Chapter 30 You Have No Talent

When Lillian saw her sister's new car earlier, she felt uneasy. When she overheard her sister's family criticizing and mocking her son-in-law, she became even more displeased with him. She thought Kevin had brought shame upon her. She had never expected that Kevin to be incredibly clever at a crucial moment, swiftly turning the tables and dealing a harsh blow to her sister's family.
This brought a rare sense of relief to Lillian, who had always been overshadowed by her sister's family. She looked at Kevin now with pride and joy. Lillian felt an increasing fondness and satisfaction with her son-in-law, and the more she looked at him, the more she liked him.

Hearing his aunt speaking, Cody put on a gloomy face.
Before, every visit to the Foster family was an opportunity for Cody to flaunt his sense of superiority with Kevin, the fallen son-in-law there. His presence ensured that Cody would always be held in high esteem.
But he hadn't expected that today, of all days, on his first outing with his beloved girlfriend and his new Mercedes, flaunting his superiority, he would be humiliated by Kevin.
Now, Kevin had become the one shown up. Watching his girlfriend's admiring gaze on Kevin and his mother's fawning demeanor, Cody was so angry; his fists clenched so tight he wished he could leave right at that moment.
"Lillian, you can't say that. Kevin only graduated from a regular college as well, but look at how well he's writing now. I think Cody could give it a try, too."
Victoria, not quite willing to give up, pleaded with Kevin with hopeful eyes. "What do you think, Kevin?"
"I'm sorry. This matter isn't really about education; it depends on talent. Cody lacks talent in this regard, so I'm afraid I can't teach him. However, I see that Lily is very gifted in this area. She can earn so much just by writing in her spare time in college. If she learns from me, she will have a limitless future ahead."
Kevin smiled at Lily, who looked at him with admiration, a faint smile playing on his lips.
"I don't want to write any rubbish e-books about this kind of improper stuff! Just because you got lucky and made some money, are you all so excited? How long can you make money with this kind of shady profession? You were favored by luck once, and your book has become popular. Will you always be that lucky? We don't want Lily to learn to write books. Instead, we want her to join me in starting a business. It's much better to grow and float the firm on the stock market."
Cody, trying to save his dignity, stubbornly retorted.
"Of course, writing books is great. I love writing and reading. Being an author has always been my dream. If you're willing to teach me, I'm eager to learn. Can you teach me?"
Lily showed no mercy to Cody and embarrassed him.

"Of course. You're Cody's girlfriend, so we're family. It's only natural for me to teach you."
Kevin smiled warmly, showing a brotherly and generous expression. However, he was actually thinking about how to win over this youthful and well-endowed girl.
Lily was still a virgin, so he needed to act quickly. He must secure Lily's virginity before Cody.
"That's great! Thank you in advance, Kevin." Lily was more excited than winning a prize, her eyes sparkling with admiration for Kevin.
"Kevin, making some money from writing books is no reason to be proud. Cody was right. This isn't the right path, after all. Save some of the money you earn; don't spend it recklessly. You and your wife haven't even bought a house yet. This money probably won't even cover the down payment." Marshall coughed awkwardly, speaking with authority.
Marshall had made some money from business in the past and had already paid the down payment for Cody's property.
Although the location was average and it was only around 1,080 square feet at the time of purchase, at today's price of 2,000 dollars per square foot, it would be worth over 2 million dollars.
When Marshall bought this house, it only cost him about 1 million. In just a few years, its value has more than doubled.
By bringing up the topic of the house, Marshall intended to put pressure on Kevin.
Considering the size of 3,000 square feet, even with Kevin's current eight hundred thousand dollars, it would still not be enough for a down payment. When it came to buying a house, Kevin's funds were rather insignificant!
"You are right. I'll work harder and try to buy a house this year." Kevin nodded earnestly.
Seeing Kevin's sincere attitude, Marshall and Lillian felt relieved.
"Alright, it's getting late. Let's sit down and have dinner."
Lillian was in an extremely pleasant mood today. Since taking on Kevin as a son-in-law, she had never been so happy! Today, she finally let out the pent-up resentment in her heart! Previously, Lillian always made Kevin sit at the end of the table, but today, she deliberately pulled Kevin to sit beside her at the head of the table, serving him food and praising him with a smile.
Kevin enjoyed the attention, but he couldn't shake off the feeling of being criticized during previous meals.
