Chapter 93 Stay at My Place
"Okay! Aaron! You despicable! Beast! Rot in hell! I swear I will never step foot in your house again!" Watching Aaron storm out, Hazel's face immediately paled in devastation, her body going limp as she collapsed into Kevin's waiting arms.
"Hazel! Are you alright? Aaron, how can he be so irresponsible? He's a grown man, acting worse than a child. To leave his wife and child behind just like that!"
Kevin, while supporting Hazel, feigned concern and wrapped his arm around her waist, letting Hazel lean heavily against his body. He said with a distressed face, "Don’t worry, Hazel. He left you, but Scarlett and I will be with you. We have always been your staunch backing."
"Kevin, Scarlett, how could I have met such a bastard! It is unfair." Tears twinkled in Hazel's eyes, cascading down as she clung to Kevin and sobbed on his shoulder.
Clearly, Hazel was on the brink of collapse.
A woman in such times was most vulnerable and in greatest need of security.
Kevin quickly took advantage, holding Hazel tenderly, comforting her, "Hazel, it's okay. He's probably just having a rough day, and something must have triggered such a strong reaction. Nevertheless, no matter how bad his day was, he shouldn't treat you like this, especially when you are pregnant. It's not right for a man to take out his frustrations on his wife after facing difficulties outside. Hazel, please don't cry. Everything will be fine. Scarlett and I are here for you; we will take you home, and you two can have a proper talk."

"Hazel, please don't be like this; you’re making me sad as well. Today, it's all Kevin's fault; he shouldn't have talked so much. It was all fine when we were all together; why did it have to turn out like this?"
Scarlett, having a clearer perspective, didn’t quite like what Kevin had said earlier and realized that Kevin’s words might have triggered Aaron's hysterical rage. However, she found it challenging to object. After all, Kevin had spoken words of affection and care for her.
Although Scarlett felt that men and women should not be like this, she could not object to her husband being nice to her. She felt fortunate and thought she should treat her husband better.
As for Aaron, even if Kevin's words were somewhat wrong, that was no excuse for him to lose his temper and become violent, right? It was unexpected that Aaron lacked such self-control.
"Scarlett! Why are you saying the same thing about Kevin? What did Kevin say wrong? Kevin is a real gentleman. Aaron is the scumbag. What Kevin said today was something I had suppressed in my heart for so long. Kevin spoke them for me, and it made me feel a lot better. But Aaron reacted so irrationally and so patriarchally! It's hopeless! He is unreasonable!" At this point, Hazel still stood up for Kevin.
She was profoundly relieved and grateful that Kevin had spoken up for her and defended her.
Now, she even saw Kevin as a confidant. The previous disdain she felt for Kevin due to his lack of ability had even turned into sympathy.
In Hazel’s view, Kevin was an ally in the battle for women's rights; he was among the sane and intelligent who truly grasped the truth.
"No! I do not want to go back. Aaron told me to get out of his house. He told me not to live with him; I will never go back in this lifetime. Tomorrow, I will find him and file for divorce," Hazel said assertively while wiping away her tears. "I will also abort the child. With such a father, the child would only suffer in life. It's better not to be born at all."
"Hazel! How can you say that? The child is innocent." Scarlett immediately pulled on Hazel and coaxed her, "Listen to me. We'll take you back home, and you talk to him. I believe Aaron is not the type to be unreasonable; he was just angry."
"No! I will not go. Even if I die outside, I won't go back." Hazel's stubbornness kicked in, and she clung to her decision, completely deaf to persuasion.
"Scarlett, they're both angry now. Taking Hazel back will only intensify their conflict, and as a pregnant woman, she is especially vulnerable. As her best friend, you should comfort her and be with her. Let's not persuade Hazel right now; it'll only agitate her further and could harm the baby. I think we should follow her wishes for the moment and calm her down." Kevin, with an ulterior motive fast at work in his mind, pulled Scarlett aside, subtly leading the naive Scarlett to fall deeper into the trap he had laid.
