Aaron slammed his hand on the table, as furious as a ruffled rooster, and grabbed Kevin by his collar. "I'll kill you!"
At that moment, a crisp slap sounded. Hazel slapped Aaron across the face.
"Aaron! What are you doing? Kevin was speaking to you reasonably; why would you resort to insults and violence? Do you have no sense of where we are? With so many people watching, why stir up trouble in such a place? Your lack of civility is appalling; don't you feel ashamed? I find myself more embarrassed for you than for myself."
Hazel pushed the irate Aaron away with anger, standing firmly before Kevin and shielding him as she berated Aaron fiercely.
"Hazel! Are you striking your own husband for another man? I am your husband. How could you hit me in front of all these people?"
Aaron looked at Hazel, who stood guarding Kevin, with disbelief. He felt the anger surging in his chest.
"Aaron! What did Kevin say wrong? He was simply reasoning with you. He had your best interests at heart, so why did you have to resort to violence? We rarely go out to enjoy a late-night snack together, and yet you inexplicably decide to strike someone. What has gotten into you today? Are you out of your mind? If you want to hit Kevin, then you might as well hit me and the child in my belly, too. You shame me and our family."
Hazel's face went red with agitation, and she looked at her normally well-mannered and cautious husband as if he was going berserk, not understanding why Aaron had become so irrationally enraged and out of control. In Hazel's view, everything Kevin said was reasonable and well-articulated, not excessive at all. It was Aaron who seemed to be acting senselessly and hysterically.
"Hazel, forget it! Let's stop this. It was just a misunderstanding. Let's sit down and talk properly. It's rare for us all to be together; why did it have to come to this?" Scarlett shot Kevin an angry glance, pulling the raging Hazel back and gently calming her down.
"Forget it, Hazel. Let's drop it. For his sake, let's pretend this didn't happen today. This person is entirely self-absorbed, living in his own world. Talking reason with him is futile. I spoke out of turn today."
Kevin affected a helpless expression and shook his head, but his eyes challenged Aaron provocatively.
"You motherfucker! Bastard! I'll fight you to the end!" Aaron was already angry with Kevin's misogynistic rhetoric, but now he felt the sting of his wife's betrayal.
It seemed as though the entire world had turned its back on him at that moment. He wanted to retaliate, but he was at a loss for words. Although he knew he had countless arguments that could refute Kevin's twisted logic, he simply didn't know how to articulate them. Faced with Kevin's insane provocation, Aaron felt like he was being driven mad.
"Aaron! Come on! Hit me! Kill me and the baby in my belly, and you'll be satisfied! You won't have to worry about sharing your wealth or me spending your money anymore. Come on, hit me! Kill me!"
Hazel stood defiantly, shielding Kevin and protruding her pregnant belly, inviting Aaron to hit her.
Unable to strike at his wife and child, Aaron ultimately could not bring himself to do it.
"Alright! If that's the way it is! Then give me back my BMW keys! Don't bother staying with me. Don't bother coming back to this house. Since you're so keen on protecting Kevin and you think he's so great, then go live with Kevin from now on. Great! I'm superfluous. I’m leaving. I’ll leave right now."
Aaron had completely lost his sanity, snatched the car key from the table, and stormed out of the restaurant without looking back.
