Chapter 77 Buying a Car

Kevin's favorite was, of course, the Maybach S-Class and S-Class AMG, but the prices for these two models were still too much for him, and a premium had to be paid just for the reservation. Though Kevin had 1.8 million dollars in hand, these luxury vehicles were not on his selection list currently.
Even if he had 10 million dollars, Kevin wouldn't consider such top-of-the-line luxury cars. Moreover, the S-Class models were too bulky and, while impressive to look at, not ideal for driving; they were more suited for a chauffeur service.
The Mercedes S-Class was more of a business vehicle. If he ever started a company in the future, Kevin might consider acquiring one.
But for now, it was for buying groceries for his mother-in-law, so after much consideration, he still felt the Mercedes E300L was the best fit for Lillian's age and needs.
"That's the one!" Kevin compared the Fashion, Luxury, and Exclusive models. The Fashion model was priced at a minimum of 460,000 dollars, which should amount to just over 500,000 dollars after factoring in the on-road costs. The top-tier Exclusive model was 100,000 dollars more, with a bare cost of around 550,000 dollars, and would cost about 650,000 dollars on the road.
As for performance and specifications, Kevin wasn't interested in details. He simply opted for the luxurious Mercedes E30L facelift model, not aiming for the best but for the most expensive one.
In any case, making money had become easier now, and Kevin had always believed in getting value for his money. After all, expensive things surely came with their own rationale.
Having made up his mind, Kevin called the local 4S shop directly.
"Hello, welcome to Harborview Metropolis Mercedes-Benz dealership; this is the sales representative, Violet. How may I assist you?" The call was quickly answered, and the saleswoman's voice was gentle and pleasant.
"I'd like to buy a Mercedes E300L revamped Exclusive model. The regular emblem will do; I don't like the big one. Do you have any in stock? I need the car by tomorrow," said Kevin, cutting to the chase.
The feeling of being wealthy was truly exhilarating. There's no need for excessive comparisons or hesitations. It's straightforward; He just needed to speak out his needs.
The saleswoman, catching the tone of abundance and urgency in Kevin's voice, responded with respect and excitement, "Good evening, sir. We do have the vehicle in stock, although it's only available in black. May I know which color you're interested in?"
"Black will do. Hold the car for me. I'll come down to your shop to buy it tomorrow. Do you need a deposit? If a deposit is needed, send me the PayPal information of your store, and I'll transfer it to you right now." Kevin had intended to purchase a black one as it was the only color he felt befit the dignified, calm composure of a Mercedes.
The mere thought of soon becoming a distinguished Mercedes-Benz owner made Kevin feel rather excited. Previously, he damn well could only envy others with their Mercedes, fantasizing about one day driving a Mercedes C-Class, an entry-level dream of his own.
And now, astonishingly, he could actually afford to purchase a Mercedes, and it was not just any Mercedes—it was a $600,000 Mercedes E-Class.
This gave Kevin a sensation of unreality, as if he were in a dream, feeling somewhat like a nouveau riche.
"Alright, Sir! May I know your surname and whether your Facebook is linked to your mobile number? I'll add you immediately on Facebook. Please remember to call me before you come tomorrow." The saleswoman seemed young and a little stunned by Kevin's impetuous manner but quickly regained composure, eagerly affirming the arrangement.
"My Facebook is my mobile number; add me there," Kevin replied. Then he hung up and opened his Facebook app. Soon after, the saleswoman sent a friend request.
Upon accepting the request, Kevin glanced at her profile picture and saw a young woman.
Her profile photo was a standard one. She was dressed in a black suit and white shirt, and her black hair was tied in a ponytail. Her fair, tender skin appeared really delicate.
Kevin was not sure if it was the camera's beauty filter, but he found the young woman quite attractive.
It was quite likely that the salespeople selling luxury cars like Mercedes-Benz were mostly beautiful women.
Kevin suddenly remembered his college's top beauty, who was rumored to be working in a 4S shop. However, he didn't have her contact information. Otherwise, he could have contacted her first.
Living in prosperity without being ostentatious was akin to walking through the night in plain attire. Kevin's strongest current inclination was to impress those who used to look down on him. This encompassed his relatives, friends, as well as his former classmates.
If he could contact his college crush and buy a Mercedes E300L from her, the effect would undoubtedly be outstanding.
It was presumed that the expression of the former school beauty who once looked down on him would be quite exceptional. Perhaps he might have the chance to fulfill a long-held dream from his school days.
