Chapter 26 The Young Aunt's Family
Kevin was bewildered. The intimacy had just fallen to 69 (Familiar), so how had the score with Sofia soared higher than before the kiss after just a short while?
Moreover, he couldn't fathom why Sofia should feel the need for subterfuge, for deception.
It was a normal thing for a man to have a meal with his wife’s younger sister.
Yet Sofia disguised it expertly, maintaining her front in front of Kevin’s wife as if nothing of note had transpired between them.
Had Kevin not seen the intimacy level reach 91, he might have suspected Sofia had developed amnesia.
At that moment, Kevin caught Sofia stealthily winking at him while Scarlett was distracted.
Her eyes, naturally foxy, performed an alluring blink that caused a stirring within Kevin.
Intimacy had reached 91!
That meant only nine more points were needed to win over Sofia completely!
"Kevin, you should really be more attentive to Sofia since she's your sister-in-law. If she's alone at home, as a family, you ought to look after her. Don’t spend all your time buried in your writings. Besides, it costs a lot to eat in restaurants. Is it so difficult for you to cook a meal at midday?" Lillian interjected from the kitchen, taking Sofia's earlier words at face value and chiding Kevin.
"Kevin's busy with his work, not hiding in his study playing games. Sofia has been idling at home these days; she's the one who should be cooking. Anyway, she may need to cook after she gets married," Scarlett cut in uneasily, countering her mother.
Sofia glanced at Scarlett with irritation, retorting somewhat petulantly. "Why do I have to get married? I might as well stay at home, just like you. If you can do it, why can't I?"
As the sisters began their familiar bickering of sharp wits and sharper tongues, Lillian and Kevin had grown accustomed to it.
The three sisters, though kin by blood, shared a complex relationship—robust competition and frequent quarrels were commonplace.
"That is enough. Stop arguing. Honestly, if you both stayed home, you’d nag me to death!" Lillian chided, favoring Sofia slightly, wiping her hands on an apron. "Today, your aunt is bringing over your cousin. They'll probably be bragging about their new Mercedes. I think they're almost here. Come on and help out!"
“How annoying! They're likely going to flaunt their superiority complex again. Such a nuisance.”
This time, Sofia and Scarlett united against a common irritant.
The mention of Victoria and her arrival with her family immediately darkened Kevin's countenance, especially at the thought of Cody, which spurred disgust within him.
They were a family who never failed to rub Kevin the wrong way—polite and friendly on the surface, yet their supercilious tone and disdainful glances towards him were anything but subtle.
After marrying into Scarlett's family, Kevin had found this bunch to be the most aggravating, always keen to flaunt their sense of superiority and mock him at every opportunity.
A chorus of horn beeps abruptly resounded from outside, and Lillian said to Sofia, “Sofia, that must be your aunt. Go and welcome them.”
Sofia reluctantly murmured, giving Kevin a look of helpless resignation before heading to the door and opening it to peer outside.
A white Mercedes was impeccably parked in the driveway—the imposing logo shone dazzlingly.
The car doors opened one after another, and Sofia then saw her aunt Victoria, uncle Marshall, and cousin Cody emerge smugly from the vehicle.
Unexpectedly, a young girl timidly stumbled out of the passenger seat, causing both Sofia and Kevin surprise.
The girl was of average height, around 5.2 feet, appearing somewhat diminutive next to Sofia. Her complexion was fair and tender, her attractiveness undeniable.
What caught Kevin’s attention, however, was the striking fullness of the girl’s chest.
His first instinct was to muse a 'youthful face with a large bust.'
"Sofia, You’re back. Is it summer break?" Victoria cheerfully emerged with gifts from the trunk, warmly stretching out her hands to grasp Sofia, exclaiming admirably, "Sofia is becoming more and more beautiful. You’ll surely marry a tall, rich, and handsome man!"
Victoria bore a resemblance to Lillian and appeared significantly younger. She looked like a woman in her early thirties, given her well-maintained appearance. However, she was already 38 years old.
Both Victoria and Lillian shared similar figures: voluptuous and shapely, the epitome of mature beauty.
