When Lillian saw her sister's new car earlier, she felt uneasy. When she overheard her sister's family criticizing and mocking her son-in-law, she became even more displeased with him. She thought Kevin had brought shame upon her. We don't want Lily to learn to write books. Instead, we want her to join me in starting a business. It's much better to grow and float the firm on the stock market."
Cody, trying to save his dignity, stubbornly retorted.
"Of course, writing books is great. I love writing and reading. Being an author has always been my dream. If you're willing to teach me, I'm eager to learn. Can you teach me?"
Lily showed no mercy to Cody and embarrassed him.

Marshall had made some money from business in the past and had already paid the down payment for Cody's property.
Although the location was average and it was only around 1,080 square feet at the time of purchase, at today's price of 2,000 dollars per square foot, it would be worth over 2 million dollars.
When Marshall bought this house, it only cost him about 1 million. In just a few years, its value has more than doubled.
By bringing up the topic of the house, Marshall intended to put pressure on Kevin.
Considering the size of 3,000 square feet, even with Kevin's current eight hundred thousand dollars, it would still not be enough for a down payment. When it came to buying a house, Kevin's funds were rather insignificant!
